Friday’s Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Vanessa Hudgens, Christina Ricci & More

Friday's Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Vanessa Hudgens, Christina Ricci & More

Ooh la la!  Actress Vanessa Hudgens wows the crowd at the Paris premiere of her latest film, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island in a mid-length strapless ivory Moschino number on February 12.  This dress is quite a departure from what we're used to seeing Vanessa in.  It has more of a sophisticated and elegant essence to it.  Love the white-on-white silk embossed paisley design.  Vanessa completed her look with metallic gold Giuseppe Zanotti leather sling backs, Samantha Wills jewels and opaque stockings.

Mamma mia!  And no, we're not talking about the musical but rather, Elisabetta Canalis when she attended the opening night of the 62th Sanremo Song Festival at the Ariston Theatre in San Remo, Italy on February 14.  Elisabetta struck a stunning silhouette sauntering down the stage steps in this white strapless gown featuring a front pick-up skirt followed by a train.  While I'm not sure who the designer is, I'm guessing it's Roberto Cavalli.  Absolutely gorgeous!

She may be petite, but actress Christina Ricci strikes one of the most memorable red carpet silhouettes that could give any supermodel a run for her money in this stunning black Jonathan Saunders Resort 2012 gown at the 2012 Elle Style Awards at the Savoy Hotel in London, UK on February 13.  The gown features a satin bustier bodice with a sheer pleated overlay and just a hint of a train.  The look says it all:  sexy, sassy, and sophisticated.  (Who needs a flight attendant's uniform?)  And don't forget, Christina is currently starring in the film Bel Ami with hunky Robert Pattinson which opens in theatres today.

Great gams!  Getting a leg-up on the competition at the 2012 Elle Style Awards in London on February 13 are British model and presenter Lisa Snowdon and British actress Laura Carmichael who both kept it short and sweet.  Lisa Snowdon rocked it in a 60s-inspired pink pastel mini dress with just a hint of a flared skirt that even Twiggy would have approved of.  Meanwhile, Laura Carmichael opted for a more updated mini frock cut in white silk satin with a bejewelled v-neck line, with both ladies completing the look with nude platform pumps.  With legs like these, if you've got it, flaunt it!

No surprises here as Brazilian Victoria's Secret model Isabeli Fontana took home the Best Model award at the 2012 Elle Style Awards.  But before doing so, Isabeli strutted down the red carpet in a figure-hugging pink pastel lace gown by Dolce & Gabbana, accessorizing her look with diamond stud earrings and silver clutch.  But perhaps her best accessory no matter what she's wearing are her stunning blue eyes.  Aren't they gorgeous?

It may be winter, but that didn't stop British model Poppy Delevigne from daring mother earth in a colourful English country-garden inspired mini frock by Mary Katranzou.  (Ahh … I can smell the fresh cut grass now.)  The supermodel gave the Mary Katranzou for Topshop collection its debut at the 2012 Elle Style Awards this past week.  This is a new clothing line and if you love colour, and lots of it, I highly suggest that you check it out at www.ustopshop.com.  Can you imagine a world full of people wearing this much colour?  I can.

She may have kept it quiet and elegant, but actress Thandie Newton thundered on the red carpet at the 2012 Laureus World Sports Awards this past week in London, U.K.  The actress was sleek and sophisticated in this Grecian-inspired one-shoulder creation by designer Osman.  With just a trace of a gold belt, Roger Vivier clutch, Solange Azagury-Partridge tassel earrings, and sleek and glossy hair, Thandie kept her look sophisticated and trés chic.  Less is definitely more!

That's it for another week happy people.  I hope you enjoyed my picks!  Be sure to return next Friday as I'll have even more great fashion!

Mark your calendars!  Next Sunday, February 26 is the biggest red carpet event on the planet, the Academy AwardsAnd you do know what that means, right?  So be sure to tune in on Monday morning for all my picks from the red carpet.  Until then, have a great weekend and love and peace to you all.

