Watch the Funny Trailer for Madagascar 3: Europes Most Wanted!

Watch the Funny Trailer for Madagascar 3: Europes Most Wanted!

Dreamworks Animation has dropped a trailer for Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. Again starring Ben Stiller (Alex), Jada Pinkett Smith (Gloria), David Schwimmer (Melman), Chris Rock (Marty), Sacha Baron Cohen (‘King’ Julien), Cedric the Entertainer (Maurice), Andy Richter (Mort) and Sherri Shepherd (Florrie), I’m not sure who was clamoring for a third installment in the Madagascar franchise, but this trailer is showing in front of New Year’s Eve and it’s got some genuinely funny moments (probably more than the film it precedes).  “Chimichanga! These pillows are filled with baby birds!”  One of the penguins yells with anguish after a pillow fight. Funniest part of the trailer: Chris Rock’s Marty singing about his polka-dot circus afro. I could listen to that all day…okay, well at least a few more times. Cracks me the hell up.

I love the James Bond-esque music underneath the beginning of the trailer, indeed Hans Zimmer’s score is pretty good from the little I can glean here. (At least I think it’s Zimmers. I’m seeing differing reports. Zimmer was responsible for the scores of Madagascar 1 and 2, but I’m also seeing Harry Gregson Williams’ name on 3.) The sound track also includes the obligatory covers (the better to sell that Original Soundtrack album) like

The synopsis is: Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo join a traveling circus in an effort to get back home to New York.

Of course it’s not that simple for this anthropomorphic bunch as they try to travel through Europe without attracting the attention of the police and an obsessive animal control officer on a mission (Frances McDormand in her first animated role. Not sure about vocally, but visually her character is a scream). They're joined by several of their friends, including King Julien, Maurice and the Penguins, but after joining the circus there are encounters with new animals as well, including Stefano, an Italian sea lion, a Russian tiger and Gia, a Latina jaguar.  Andre Benjamin voices Zuba but I’m most curious about Zarragoza the circus tiger. I can’t figure out whose voice that is.

Once again directed by Eric Darnell, this ‘threequel’ was written by Noah Baumbach (Greenberg, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Margot at the Wedding, The Squid and the Whale). Baumbach is reason enough alone to be curious about this film.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted escapes to theaters in 3D on June 8 in the US and 19th October in the UK.

Katy Perry NAILS Florence & The Machine Skit VIDEO

Katy Perry NAILS Florence & The Machine Skit VIDEO

One of Saturday Night Live's skits last night, 'Doggy Duty' where twelve dogs had been selected for jury duty. In the video. Katy Perry does an impersonation of Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine and NAILS it. I have to say I loved her singing that way!

SNL Digital Short Best Friends Feat. Matt Damon & Val Kilmer

SNL Digital Short Best Friends Feat. Matt Damon & Val Kilmer

One of the best parts of Saturday Night Live last night (aside from Alec Baldwin making a guest appearance) was the SNL Digital Short with Katy Perry and Andy Samberg who are then joined by Matt Damon as a homeless crack addict and Val Kilmer. It is hysterical. LOVE Matt Damon so for him to be in it was just a huge treat.

'Paying for our meth with sexual favors' Omg that was too funny.

Check it out and let us know what you think.

Alec Baldwin Spoofs American Airlines Feud on SNL

Alec Baldwin Spoofs American Airlines Feud on SNL

Katy Perry hosted last night's Saturday Night Live with Robyn as musical guest and I have to say one of the best moments of the night was when Alec Baldwin appeared on the Weekend Update With Seth Myers portion as Capt. Steve Rogers of American Airlines apologizing to Alec Baldwin for their mistreatment of him:

"It was awful, Seth," Rogers, 'which is why it was very important for me to come here tonight and on behalf of everyone at American Airlines issue an apology to Mr. Alec Baldwin."

Hearing the audience go nuts when he rolled out in his chair was amazing. The skit itself, while it had it's moments, went on a bit too long and seemed to be saying more of the same thing over and over, but the whole premise of him getting the final word to American Airlines in a spoof is genius.

Great New Hi-Res Images for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Great New Hi-Res Images for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Since I’m still not happy that Focus Features failed to open Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy in Boston this weekend*, I’m consoling myself with this cache of new pics that I’ve come across. We haven’t posted any of them before so regardless of how long they’ve been kicking around the internet, they’re new to us!

*I think the “select cities” decision was a last minute one. Fandango sent me a notice telling me tickets were available for Friday December 9. December 9 rolled around and suddenly it’s only playing in NY and LA. I think they wanted to build some momentum here in the US. While there are those of us who have been following the film’s progress and eagerly awaiting its release, it’s easy to forget we’re in the minority and that this is a ‘talkie’ little spy thriller.

Gary Oldman, Mark Strong and director Tomas Alfredson have been stumping for the film for over a week on both coasts. Interview after interview has been posted to movie blogs, uploaded to Youtube, gone over the airwaves to radio and television outlets as well as traditionally printed. It never ceases to amaze me how patient filmmakers are when they are continually asked the same questions, as long as it’s a product that they believe in. Some are definitely better at it than others, obviously.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy finally FINALLY opens in Boston, San Francisco and DC on Friday December 16 and continues to roll-out for the rest of the month across the country. Enjoy the pics!

Hilary Duff Moves For Change PHOTOS

Hilary Duff Moves For Change PHOTOS

Hilary Duff is glowing with her baby bump in her tight yellow sweater. Earlier today she was at the Santa Monica Ice Rink where she was hosting the Danskin's goodwill campaign "Move for Change". The event was to raise money for her charity "Blessing in a Backpack". I sound like a lesbian (nothing against lesbians but I like the man stick a little too much) when I say I love her so much but it's the fact she seems sincerely, genuinely NICE and sweet. She's so unchanged despite the fact she is wearing a million dollar engagement ring and is in her own right (and through her own hard work) worth a ton of money.

I can't wait for her to have her baby. You just know it's going to be a gorgeous little gift from heaven. I hope her and Mike Comrie have their own little hockey team's worth of babies.
