Third Trailer for Live Action Video Game Act of Valor
We have the third trailer (and a new poster) for Act of Valor, which is a sort of reality/fictional hybrid about a group of Navy SEALS that highlights naval special warfare capability and fleet interaction.
The film stars a group of active-duty Navy SEALs (which becomes mopre and more apparent with each trailer and more dialogue is included) and is “inspired by” true events as they attempt to rescue a kidnapped CIA operative which in turn leads to information relating to a terrorist plot against the US. The mission then becomes a worldwide manhunt. It is truly a sign of the times that even in the brief glimpses seen in the two trailers, it plays like a live-action video game (which is not in any way shape or form meant to disparage the real work these real people do. What I mean is that the stilted, jingoistic dialogue with line readings out of “Gears of War” doesn’t necessarily make for a great movie).
The official synopsis: An unprecedented blend of real-life heroism and original filmmaking, Act of Valor stars a group of active-duty Navy SEALs in a powerful story of contemporary global anti-terrorism. Inspired by true events, the film combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the minute battlefield technology and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure.
The film was directed by ex-stuntmen and documentary filmmakers/commercial directors Mike “Mouse” McCoy (Dust to Glory) and Scott Waugh (Step Into Liquid), who are also behind a lot of military recruiting ads, and written by Kurt Johnstad (300) and along with the SEALs costars Roselyn Sanchez, Nestor Serrano, Emilio Rivera, Timothy Gibbs and Alex Veadov .
Act of Valor opens February 17th, 2012 in the US and the UK.