2012 Grammy Award Fashionistas

2012 Grammy Awards Fashionistas

It's that time of year again faithful Ineedmyfix.com readers as L.A. hosted the 2012 Grammy Awards, last night (February 11).  The show was, in my opinion, one of the best to date with many memorable moments.  And, as always, the red carpet hosted its own show of sorts where there was something for everyone – good and bad.  However, as I refuse to mix the good with the bad, I'll just stay good.

It was just last week when Kelly Rowland graced us here at Ineedmyfix.com  in a stunning one-shoulder tangerine creation that left us begging for more.  And so, Kelly delivered it, once again, at last night's 2012 Grammy Awards.  The Destiny's Child singer turned heads in a nude Alberta Ferretti gown that can be described in two words:  simple elegance.  The dress was a balance of a silver sequin embellished bodice with straight flowing skirt.  And once again, a hair of curls that most divas would kill for.  Definitely one of the best dresses of the night!

2012 Grammy Awards Fashionistas

She may not have been nominated last night, but professional dancer-turned-singer-turned-actress (yes, she's all that and more), Julianne Hough is a winner in this black strapless glittering gown by Kaufman Franco which featured a leopard-like stripe motif that left us purring for more.  Julianne shows us the art of elegance without going into overkill and kept it simple with Vanessa Leu earrings, hair and make-up.

2012 Grammy Awards Fashionistas

Not only was she rolling in the gold last night, vocalist Adele also struck a stunning silhouette prior to the show.  The singer, who cleaned the house in all six categories in which she was nominated, was also at her best in true diva style on the red carpet.  Adele chose a simple but stunning black Giorgio Armani gown with three-quarter length sleeves, drenched in delicately embroidered black sparkling sequins, cinched at the waist and a bateau neckline reminiscent to that of style icon, Audrey Hepburn.  Adele further cemented her diva rank with earrings by De Beers, Harry Winston ring and Christian Louboutin heels.  Debuting a new blonde do complete with a dramatic, but not overpowering, make-up and ruby lips, made Adele's comeback one to be remembered for years to come.

2012 Grammy Awards Fashionistas

Never a red carpet disappointment, country music's sweetheart, Taylor Swift graces the red carpet in a stunning nude-coloured Zuhair Muard Fall 2011 couture gown.  Although we're used to seeing her in something strapless and breathtaking, Taylor still stays true to her bedazzled style in a gown that featured what is probably the most detailed beading she has worn.  The high mandarin neckline style and capped sleeves are new for Taylor, but still work beautifully in her favour.  However, the best part of the dress is the cut-out back, which reveals a more mature style for the 22-year-old singer.  Taylor completed her look with jewels by Neil Lane and shoes by Prada.  Fashion is all about taking risks and in my books, Taylor comes out a winner!

2012 Grammy Awards Fashionistas

Also bringing back-to-back elegance to the show is country singer, Carrie Underwood.  The singer hit the red carpet in a white Gomez-Gracia gown covered in silver and white sequins and accessorized her look with diamond earrings and a Swarovski "Pure" black crystal clutch.  Carrie validates the expression "less is more" in this cut-out back with long sleeves (that Hilary Swank made so popular at the 2004 Academy Awards)The gown is also a change of style for Carrie as we're used to seeing her in strapless or sleeveless styles.  Hmm … watch out Taylor!

2012 Grammy Awards Fashionistas

While I'm not one for wearing blue hair, there are those who can pull it off even on the biggest night in the music industry and still look fabulous.  That being said, just what would a blue-haired Diva wear that could match the colour of her tresses?  If you're Katy Perry, the solution is easy:  blue with blue!  The singer strutted down the red carpet last night wearing a blue Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture gown that featured a cut out back with cinched waist and delicate ribbon woven throughout.  While some people may criticize her choice of hair colour and sometimes fashion sense, keep in mind that this is Katy Perry.  Katy has a playful sense of style and stays true to herself.  In fact, earlier this week on February 11, she arrived at the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute to Paul McCartney, donning a fashionably large rose hair piece, if you will, that could even rival most of the ladies of the Ascot circuit.  Kudos to you Ms. Perry!

