No. 20: When you're invited to the wedding of one of the biggest rock stars in the world, convention is non-existent. And so supermodel Kate Moss, 37, showed us "this is how it's done" when she laid down the guest rules at the wedding of Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell in October, 2011. Wearing a stunning shimmering Lanvin metallic sheath with black stilettos and matching clutch and with just the right amount of bling-bling, definitely not your average wedding guest attire. But then, Kate's not your average wedding guest.

No. 19: On Her Majesty's not-so-secret service but still looking very 007-ish, actor Hugh Jackman, 43, walked the royal red carpet at Buckingham Palace when he attended Queen Elizabeth's merrymaking bash in October, 2011 (prior to her departure to Australia.) Looking dashing and debonair as ever, Mr. Jackman donned a sophisticated dark blue suit, white shirt and striped tie which I'm sure even had the Queen feeling weak in the knees. (Admit it, Liz. You know he's a keeper.)

No. 18: There's an art to wearing black leather pants. Some call it casually elegant. But when you mix them with a silk damask blouse, metal-capped Louboutin pumps and matching clutch, it's called elegantly fierce. And no one knows that better than supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 24 when she attended the Christian Louboutin Book Launch Party at Barney’s New York in Beverly Hills, Calif., on November 3. Did you know that while growing up in Devon, England, Rosie was bullied by other girls over her looks? And just how many of those girls are today standing next to Christian Louboutin? Look who's laughing now.

No. 17: Actress Ashlee Simpson, 27, brought back vintage as she made her red carpet debut at the NYC premiere of Boardwalk Empire on September 14. Ashlee gleamed in this burgundy, gold floral-sequined chiffon gown by Temperley London Pre-Fall 2011 Collection with Anita Ko jewels. Love this vintage look and Ashlee wears it so elegantly. A great choice for a coming out. And if you're reading this Ash, I need to borrow that dress (and accidentally forget to return it). Just sayin'.

No. 16: Sweet 16 at its loveliest! Our youngest 2011 Fashionista, model Sarah Margaret Qualley, 16 attended the L'Oreal Legends Gala at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC on November 3 in a very age-befitting, yet elegant, flowing sea foam Alberta Ferretti gown. The 16-year-old beauty has just embarked on what is promised to be a successful modeling career and made her catwalk debut in September 2011 at Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti's New York Fashion Week show. And with parents like model/actress Andie MacDowell and model Paul Qualley, is it any wonder?

No. 15: Fashion royalty at its finest. Former Spice Girl and fashion designer, Victoria Beckham, 37, strikes a pose for the paparazzi at the British Fashion Awards 2011 held at The Savoy Hotel in London, UK on November 28. Not surprisingly, Victoria was awarded the Designer Brand of the Year at the event. So it was only befitting that she wore something from her collection – a beautiful black, sleek, floor-length halter gown. Minimal, yet elegant. Victoria's designs are indeed classics which can be worn for years to come. Baby Harper is the luckiest little girl on planet earth. Just think of the wardrobe she'll inherit one day.

No. 14: Good-bye little black dress. Hello little white dress! Pretty as a pearl is actress, Kate Bosworth, 28 when she walked the red carpet at the screening of her movie, Another Happy Day, at the 37th Annual Deauville American Film Festival in Deauville, France this past September. Kate wore this gorgeous white, pearl-embellished Chanel number, accessorized with Christian Louboutin pumps. You can't help but fall in love with the classic silhouette and elegant pearl trim of this dress. And who said you couldn`t wear white after Labour Day?

No. 13: Holla! Singer/actress, Jennifer Hudson, 30, rocked the house when she attended the Michael Kors Celebration of American Fashion at the U.S. Ambassadors' residence in Tokyo, Japan on November 5. (And I'll bet those Ambassadors are still recovering to this day.) Jennifer turned heads (and sprained necks) in this stunning black fishtail gown with gold trim from the Michael Kors Spring 2012 Collection. But you really have to love that pose. In fact, Jennifer should just literally walk like that down the street every day! Be on your way girl!

