Daniel Craig and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rooney Mara Hit NY!

Daniel Craig and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rooney Mara Hit NY!

Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara brought their gorgeous selves, along with David Fincher’s film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to New York and the Ziegfeld Theater Wednesday December 14. (That’s the third premiere in as many nights for that theater. Is the rest of the town booked?)

Rooney Mara really is gorgeous in that classic old-school Hollywood kind of way. She’s got luminous skin. It’s too bad that she’s coming across as a bit of a prig in the print interviews she’s done lately, but she carries herself beautifully on the red carpet. She’s not playing it safe with her fashion choices either, like this black Prabal Gurung. I like it. The night before, in Sweden, she wore a Roksanda Ilincic jumpsuit. Although frankly she could be wearing sack cloth and ashes, as long as she’s got Daniel Craig anywhere near here, she’ll be fine.

God, that Tom Ford suit! And he’s got another damn piece of silk in his breast pocket. *I die* (and I’m not alone.) I’m thinking the missus must be somewhere in the vicinity because old Dan looks happy. (I don’t think we’ll ever see them on a red carpet together until the Oscars, and even then maybe not until one or both is nominated.)

Enjoy the pics! Next stop, LA!

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian New Couple Alert?

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian New Couple Alert?

Tuesday night Kanye West could not keep his hands (and lips) off of Kim Kardashian! Is this not the craziest rumor there ever was? Maybe yes, maybe no. Last night in Los Angeles the Kardashian Klan, including Kim of course, headed off to the Kanye West and Jay Z 'Watch The Throne' concert at the Staples Centre and apparently at the after party Kanye needed a piece of  Kim pie:

“Kanye was eating Kim up like she was a piece of cake,” says the source. “He was all over her — caressing her head, touching her waist.”

“I think he was dying to kiss her, but there were too many people in the room,” the insider adds.

During the concert Kanye was so smitten he took time to lean over the stage to say hello. The Kardashians were in the VIP section of course. Who was next to them? None other than Beyonce biotches.

If you've ever watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians you will know that Kim and Kanye are not strangers and in fact have been friends for a while. I've always thought there were 'sparks' between them, but that doesn't always translate to sexual.

What do you think, believable or not?

Another Massive Batch of Images from The Darkest Hour!

Another Massive Batch of Images from The Darkest Hour!

We have another massive batch of stills from Chris Gorak’s The Darkest Hour a new alien invasion flick with Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Rachel Taylor, Max Minghella and Joel Kinnaman.

It’s the story of five people stranded in Moscow fighting to survive, defending themselves and their planet against a vicious alien attack. The aliens are out to rob Earth of its power supply and of course, try to take over the world.

Of course it’s in 3D. Gorak is a visual artist and I think the film will look stunning, something the stills and clips we’ve seen would seem to bear out. The Russian setting will only add to that. (It was filmed in Russia. At one point filming was halted due to the) As I’ve said, it may not have anything new to offer the ever expanding ‘alien-invasion genre’ but it looks like a fun ride, none-the-less .  At this point aliens are the new zombies (which were the new vampires).

This year alone we've had Cowboys & Aliens, the mecha aliens of Transformers 3, the aliens of the Green Lantern corps, Super 8I am Number FourPaulBattle Los Angeles, Apollo 18 and even Mars Needs Moms. Next year we'll get PrometheusMen in Black IIIStar Trek 2John Carter, even the new Superman, Man of Steel can be counted (although technically that’s 2013). There are as many variations on the theme as there are “walkers” on AMC or sparkles on Edward.

The Darkest Hour opens Christmas day in the US and 13 January in the UK. Enjoy the pics!

Fantastic Must Watch Behind-the-Scenes Featurette for The Artist!

Trailer for The Artist Sings!

Fresh on the heels of its SAG nominations for stars Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo and the cast for Best Ensemble, The Weinstein company has given us a wonderful six minute, behind-the-scenes featurette for The Artist, called "The Making of a Hollywood Love Story” that you really must see.

"Moviemaking can be an art form." Penelope Ann Miller.

Indeed. The film is currently considered the odds on favorite for Best Picture (probably going head to head with Alexander Payne’s The Descendants). The featurette includes interviews with the cast, tons of clips of the film, and some behind-the-scenes moments that are (somehow oddly) in color, featuring a lot of dancing. If you don’t smile all the way through it, your heart may be three sizes too small and you have a dog named Max.

The Artist, which is the story of Georges Valentin, a silent film star in Hollywood, 1927 who wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion. He sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer set for a big break. But just watch the clip. It will tell you everything you need to know.

The Artist is out now in NY and LA and will continue to roll out across the country. The UK gets it 30th December.

“Be Brave…Honor the King!” New Clip from War Horse

Two Exciting New TV Spots for Spielberg's War Horse!

A short but dramatic new clip from War Horse, introduced by the film’s star Jeremy Irvine, has just been released and comes to us courtesy of Yahoo. In it, Major Stewart, played by Benedict Cumberbatch is giving a rousing speech in an attempt to bolster the courage of his troops as they prepare to go into battle. I’m looking forward to seeing the entirety of that scene. I know that there are actually three, “Be brave!” utterances from Cumberbatch (although we get a different number in each new clip) and I can imagine the whole thing will induce goose-bumps. We also see Tom Hiddleston as Captain Nicholls preparing the horse we can assume is Joey (the titular War Horse).

War Horse is Steven Spielberg’s second film of the year (after The Adventures of Tintin). He and his stars, Hiddleston and Cumberbatch are having great years. Hiddleston was seen in Thor, The Deep Blue Sea and Midnight in Paris (and so was nominated for a SAG award for Best Ensemble). Cumberbatch appeared onstage in Danny Boyle’s “Frankenstein” as well as in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. While that film, as well as War Horse were both shut out of the SAGs (They’re in good company there), I think Cumberbatch (and Gary Oldman) should still be tipped for BAFTA nominations (and possibly Golden Globes which are announced tomorrow.)

War Horse opens in the US on Christmas Day and 13th January in the UK.

International Trailer for MS-One: Maximum Security (aka Lock-Out)!

Guy Pearce is Too Pretty to Have His Face Punched In - Watch the Trailer for Lock-Out!

James Mather and Stephen St. Leger’s MS One: Maximum Security starring Guy Pearce (just nominated for a SAG award for "Mildred Pierce") was formerly titled Lock-Out and last week we showed you the first teaser trailer.  Now we have the first feature trailer, again from France(courtesy of allcine.com) . Seems to me that this one makes it clear that MS One: Maximum Security is the remake of Escape from New York that you didn’t know you wanted.  In any case, we certainly know more about the plot after viewing this trailer than we did after the first. As an added bonus, there’s less of Guy Pearce getting a beat-down and more of being a wise-ass.

Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, The Messengers, The Lady) Executive Produced Director Mather  (making his feature film directorial debut) cowrote the screenplay with Stephen St. Leger and Besson. It was originally called “Section Eight” and was to be in 3D, so the current title is its third.

Synopsis: A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates

It didn’t hit me the first time I read that and certainly not from the first teaser, but with the new trailer, I think that the Snake Plissken allusions are definitely there.

Costarring Maggie Grace as the President’s daughter (she always plays someone’s daughter and she’s usually in some sort of peril), Vincent Regan, Lennie James and Tim Plester, MS One: Maximum Security breaks into theaters 13th April in the UK and April 20 in the US.