2012 Grammy Awards Fashionistas

And our final fashionista of the 54th Annual Grammy Awards is British fashion correspondent Kelly Osbourne.  No fashion police needed here, as Kelly kept the spirit of sequinned gowns alive in this one-shoulder creation by Tony Ward with shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti and Pomellato jewels.  The gown is sophisticated but still has that fun metallic element, befitting for someone as young as Kelly.  Doesn't she look great?

That's it for Grammy fashion for another year good people!  Hope you enjoyed my picks!  What were your favourites?

See you next week at my regular post and be sure to tune in Monday morning (February 27) for our coverage from the 2012 Academy Awards red carpet.  Until then, love and peace.

Friday’s Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Minka Kelly, Kristin Cavallari & More

Friday's Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Minka Kelly, Kristin Cavallari & More

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, what better way to set hearts aflutter than with a lady in red!  Actress Minka Kelly strikes a pose for the cameras in a red Diane von Furstenberg sheath with nude Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps before changing and getting ready to walk the runway in The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection fashion show in New York on February 8.  February is Heart Month and Minka was among the many stars chosen to appear in the yearly event put on by the Heart and Stroke Foundation.  I'll bet every guy's heart just skipped a beat!

Kristin Cavallari makes her baby bump debut (or what little we can see of it) at the L.A. premiere of This Means War on February 8.  And judging from these pictures, I'd say this really does mean war … for other fashionistas that is.  It may be early days, but the mommy-to-be is still rocking the red carpet in this long-sleeved crimson Maria Lucia Hohan mini dress, completing her look with Isharya earrings, "Lady Peep" nude pumps by Christian Louboutin and matching python-skin clutch.  Something tells me that Kristin will still be rocking red carpets right up until her delivery date!

No black-tie gala would be complete without a gorgeous supermodel and world renowned fashion designer in attendance.  At 45, Cindy Crawford still has what it takes to set a red carpet on fire.  Cindy chose this low-cut show stopper Roberto Cavalli gown for the amfAR gala which kicked off 2012 Fall Fashion Week in New York on February 8.  The gown is so delicately embellished, featuring a detailed sequined embroidered bodice with a contrasting cross-hatch design throughout the skirt.  The yearly amfAR black-tie gala raises money for AIDS research, prevention and education.  And this year's honoree was designer Roberto Cavalli for his work with AIDS.

Once a supermodel, always a supermodel.  Also lending her support at the 2012 amfAR Gala this week was Canadian supermodel, Linda Evangelista who hung up her little black dress and opted for a girlie tux with peek-a-boo bra.  While we ladies love the confident and sexy appeal of menswear, the girlie tux made a comeback in its own right last year with many designers such as Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, Pucci and Ralph Lauren catching on to the trend.  And thanks to women like Linda Evangelista and others for making it a fashionable tailored look for women while still maintaining an elegance and femininity.  After all, what girl doesn't want to wear the pants once in a while?

Ladies, what would Friday's Fabulous Fashionistas be without at least one gorgeous chap in the collection, especially with Valentine's Day just around the corner?  Would I deprive you of such a pleasure?  Of course not.  So, also suiting up for the 2012 amfAR New York Gala this week was Twilight actor Kellan Lutz who was dashing and dapper in his manly tux at the event.  If you ask me, Kellan could very well pass for a young James Bond here.  Don't you think?  I'm guessing his tux is by Roberto Cavalli.  However, something tells me you really don't care about who designed it but only who's in it.  Right?

Friday's Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Minka Kelly, Kristin Cavallari & More

Singer Kelly Rowland, was glowing in a one-shoulder tangerine Alberta Ferretti gown when she was the guest of honour at the Black Women in Music L.A. event on February 8.  I would never think of tangerine as a colour for an evening gown.  However, after seeing Kelly Rowland in this dress, I'm a believer!  She was absolutely gorgeous!  Kelly completed her look with gold jewelery by Lorraine Schwartz and a head of curls that most divas would kill for.  Kelly was presented with a platinum plaque at the event for her successful hit, Motivation and other achievements over the past year.  Kelly is also nominated at this Sunday's 2012 Grammy Awards.  Don't miss it!