No. 12: When singer Selena Gomez, 19, attended the 2011 American Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. on November 20, little did she know she'd be the toast of the red carpet that evening. Selena showed a more grown-up style when she channeled very daring and glamorous old Hollywood, in this stunning Giorgio-Armani champagne gown with side slit and train. Not only did she complete her look with silver strappy sandals, Judith Leiber clutch and just the right amount of jewelery, but also included a little attitude. Now that's what I call style!

No. 11: Who do you get when you take one part gothic, mix it with another part style and add a whole lot of panache? The answer is simple. No one other than model/actress, Dita Von Teese, 39 when she attended the Christian Louboutin Book Launch Party at Barney`s New York in California on November 3. (However, between you and I, I have a feeling she looks this great no matter where she is.) Nobody can pull off an elegant gothic-inspired look the way Dita can. The dress embraces everything about Dita – from her curves to her cool, sultry composure. However, be forewarned: The cuffs are trimmed with spikes. Just one flick of the wrist and it could all be over for you. (Ouch!) No messing with this Lady!

No. 10: Slinky, sophisticated, and elegant. The stuff that old Hollywood glamour is made of. Actress and model Jaime King, 32, was the queen of the red carpet at the 2011 Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Gala in L.A. on November 12 in this gorgeous Oscar de la Renta Fall 2011 black silk velvet gown. The fabric and style stand on their own and are what give this dress character without the need for any embellishments. The elegant knot draped down the back of the dress is reminiscent of an era gone by, but one that is timeless. Jaime accessorized with Christian Louboutin pumps, Roger Vivier 'Olga Pilgrim' embroidered clutch and Neil Lane diamond chandelier earrings and bracelet and completed the look with sultry eyes, ruby red lips, hair swept to one side and a look that purrs, "meow!"

No. 9: Just when we thought we'd seen the very best of her, Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge took it up another notch and wowed the crowd in a simple, but dazzling, strapless, fish-tailed black velvet gown by Sarah Burton of the fashion house of the late Alexander McQueen during The Sun Military Awards held in London, UK on December 19. The gown also featured a delicately ruffled sweetheart neckline which proudly showed off not only her shoulders, but the diamond and ruby star-burst necklace (and matching earrings) she received as a wedding gift (above right), completing her look with Prada pumps and clutch. (And even though British soccer hunk David Beckham was in attendance, rest assure that all eyes were on Kate.)

No. 8: What's to stop a superstar, who also happens to be mother to twins, from rocking it at the biggest night in music awards? Absolutely nothing! Especially if your name is Jennifer Lopez. Best dressed award at the 2011 Grammy Awards held in L.A. at the Staples Centre on February 13 unquestionably goes to the singer/actress. The American Idol judge rocked the red carpet in this silver Emilio Pucci mini dress teamed with Christian Louboutin killer heels and matching clutch. And it also helps to have a little bling-bling by your side, say, $340,000 in Cartier jewels? Yes, mama was looking mighty hot that night and proved that at 41, she still has a pair of legs that could set the house on fire. And I bet Emme and Max can't wait to bring mommy to school for show and tell.

No. 7: He set box-office records around the world for his role as vampire Edward Cullen in the hugely successful Twilight series and has also earned a reputation for being one of the best dressed men on the red carpet. No surprises here as Twilight actor Robert Pattinson, 25 earns the No. 7 spot on the 2011 Fabulous Fashionistas Best Dressed List. The well-coiffed actor was suave searing as he took three shades of charcoal grey and turned them into smokin' hot embers at one of the most highly anticipated red carpet events of the year when he attended the London, U.K. premiere of Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. (Let's just get it over and done with … bite me.)

No. 6: American Actress, Olivia Wilde, 27, was also another celebrity this year bringing vintage back to the red carpet. While we`re used to seeing her in something along the lines of sleek and black, Olivia still kept it hot and sexy as she virtually glowed at the Toronto International Film Festival (T.I.F.F.) premiere of her movie Butter in this heavenly flowing, white Grecian-style gown from the Marchesa Resort 2012 Collection. The essence of this dress is captured in the greatly detailed gold embellishment accenting the neckline and cuffs complimented by the contrast of the white sheer silk. Cleverly, Olivia wore her hair in a top knot and kept her make-up simple, yet sophisticated. No doubt Olivia was the red carpet winner at this year's T.I.F.F.

