Channing Tatum: All The Details

Channing Tatum is on the cover of February Details Magazine

Channing Tatum and all his stripper hotness appears on the cover of February's Details Magazine that will be available on newsstands January 17.

Channing and the author of the article Howie Kahn spent their first couple of hours getting to know each other the way we all do: booze and guns. That's right they were shooting under the influence. But don't worry Channing's publicist had the smarts to have a driver so they weren't drinking and driving.

As Howie says:

He's darker, deeper, more creative than his easygoing manner—and most of his roles—might suggest. These days, when he's not attempting mock suicide, he spends a lot of time sculpting torsos from clay and drawing severe oil-stick sketches on butcher paper.

Channing has had LOTS of practice shooting guns and rifles:

“When I was a kid, we lived on the bayou in Mississippi. My dad would throw a beer can into the water and have me shoot at it.  Once, when I was really little, we had this huge double-barrel shot-gun, and when I tried it, it literally blew me off the dock.”

After they were finished shooting (Channing and the author) they were being driven when Channing noticed a woman at the side of the road with a smoking vehicle. He immediately had the vehicle stopped and sprung into action ensure that the woman's toddler grandson was removed from the backseat. He arranged for a tow truck and it wasn't until after a bit when the woman realized just WHO stopped for her! That's the kind of dude Channing is.

Amber Rose Forgives Kanye West & Kim Kardashian For Boning One Another

Amber Rose Forgives Kanye West & Kim Kardashing For Boning One Another

Amber Rose referred to Kim Kardashian as a home wrecker last week because she allegedly boned Kanye West while Amber and Kanye were together but all is forgiven says Amber. She was simply acting on emotion at the time she said it but there are no hard feelings:

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Amber says she's actually all about women empowerment so she forgives Kim. Think about it: Kim (allegedly) cheated with Amber's boyfriend at the time and Amber feels bad for calling Kim a homewrecker! That's very classy and sweet of her.

I've never actually heard Amber speak but she seems genuinely sweet and nice! And let's face it, she's moved on and is uber happy with Wiz Khalifa.

What to Watch: New On DVD and Blu-Ray January 10,2012

Numbers are limited but there are a couple of heavy hitters in the lineup this week. (A couple of baseball metaphors, get it?) The biggest among them is of course, Bennett Miller’s Moneyball starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman. While I wasn’t as blown away by this story of Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players as the critics have been, it is very entertaining. I'm a huge baseball fan and it's great fun to get a peak at the inner workings of the sport and what appear to an outsider as arbitrary decisions, especially since I remember some of the incidents portrayed in the film.  Moneyball has been nominated for 3 Golden Globes and it’s being billed as one of Brad Pitt’s greatest performances. I suppose that’s true and I will say that it is one of the few times I was able to forget I was watching Brad Pitt, world's sexiest DILF, and get into the character. I also have to say that I liked Jonah Hill’s performance because it was understated and unexpected. This is a very different Jonah Hill than you’re probably used to seeing.

I am, an unabashed Philip Seymour Hoffman fan. One of the reasons Hoffman is always so interesting to watch is that he always seems a powder keg just one spark away from blowing. One never knows whether to take his character at face value or not.

Here Hoffman is directed by his Capote director who guided him to a Best Actor Oscar. The words are by Steve Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin. Both pluses.

If sports films aren’t your thing, then don’t worry because the action thriller The Killer Elite (Jason Statham, Clive Owen, and Robert DeNiro) which we told you about last week, will also be available.

I suppose I should also let you know that the romantic comedy What’s Your Number? with Anna Faris, Chris Evans, and Ed Begly, Jr. is also out today. What you do with this information is up to you.

There are some direct to video titles out this week as well. Again, watch at your own peril. I can’t be held responsible for anything. Actually, I’m exaggerating. There are a couple of titles that may not have gotten a lot of attention, but are worth your time. You decide.

-Scorpion King: Battle for Redemption (Billy Zane, Victor Webster, and Ron Perlman) Since his rise to power, Mathayus' kingdom has fallen. Now an assassin for hire, he must defend a kingdom from an evil tyrant and his ghost warriors for the chance to regain the power and glory he once knew.

-Higher Ground (Vera Farmiga, Joshua Leonard, and Dagmara Dominczyk ) Actually, this one I do recommend. It played a number of festivals to great acclaim and had an extremely limited run back in August. Not unusual for a small art-house film. Farmiga made her directorial debut with this story of the landscape of a tight-knit spiritual community thrown off-kilter when one of their own begins to question her faith. Inspired by screenwriter Carolyn S. Briggs' memoir “This Dark World”, the film tells the story of a thoughtful woman's struggles with belief, love, and trust – in human relationships as well as in God.

-There Be Dragons (Wes Bentley, Dougray Scott, and Charlie Cox) We told you about this one last summer after it played the Cannes Film Festival and I fully expected to see this story, billed as an epic portrayal of faith, forgiveness and redemption, in theaters. The synopsis: Arising out of the horror of the Spanish Civil War, a candidate for canonization is investigated by a journalist who discovers his own estranged father had a deep, dark and devastating connection to the saint's life.