Friday's Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Minka Kelly, Kristin Cavallari & More

Completing this week's Fabulous Fashionistas is Oscar nominee and star of The Help, Octavia Spencer who looked elegant and beautiful in a David Meister dress.  The actress attended the Oscar Nominees Luncheon in Beverly Hills this week and looked every part a Best Actress in waiting.  Octavia kept her accessories simple and elegant with a leopard-print clutch, black platform pumps and hooped earrings.  This is one actress that I am looking forward to seeing what she will wear on Oscar night, which is only 16 days away!  Other than that, it wouldn't surprise me if she takes home a statuette that night.

That's it for another week fashionistas!  Hope you enjoyed my picks.  Be sure to be here Monday morning for my line-up of red carpet Grammy fashions.  Until then, love and peace.

Friday Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Jennifer Aniston, Rooney Mara and More

Friday Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Jennifer Aniston, Rooney Mara and More

There are little black dresses and then there are LITTLE black dresses.  To see for yourself, just check out Jennifer Aniston when she arrived at the 64th Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards at the Grand Ballroom in Hollywood on January 28.  Jennifer brought sexy to a new level on the red carpet that night in this short and stunning black strapless sequined number by Dolce & Gabbana.  Jen doesn't have to put much effort into working it as it comes quite natural to her.  In fact, she may have even coined a new term that night: the where's the nearest defibrillator lookKeep working it girl!

Friday Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Jennifer Aniston, Rooney Mara and More

There are kings and queens and then there is Dame Helen Mirren.  The First Lady of the silver screen reigned supreme on the red carpet at the 64th Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards on January 28 in this gold majestic creation by Badgley Mischka with sequin embellished draped sleeves.  What I like most about this dress and especially about Helen Mirren is the fact that she also wore it to the 2011 Golden Globe Awards (upper right).  And while there are those who may criticize her for doing that, I say more power to her for making that choice.  In fact, Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge is also known for wearing the same outfit on more than one occasion.  Besides, who can blame anyone for wanting to wear a gown as beautiful as this more than once?  Nobody!

Friday Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Jennifer Aniston, Rooney Mara and More

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest SAG red carpet diva of them all?  Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson is as she took time off from her correspondent duties to turn heads (and probably sprain a few necks) when she strutted her stuff at this year's 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in this stunning draped fuchsia Jack Guisso gown and Alexis Bittar accessories.  I love how this strapless gown with a slightly flared skirt lends itself to a modern twist of a classic mermaid silhouette.  Don't you?  Delicate bows accent the bodice and drop waist, while a delicate flowing train completes this romantic look.

Friday Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Jennifer Aniston, Rooney Mara and More

No smoke and mirrors here as actress Katherine Heigl is the real deal in this gorgeous smoky gray evening gown by Maria Lucia Hohan when she attended the Paris premiere of her latest film One For The Money on January 31.  Katherine looked radiant in the gown which featured a front bodice of detailed asymmetrical tightly interwoven chiffon and a daring and sexy low-cut back.  The feather-like weight of the skirt affords the dress its long train that flows along effortlessly.  Catherine accessorized her look with Rene Caovilla shoes, Judith Leiber clutch, and beautiful dove-grey Sutra drop-style earrings to create an overall old Hollywood look that most starlets should be dreaming of!

Friday Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Jennifer Aniston, Rooney Mara and More

Looking every part a fashionista is Jordin Sparks on her way to report for co-hosting duties on NBC's Today Show in New York City on January 30.  The singer/actress looked stylish and sophisticated in her tweed jacket with contrasting black leather arms and trim.  Just peeking from below the jacket, her fuchsia dress added just the right pop of colour.  And if I'm not mistaken, accessorizing her look with a matching book that even Carrie Bradshaw would approve of!  Now that's panache.

Did you know that Jordin teamed up with Wet Seal to create her own line of clothing, named, Sparks?  The line which launched in November 2008 features sizes from XS to XL.  Check it out at www.wetseal.com.