No. 5: Far from elementary, actress Rachel McAdams, 33, was sizzling in silver at the L.A. premiere of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows at the Village Theatre in L.A. on December 6. While many an actress has attempted to wear a classic style such as this one, I have to say that Rachel executed the most stunning silhouette of them all in this long sleeved, cowl-back silver embroidered Marches Resort 2012 gown. And this is what I like most about a classic style, especially one that not just anyone can pull off. However, when it is, it becomes one of the most unforgettable moments in fashion. It makes the woman as beautiful exiting a room as it does entering it, which would have even caught Sherlock Holmes' attention.

No. 4: At just 21 she's become the sweetheart of the music industry and a red carpet favourite. Every event is a fashion fairytale for the Love Story singer and for Taylor Swift, 21, the night of the 2011 Country Music Awards proved no different. Taylor looked angelic while she stole the spotlight in this strapless, pastel dove-grey, diagonally draped J. Mendel couture gown. The heavenly tulle overlay, feathered organza detailing and length of the train was the perfect choice for Taylor for what turned out to be yet another coronation as the recipient for the coveted CMA`s Entertainer of the Year award. Twisting and pinning her beautiful gold tresses back into a romantic do was textbook perfection which showcased her Lorraine Schwartz chandelier earrings. But whether or not Taylor walks away with an award, she'll always be a winner with us.

No. 3: It may have been the evening to hand out gold statuettes, however, the main event was happening outside the Kodak Theatre on the red carpet. Although not nominated for best supporting actress, Mila Kunis, 28, still came out a winner on Oscar night. The Black Swan star was a vision of undeniable perfection in a low-cut, flowing lavender silk chiffon Elie Saab Spring 2011 couture gown at the 2011 Academy Awards. The uniqueness of the dress is in the unexpected delicate and detailed tiered lace and ribbon design, complimented by the twisted and draped sheer silk chiffon throughout. The neckline reveals just a subtle peek of cleavage without risking the elegance of the dress. The colour of the dress was also perfect for Mila`s contrasting dark tresses. Completing her look with Neil Lane earrings and bracelet and a Bottega Veneta clutch made Mila one of the top contenders for best dressed on Oscar night. 'Can't wait to see what she wears next year!

No. 2: Always a red carpet favourite, actress Halle Berry, 45, never fails to disappoint and this year's Oscars was no exception. Like a seasoned princess arriving for the ball, Halle was stunning in this nude, crystal embellished Marchesa couture gown trimmed with organza and silk tulle ruffles at the 2011 Academy Awards. The colour of the gown was a perfect choice, which Halle wore like a second skin. And the structure of the dress cleverly captures that walking‑on‑a‑cloud effect without even the slightest effort on Halle's part. Does Halle ever get it wrong when it comes to the red carpet? Obviously not. This is one actress who knows what works for her and isn`t afraid of what other people think. And for that reason my friends, is why Ms. Berry rarely fails to make it on a best-dressed list.

No. 1: There are those who can smolder the red carpet and then there are those who can set it on fire without ever putting it out. And when you can serve up a gown that remains literally unforgettable and unsurpassed by anything else right up until the very last day of that year, you have a winner! Vampire Diaries actress, Nina Dobrev, 22, served up a jaw-dropping moment at the 2011 Emmy Awards in February, which earned her a title of one of the best dressed celebrities of all time. The young starlet stunned everyone in this siren red Donna Karan Resort 2012 gown from the moment she stepped onto the red carpet. Every element of the dress is absolute perfection: the colour, strapless bodice, cinched waist, and the unique fishtail/train combination. Her choice of just one piece of jewelery, a stunning Neil Lane necklace, was the perfect compliment for the gown highlighted by her beautiful and effortless tresses gracefully swept over to one side. In essence, the dress, the jewelery and the hair all work together without one overpowering the other in making it the most beautifully dressed woman of 2011. And this my friends, is what made Nina Dobrev the No. 1 Best Dressed 2011 Fabulous Fashionista!
