Watch the Wrath of the Titans Terrific First Trailer!

Watch the Wrath of the Titans Terrific First Trailer!

This first trailer for Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to 2010’s Clash of the Titans, (itself a remake of the 1981 version) makes the film appear to be miles ahead of its predecessors. Starting with Liam Neeson’s voice as Zeus giving his half human son Perseus (Sam Worthington) some fatherly advice was a good idea, so was using Marilyn Manson’s cover of the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams”.

Synopsis:

A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Worthington) –the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson)–is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramirez), switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) from a script with four credited writers, although Dan Mazeau seems to be top dog (he’s already at work on the third in this franchise), Wrath of the Titans is unleashed March 30 in the US and the UK.

How Far Will He Go? First Poster for Robert Pattinson in Cosmopolis!

How Far Will He Go? First Poster for Robert Pattinson in Cosmopolis!

Cosmopolis is the next film from A Dangerous Method director David Cronenberg and stars Robert Pattinson and today we have the first poster. Seems odd that it’s been two months since we’ve heard anything about this and yet, the day after we have pics from Pattinson’s other post-Twilight gig (in his continuing quest to prove he can do more than sparkle and brood), Bel Ami, we have this. Cosmopolis  is Cronenberg’s first film without Viggo Mortensen since 2002’s Spider (with Ralph Fiennes)

Cosmopolis, based on the 2003 novel by Don DeLillo, is the story of a young multi-billionaire named Eric Parker (Pattinson) who journeys across Manhattan in his luxurious, hi-tech stretch limo to get a haircut. The story covers roughly one day in Parker’s life, during which time he meets an odd assortment of characters played by Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, Kevin Durand, Jay Baruchel, Mathieu Amalric and Sarah Gadon (Emma Jung in A Dangerous Method), and losing his fortune along the way.

Still no specific release dates for Cosmopolis yet other than a vague 2012, but there is already whispering about Cannes in May.

New Old Trailer for The Avengers Now with More German!

New Old Trailer for The Avengers Now with More German!

It’s been two months since we saw the first trailer for The Avengers, the eagerly anticipated film about the ultimate superhero supergroup. Today’s German trailer is  almost identical to the original with the exception of a few new shots…and the German dubbing. (I don’t understand the concept of dubbing. Why wouldn’t you want to hear the original actors voices, even if you don’t understand the language? Otherwise, doesn’t at least half of the performance you’re watching belong to the actor dubbing the dialogue?  Subtitles are NOT that difficult people! But I digress…)

The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon from a script by Whedon and Zak Penn, will assemble the “superhero team of a lifetime” including Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Tony Stark), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) as they unite to battle Thor’s evil brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and the extraterrestrial threat he unleashes upon the Earth, is in theaters 27th April in the UK and May 4 in the US.

By the way, I have to thank Screenrant for that cap of Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye above. I saw Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol yesterday and I’m kinda crushin’. Yes, I’ve heard the rumors. Trust me, that is in no way a deterrent. I’m kinda a magnet.)

Is Gina Carano Nuts?? Clip + Images from Haywire with Michael Fassbender

Is Gina Carano Nuts?? Clip + Images from Haywire with Michael Fassbender

We have some new images and a clip from Haywire, starring Gina Carano, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton and Michael Angarano. And since it’s been far too long since we’ve had any Fassbender, I needed to show it to you.

The synopsis:

This dynamic action-thriller directed by Oscar® winner Steven Soderbergh (Traffic) boasts a talented cast that includes Channing Tatum (GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra), Ewan McGregor (The Ghost Writer), Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Antonio Banderas (The Legend of Zorro), Bill Paxton (“Big Love”), Michael Douglas (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), Michael Angarano (Almost Famous ); and introduces mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, in a demanding lead role that has her performing her own high-adrenaline stunts.

Mallory Kane is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency. Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive.

I am in NO way shape or form advocating violence against women and if there are idiots out there who think this hyper-violent MOVIE from Steven Soderbergh is a how-to-manual then I hope the female they practice on gives them the full on "Fassbender treatment" that he got in the clip. Having said that, Gina Carano's Mallory Kane should have at least waited until they got naked and did the wappity wap before she killed Michael Fassbender. (And that’s not a spoiler, it’s right there) I know he hit her first, and he probably deserved what he got for a whole slew of misdeeds, but if she had any sense at all…I’m just sayin’.

Check out the images below, one of which is thanks to our friends at HeyUGuys. Haywire opens January 20. Personally, I can’t wait. (You did see that cast list, right?)

Who is Armando Alvarez? First Teaser for Casa de Mi Padre!

Who is Armando Alvarez? First Teaser for Casa de Mi Padre!

“Who is Armando Alvarez?”

Casa De Mi Padre (or The House of My Father in English) is a Spanish language comedy starring Will Ferrell (who, if you’ll recall, couldn’t mangled any attempt at Spanish in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy). It’s the story of Armando Alvarez, “rancher, son, lover, vigilante”.  This teaser gives us a very brief glimpse into what we can expect, including Ferrell and Diego Luna in a wacky shoot-out reminiscent of Sergio Leone by way of Robert Rodriguez. That’s also Gael Garcia Bernal, in a ‘blink and you’ll miss him’ shot.

Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father's ranch in Mexico his entire life. As the ranch encounters financial difficulties, Armando's younger brother Raul (Diego Luna), shows up with his new fiancé, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez). It seems that Raul's success as an international businessman means the ranch's troubles are over as he pledges to settle all debts his father has incurred. But when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul's business dealings turn out to be less than legit, all hell breaks loose as they find themselves in a war with Mexico's most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal).

"Yo soy Armando Alvarez!"

Casa De Mi Padre (The House of My Father) is directed by Matt Piedmont, written by Andrew Steele, both of  Funny or Die fame. Casa de mi Padre will arrive in theaters starting March 16. Could be fun in a Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles kind of way. I don’t know enough about the filmmakers to judge from this. More will follow I’m sure.