Friday Fabulous Fashionistas Are: Jennifer Aniston, Rooney Mara and More

And completing this week's line-up of fashionistas, is actress Rooney Mara when she walked the red carpet at the premiere of her film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at the Tokyo International Forum on January 30, which, if I didn't know better, looks more like the catwalk.  Rooney captured everyone's attention in this white halter Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci  dress.  One of the most uniquely, yet interesting looks by Givenchy, it captures the essence of a demure spirit contrasted with dramatic structured ruffles that dominate the haute couture look of the dress.  And somehow, it works!  Rooney has proven to have one of the most fashion-forward styles in Hollywood, rivaled only by few such as Tilda Swinton.  Can you imagine those two on the catwalk?

That's it for another week fashion lovers.  Thanks for dropping by.  Until next week, love and peace to you all!

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

Yes, Flawless is her middle name.  Modern Family nominee Sofia Vergara serves up yet another winner for one of the best dressed red carpet looks at last night's 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards 2012 in California.  Sofia wore a stunning fuchsia Marchesa gown with a dazzling "crumb catcher" neckline (that's becoming quite popular) and slightly gathered waistline.  This particular style is quite a departure from what we're used to seeing Sofia in, namely, the body hugging fishtail gown for which she's become popular.  But we're not complaining!  Because quite frankly, Sofia would look great in anything, wouldn't she?  Completing her look for the evening are stunning colored Lorraine Schwartz diamonds.

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

Continuing to make a fashionista name for herself on the red carpet is singer/actress Ashlee Simpson in a 20's style Jenny Packham gown at last night's awards.  The gown is embellished with sequins with an elegant tulle neckline and shoulders.  If there is one person who knows how to channel old Hollywood, it's definitely Ashlee.  She really suits that glamorous look of an era gone by.  But thank goodness for Ashlee for making it a timeless appeal.  Completing her look for the evening were Loree Rodkin jewels and a gaze that speaks for itself!

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

Just when she knocked it out of the ballpark only a couple of weeks ago at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco steps up to the plate again and decides to make it a double at last night's SAGs.  Kaley was breathtaking in a mint green Romona Keveza gown in a style reminiscent of old Hollywood.  The silhouette features a pleated sweetheart bodice with asymmetrical transition into an richly textured feather-like organza skirt.  All we need is for Kaley to show up looking this gorgeous at another awards show this season, and she's earned herself a hat trick!

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

No awards show is complete without a Greek goddess in attendance.  So the gods answered our prayers and bestowed upon us The Help actress, Viola Davis who was absolutely breathtaking in a white chiffon and antique gold embroidered detailed custom Marchesa strapless gown with sweetheart neckline.  The dress gives off a classic vibe that not just anyone can wear.  I love how Viola took that risk which paid off.  Absolutely radiant!

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

Soft, elegant and delicate but with a punch of colour!  Glee actress and singer Dianna Agron fashions a more feminine and romantic look last night in a deep fuchsia Carolina Herrera creation on the red carpet.  While there were many jewel embellished looks of the night, as there are with most awards shows, Dianna bravely takes a risk and comes out a winner!  Dianna wears the colour like a second skin.  The dress offers just the right amount of fluidity without going into overkill.  Dianna completed her look with jewels by Fred Leighton and Jimmy Choo 'Koko' sandals.  Look closely … it's the jewel wearing the dress!

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

A hemline above the rest, The Amazing Spider-Man actress, Emma Stone opted for a black strapless, short and flirty number by Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2012.  Reflective of Emma's individuality, the silhouette is brimming with energy and personality.  It's always nice to see at least one person wear something shorter than the rest.  Even better, a great way to show off her equally engaging Alexander McQueen black rose-ornamented heels.  However, if you think the dress and shoes are striking, this way folks as I direct you to the upper right to check out her museum-of-a-piece skull-and-horse clasp clutch also by Alexander McQueen.  Now that's what I call style!

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

Let's not forget Entertainment Tonight co-anchor, Nancy O'Dell who took time out from her news casting duties to strike a pose on the red carpet last night.  Nancy gave the others a run for their money in an elegant red strapless gown that featured delicate structured folds dominating the bodice, that catches up in the artistry of the skirt which even featured more delicate folds and floral-like designs.  Hmm … I think Nancy should just leave the microphone behind more often at these events.  Don't you?

