New International Trailer for Detachment with Adrien Brody!
There’s a new international trailer for Tony Kaye’s Detachment starring Adrien Brody as Henry Barthes, a teacher with a talent to connect with the students perfectly, but spends his time hiding his gift and poses as a substitute teacher. Henry avoids any emotional connection with the students (and his colleagues). The nature of his job lets him leave before the going gets tough until he finds himself in a public school where he quickly becomes a role model for the students and he meets someone who forces him to connect, to be present until he realizes he doesn’t have to be alone in the world.
In addition to Brody, the film stars James Caan, Marcia Gay Harden, Christina Hendricks, Lucy Liu, Blythe Danner, Tim Blake Nelson, Bryan Cranston and William Petersen.
I’ve been talking about Detachment since last April when it was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival, in fact it’s been travelling around to the smaller festivals all year. I really can’t wait to see it. France, it seems will be giving it a wide release starting February 1. It will be available in the US via VOD starting February 24. It’ still supposed to get a theatrical run, but I’m guessing it will be very limited.
