Kristen Bell Has (Hilarious) Meltdown Over A Sloth (VIDEO)

Kristen Bell Has A Meltdown Over A Sloth (VIDEO)

Kristen Bell appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show promoting her latest movie Big Miracle where she talked about her 31st birthday with fiance Dax Shepard (last summer) and how he made it very special not only by having a birthday party for her but having a SLOTH come to the house. Apparently Kristen is enamored in a very big way with sloths.

So she's telling Ellen the story of how on her birthday there is a knock at the door and Dax tells her to take the dogs and go in the bedroom. At this point she has no clue it's a sloth. Then as she's in the bedroom with the door shut she realizes it's a sloth. She feels it.

Dax opens the door with a video camera and she shared her emotional meltdown with Ellen. Being the jokester that she is Ellen (at the end of viewing that clip) tells her there's one backstage and she immediately starts tearing up.

First of all I LOVE Kristen Bell. Seriously this girl is perfection. But I have to say she's got some big stones sharing that video of her emotional breakdown over the sloth and good for her. And isn't it adorable how Dax just totally gets her and loves her for all that she is? That's a beautiful thing.

Seriously this hysterical and worth watching.

Fassbender, Knightley and Mortensen Premiere A Dangerous Method in London!

Fassbender, Knightley and Mortensen Premiere A Dangerous Method in London!

Another impossibly attractive trio celebrated the gala premiere of their movie in London tonight. This triumvirate however, Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen, has a tad more gravitas than the cast of This Means War. The three walked the red carpet in support of their film, David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method. The film opened in the US last fall and even had a gala screening at the BFI London Film Festival, but believe it or not is just opening in wide release in the UK. Hey, anything that gets Fassy in front of a camera, I’m all for it. He can go to the opening of an envelope and I won’t mind. Fassbender’s megawatt shark smile was on full display, as was the beginnings of his “vacation beard”.

Ya know…I might make fun of Keira Knightley because she’s built like a ten year old boy, but she can’t help that (and I’m just jealous) and the fact is, she is stunningly beautiful. (And a damn fine actress. Remember, it's all about 'the work'.)  I absolutely adore the photo where she’s looking over her shoulder at the camera with a cheeky grin because Viggo Mortensen’s got his hand on her ass. Let’s face it, this is a good looking group. Wonder where the after party was…Hmm? What?

Speaking of cheeky, Viggo Mortensen appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman in support of the film and he told an elaborate story about Michael Fassbender’s “preparation method”. (The Fassy story starts around 9:50)

Michael had his opportunity to set the record straight when he appeared on the show a few nights later

Mortensen is so deadpan that he’s easily mistaken for having no sense of humor, but it’s hilarious that he was able to tell that story with a straight face and get Letterman to believe it!

Enjoy the pics of the premiere!

Casting Tidbit: Michael Fassbender Will NOT Be a Vampire for Jim Jarmusch!

Casting Tidbit: Michael Fassbender Will NOT Be a Vampire for Jim Jarmusch!

You can’t see me, but I’m making my pouty face. I was really looking forward to watching Michael Fassbender sucking on some necks, or whichever vein the iconoclastic Jarmusch chose to have his vampires sup from. (I wouldn’t have been picky as long as I could watch Fassy doing the supping. Yeah, I have a vampire fetish to go along with my Fassbender fascination.) Sadly, this is not to be.

As it turns out, Fassy, who has been saying for a long time that he’s taking a “break” and his next film will be Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years a Slave, has left The Untitled Jim Jarmusch Project**and has been replaced by Tom Hiddleston of War Horse, Deep Blue Sea and Thor fame (soon to be seen again as Loki in The Avengers). This is not the worst casting news I’ve ever heard as I’ve recently become a fan and of course, Mia Wasikowska is still on board as are Tilda Swinton and John Hurt. Hiddleston has that long, lanky and spare look one wants in a good vampire (unless we're talking "The BDB*") So shooting, which is said to begin any minute now, is still on track for Germany, Morocco and Detroit, although we still know virtually nothing about the plot other than it’s a "crypto-vampire love story" set in both Detroit and Tangiers. More as we get it.

A side note to this is that Matthew Vaughn is said to be ready to start shooting the follow-up to last year’s X-Men: First Class within the next six months and that the entire cast is back on board. Could this be the real reason Fassbender left the vampire flick? McQueen is set to begin filming this summer so Vaughn will probably shoot immediately after (or possibly concurrently? It could happen.)

Here’s a clip (courtesy of our friends at Empire) of Tom Hiddleston introducing War Horse. As a consolation, enjoy a few new pics of Michael Fassbender at the bottom of the page.

Jessica Chastain Makes the Cover of Vanity Fair!

Jessica Chastain Makes the Cover of Vanity Fair!

…well, so did a lot of other ‘starlets’. Actually this is the cover of the annual Hollywood Issue. Every year the mag, which has been around since 1913 (with a hiatus from ’35 to ‘83), pays tribute to old Hollywood glamour with an issue timed to coincide with the Academy Awards and more often than not, featuring the faces of Hollywood’s future.

This year is not only no exception but, in my opinion it’s one of the more visually stunning covers of the past few  years. Opting for trendy pastels, the actresses included, shot by the great Mario Testino, all look like they stepped off of the set of Grand Hotel or Dinner for Eight.

(I love Vanity Fair. Not only is it the first place I was ever published – letter to the editor but I'm taking it- but I used to collect them for the covers. i stopped when stbx threatened to turn me in to "Hoarders".)

The cover would not have been complete without this year’s “IT Girls”, Jessica Chastain, Rooney Mara, Jennifer Lawrence and Mia Wasikowska (three of whom have been nominated for an Oscar either past or present). Featured on the fold-out are Elizabeth Olsen, Adepero Oduye and Shailene Woodley over to Paula Patton, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins and Brit Marling.

Marion Cotillard and Joaquin Phoenix Film in Brooklyn (photos)

Marion Cotillard and Joaquin Phoenix Film in Brooklyn (photos)

New Year, new movie: This one doesn’t have a title but it’s written and being produced and directed by James Gray and stars Marion Cotillard and Joaquin Phoenix in one of his first starring roles since he got the train back from Crazy Town.  This is Phoenix’s fourth collaboration with Gray after The Yards, We Own the Night and Two Lovers. (That last might have been what bought him the ticket to Crazy Town in the first place.) In any case, what is currently known only as Untitled James Gray Project is currently filming on location in Brooklyn.

The basic plot of the film involves an innocent immigrant woman (Cotillard) who is tricked into a life of burlesque and vaudeville until a dazzling magician (Jeremy Renner) tries to save her and reunite her with her sister who is being held in the confines of Ellis Island.

Since Renner is playing the romantic hero (Orlando the Magician), we can assume that Phoenix’s character (Bruno Weiss) will be the one who seduces Cotillard’s Sonya Cybulski. Is it too soon to say “I’m in”? I love the idea of Renner playing this type of character. He’s got a look about him that is both youthful and lived in, and Phoenix can do melodramatic villain very well. Remember his Commodus in Gladiator? If he’d have had a mustache he’d have twirled it. I think the same will probably be said of Bruno Weiss. (This is, of course, all conjecture based on the brief synopsis and the pics we’ve gotten from the set.)

Speaking of pics, I’m loving Phoenix’s bowler and Cotillard’s vaudeville costume, especially the velvet wrapper she’s bundled up in. It must have been very cold in Brooklyn the past few days. Even with the velvet, Cotillard is alternately swaddled in a blanket or someone’s down coat between takes. There’s no information currently available on Untitled James Gray Project’s release date, but hopefully we’ll have a title when there is.