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

Looking like she was sprinkled in star dust, actress Octavia Spencer glowed in a stunning Tadashi Shoji showpiece on last night's red carpet.  The actress who won for best supporting actress in The Help last night, dazzled in a silver creation by what appears to be one of her favorite designers.  (Octavia also wore Tadashi Shoji at this year's Golden Globes.)  That being said, I can't wait to see that love affair continued in a few weeks' time at this year's Oscars!  Aside from that, Octavia made a great choice in wearing her hair up in a never-out-of-season stylish bun.  Kudos to you Ms. Spencer!

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

If gorgeous George Clooney and girlfriend Stacy Keibler are hoping for best dressed and best looking couple honors, then this seals the deal!  George was dashing and dapper as ever in black Giorgia Armani, while Stacy donned a breathtaking black lace Marchesa gown with lace neckline and capped shoulders with just a hint of a train.  Stacy is breathtaking in black lace (and probably anything else).  She wore her hair perfectly for this dress – soft and sexy waves loosely pulled back with a fresh and natural look to her make-up.  Stacy's fashion sense has evolved so quickly into one of the most beautifully dressed women on the red carpet.  And I can only imagine what she'll show up in on Oscar night!

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

If covered shoulders are making a comeback, then so be it.  Especially if actress Julie Bowen is wearing them.  The Modern Family star put her best gown forward as she graced this year's SAGs in a majestic magenta Temperley London gown that draped elegantly to perfection.  The draped split sleeves were adorned with just the right touch of jewel embellishment, while the rest of the dress looked like she was born in it.  Julie completed her look with a Judith Leiber clutch and simply pulled back hair.

2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet Fashionistas

Not everyone has to wear avant-garde fashion to a red carpet event.  And if there's one celebrity who knows that, it's actress Natalie Portman.  So no surprises here as Natalie delights us once again with her elegant fashion sense in this stunning burgundy Giambattista Valli Spring 2012 Couture gown.  Chic and sophistication define the strapless creation delicately draped in silk chiffon with bow detail.  Natalie completes her look with just the right amount of jewels by Harry Winston and a Judith Leiber clutch.  Always a leader and never a follower, Natalie personifies a timeless and graceful beauty on the red carpet and, in my opinion, very much reminiscent of a young Audrey Hepburn.  Don't you think so?

That wraps up this year's SAG's red carpet fashion.  And I have to say that I was very, very pleased with this year's fashions.  Almost every star was, in her own right, the belle of the ball.  So how do you pick just one?  The answer's easy.  You can't!

Thank you for your readership, and until next time, love and peace!

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

Awards season is finally upon us and the 2012 Golden Globe Awards were held last night in Hollywood. And while the best of the best were acknowledged for their work in movies and television, it's only appropriate that recognition be given to the best of the best on the red carpet.  But I must tell you it wasn't easy choosing just one or five gowns from last night.  Especially where a variety of style and colour reigned the red carpet.  However, one trend was clear.  And to give you a hint, they're a girl's best friend.  That's right.  Bling, and lots of it!  So put on your sunglasses, sit back and enjoy my top 10 picks from last night!

Actress Charlize Theron is the epitome of what Hollywood dreams are made of!  For her look at last night's Golden Globes, Charlene turned to The House of Dior who came up with a paler shade of pink chiffon Haute Couture gown that turned her into a modern-day Grecian goddess.  The gown features a dramatic low cut front with an oversized but elegant bow on the side at the waist ornamented with just the right touch of bling.  The gown also features a thigh-high slit and a train that rules the red carpet.  For a finishing touch, Charlene graced her swept up golden tresses with a 1920s diamond Cartier headband, which could make any royal princess turn green with envy.

