It's week 8 and we are down to 5 couples on Dancing With The Stars! Tonight each couple has to do 2 dances one of which they will only learn of their music for the second one minutes before performing. Can you say pressure? Keep refreshing because we are live giving commentary on each dance, what the judges say and of course the scores.
Robert Kardashian and Cheryl Burke Quick step – They danced to Take on Me and I have to say aside from him looking a little strange when he first came out on stage I was pretty impressed with his ability to keep up with Cheryl. He looked like he was having a blast as well. Omg Len said the same thing. I am NOT as old as Len I swear to you ha! He thought it was Rob's best dance so far and I have to agree. The audience LOVED it. Scores: 9/9/9 = 27/30.
Their music for the instant jive is 'Maneater' by Hall & Oates. How ironic that Kim Kardashian's brother got Maneater. Ha ha! Robert is on fire tonight so it will be interesting to see how he manages the pressure of the instant dance. I think he did pretty good all things considered but I'm not sure if they were out of sync a couple of times or what. But overall I think he did great. Scores: 8/8/8 = 24/30 for a total of 51/60.
Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Quick step – They danced to Valerie. I loved the rehearsal package especially the dinner with Maks' family. His father is a very handsome man! It was even nicer to see that Maks took a gentler approached and sort of apologized for his roughness. I hope it was sincere on his part. They danced fabulous which just proves my point from last week that Hope works better with a gentler hand. Scores: 9/9/9 = 27/30.
Their music for the instant jive is Avril Lavigne's The Best Damn Thing. We know Avril can't say that about her weekend considering her and boyfriend Brody Jenner were attacked by a group of people outside a bar. But I digress. Hope seems to be in a whole different head space tonight. She's so much better than she has been. Tonight's jive is way better than their first one. Scores: 8/9/8 = 25/30 for a total of 52/60.
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough Waltz – Something tells me this is going to be one of Ricki's best dances. She's so elegant and graceful on the dance floor and she just keeps getting better and better. This will also be a good change for her because of her back issue. From the very beginning of the dance it was beautiful. The entire dance was so so lovely. The audience went crazy and rightly so. Scores: 9/9/10 = 29/30.
Their music for the instant jive Land of 1000 Dances by Wilson Pickett. WTF? I'm hearing banjos in the distance. Okay I did not know this song was called Land of 1000 Dances and I thought Wilson Picket was a Country and Western singer. The beginning of their jive was AMAZING. Derek always outdoes himself each week and I don't know how he manages that. They were amazing tonight. Scores: 8/8/8 = 24/30 for a total of 52/60.
Nancy Grace and Tristan McManus Tango – Nancy Grace does nothing for me so I feel the need that she has to go home tomorrow night but I would like to see Tristan stay and entertain us for the duration of Season 13. Nancy surprised me for the tango, not that it's the best one we have seen on Dancing With The Stars, but for Nancy it was adequate. However it was not sexy as a tango should be in my very non-professional opinion. Scores: 8/8/8 = 24/30.
Their music for the instant jive Upside Down by Paloma Faith. If the judges say Nancy did a great job on this dance I'm going to projectile vomit all over my laptop. She looked lost and confused but still had a smile on her face the whole time. Normally I would give kudos to that but for Nancy it irritated the sh*t out of me. Scores 7/6/7 = 20/30 for a total of 44/60.
J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff Waltz – Talk about saving the best for last! That's no reflection on the others because I also think Ricki Lake is right up there, but J.R. has that specifal something. His attitude is so positive and he is flawless on the dancefloor with such a great personality. Loved the beginning with J.R. dancing by himself. Reminded me of Fred Astair. Karina's dress is so pretty. They looked so happy on the dancefloor and did such a beautiful job. I really hope the judges reward them accordingly. Based on the audience reaction I would have to say the judges would be hard-pressed to not love it. I agree with Carrie Ann it was such a magical dance! Scores: 10/10/10 = 30/30! PERFECTION.
Their music for the instant jive: Tutti Frutti by Little Richard. As soon as I heard it was Tutti Frutti I thought this is going to be an excellent dance full of energy and the J.R. pizazz and it did not disappoint! The hat, the outfit it was all happening and he is just amazing. Scores: 10/10/10 = 30/30!! Total of 60/60!! This is unheard of. But people DON'T forget to vote. The scores alone won't keep them in the game.
Whose performance did you like most tonight? Who do you think is going home tomorrow? Tomorrow night's musical guests Andrea Boccelli and Flo Rida!