It’s got a great pedigree. Along with Bentley, Scott and Cox, the film stars Olga Kurylenko, Rodrigo Santoro and Geraldine Chaplin. It was written, directed and produced by Roland Joffe (The Killing Fields, The Mission).

-An Idiot Abroad (Ricky Gervais, Karl Pilkington, and Stephen Merchant) A boxed set of the UK television series.

-Saints and Sinners (Sean Patrick Flannery and Tom Berenger) In the gritty New Orleans underbelly, beleaguered Detective Sean Riley (Johnny Strong – Black Hawk Down, The Fast and the Furious) is trying to cope with the death of his young son and his failed marriage. Facing a probable suspension from the department, Riley is teamed with a young homicide Detective, Will Ganz (Flannery), to help solve a series of brutal murders that have plunged the city into a major gang war. The two quickly realize there is something much bigger and far more sinister going on than either could have ever imagined.

There, now you have something to do over the weekend. (A long one for most of us here in the States.)

Michael Fassbender Has Never Done A Woman Before

Michael Fassbender Has Never Done A Woman Before

Well, at least that’s what his character, Paul, claims in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire. And of course he's referring to something other than what you were probably thinking. There’s another great clip from the film coming your way, this one called “The Motive is Money” and it features Ewan McGregor trying to talk Fassy into “doing” Gina Carano’s Mallory.

I’m starting to think that if one were to string together all of the clips and trailers Relativity has released for this film, you’d have the damn film. Either they’ve lost confidence in their product (Gee, that’s never happened before, she said sarcastically referencing Machine Gun Preacher) or they’re just so damn excited they can’t wait for you to see it. (Yes, that was sarcasm again. It’s Tuesday and I’m on my first cup of coffee.) In any case, here's your daily Fassbender. Because I care.

Get More: Bill Paxton, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, Movie Trailers, Movies Blog

You probably know the synopsis by now: Beautiful freelance covert operative Mallory Kane is hired out by her handler to various global entities to perform jobs which governments can't authorize and heads of state would rather not know about. After a  goes awry Mallory finds she has been double crossed and needs to use all of her skills, tricks and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family, and exact revenge on those that have betrayed her.

Haywire (finally) opens January 20 in the US and Canada and two days earlier on 18th January in the UK.

Lindsay Lohan In Talks To Play Elizabeth Taylor

Lindsay Lohan In Talks To Play Elizabeth Taylor

Maybe Lindsay Lohan's career isn't in the crapper afterall! She is in the very early stages of talks to play Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime television movie THR is reporting. The film has been in development since May with producer Larry Thompson spearheading this project.

If you think about, Elizabeth Taylor was considered one of the best actresses of our time and despite her spiral into drugs, jail and jail, Lindsay has been considered by many to be one of the most talented actresses around (although many would probably disagree).

Lindsay is no stranger to icons as she recently did a Playboy cover and photo spread channeling Marilyn Monroe. She is currently on probation and must do several hours of community service and psychiatric counseling and report into court or she's going back to the slammer. So far she has been getting straight A's from all those involved and looks like she's on the road to redemption.

If she were to get this part and not mess it up, this could be a brand new beginning for her.

Can you see Lindsay playing Elizabeth Taylor?

Sinister Bodes Ill for Ethan Hawke!

Sinister Bodes Ill for Ethan Hawke!

Sinister is yet another movie we haven’t talked about before. It stars Ethan Hawke as ‘Ellison’, a true crime novelist struggling to find his next big story. He moves his family into a house where the horrific murder of another entire family took place.  But after finding a box of home videos in which other families are also brutally murdered, his investigation leads him to a supernatural entity that may be placing his own family in harm’s way.

I like Ethan Hawke. He may be a nanny-schtupping douche in his personal life, but I think he’s a talented actor who is, unfortunately more famous for said personal life as well as the fact that he was a kid actor who didn’t completely screw himself up on the way to adulthood, than for his films. Every time he gets a meaty role that looks like it will put him on the path to bigger and better things, he drops out of sight again. For every Training Day or Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead there is an Assault on Precinct 13 or Daybreakers. Maybe it’s his choice.

The writer/director of Sinister, Scott Derrickson, wrote and directed the well received The Exorcism of Emily Rose, so I’m thinking this might be territory he knows.  he told the LA Times blog, "24 Frames", before filming began, "The goal is to make a movie that puts a clever idea and a vision ahead of pricey stars or splashy effects" using the Insidious model, a horror film that grossed $140 million worldwide largely through word of mouth. The film also stars Vincent D’Onofrio, James Ransone and Fred Dalton Thompson. Another August release, it’s scheduled for the 24th in both the US and the UK. We’ll share a trailer as soon as we get it.