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

She is the star of television's hit comedy Modern Family, but when it comes to the red carpet, fashion is no laughing matter for actress Sofia Vergara.  Sofia showed off her famous curves in a jaw dropping, midnight blue Vera Wang gown with a one-of-a-kind fishtail hemline.  Keeping her hair very simple and swept over to one side, Sofia completed her look with  ̶  hope you're sitting down for this one  ̶  160 carats of Harry Winston jewels, including chandelier earrings and stacked bracelets.  Or, let me explain it to you this way – more than $5,000,000 worth!  And a hundred bucks says she had more security surrounding her than the President.

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

When a three-year old darling tells her mommy that she looks like a mermaid, there's only one thing mommy does and that's listen.  Such was the case for actress Jessica Alba who was perfection in this gorgeous greige beaded Gucci gown in one of the most beautiful shades of lavender to ever grace the red carpet.  The dress showed off Jessica's post-baby figure and the colour is quite flattering to her tanned skin tone and sculpted arms.  Jessica completed her look with Roger Vivier clutch and Bulgari chandelier earrings and bracelets.  Hmm … something tells me that little Honor Marie is following in mommy's fashion footsteps.

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

Known for her unconventional red carpet style, actress Tilda Swinton is a winner in this sophisticated and elegant light blue dress and jacket ensemble by Haider Ackerman.  To add sparkle to her look, Tilda wore a 1940s sapphire, diamond and 18 carat gold coil cuff bracelet with Edwardian style diamond and platinum brooches, all by Fred Leighton.  Tilda is one of the most fashion-forward fashionistas in Hollywood and usually sticks to a very avant-garde style.  So this look is quite a change from what we're used to seeing her in.  Nevertheless, fashion is all about taking risks and this one worked very well in her favour!  What do you think?

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

Making her return to the red carpet after the birth of her son Aleph in June, is last year's Golden Globe and Oscar Best Actress winner, Natalie Portman.  Natalie channels old Hollywood in this stunning strapless, silk fuschia gown by Lanvin trimmed in red, matching her clutch.  The waist features a side bustle, which really adds charm to the gown.  (Without it, the dress would lose its appeal.)  Natalie completes her look with Jimmy Choo sandals, Tiffany & Co. clutch and more than 55 carats of Harry Winston diamonds. (Hmm … does that include her engagement ring?) Yes, diamonds are indeed a girl's best friend!

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

At just 20 years old, actress Shailene Woodley, is quickly becoming a red carpet favourite.  The 2012 Golden Globe nominee chose an age-befitting gorgeous pale lavender, art deco style gown by Marchesa Spring 2012, opting for a minimal amount of jewellery, and keeping her make-up soft and natural.  Despite the fact that the diamonds were flowing all over the red carpet last night (and not that I'm complaining), Shailene still looks stunning.  And although she didn't win last night, she's definitely a winner on the red carpet!  Looking forward to seeing her at the Oscars.

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

While most actresses chose colour last night, Debra Messing strikes a stunning silhouette in black Monique Lhuillier.  The one-shoulder couture creation features asymmetrical ruching that shows off Debra's svelte figure, with a fully draped skirt and train with a gently lifted bustle to offer just the right amount of elegance and drama without over doing it.  To complete her look, Debra chose a pair of unique amethyst and emerald earrings with matching emerald ring.  Definitely one of the best looks of the night!

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

Modern Family star, Julie Bowen, channels Grace Kelly (upper right) in this ethereal nude-blush gown by Reem Acra.  The gown features a full tulle skirt and bodice with sweetheart neckline and beaded short sleeves.  Keeping her jewelry minimal, Julie completed her look with Judith Leiber clutch.  Julie truly looked like old Hollywood especially with her luscious curls gently flipped over.  In an interview with Ryan Seacrest before the ceremony, Julie told him that she thought the gown was "very girlie" for her tastes.  I say nonsense!  It's refreshing to see the style of an era gone by brought back to life.  Don`t you?

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

Does Kate Beckinsale ever disappoint?  Obviously not.  Kate was, once again, picture perfect in a stunning strapless Roberto Cavalli couture gown.  The body-hugging silhouette releases into a beautiful cascading fishtail train with delicate crystal embellishments throughout the dress.  As you can see, Kate was also adorned in stacked diamond bracelets and oversized (and I mean that in the  nicest way) earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.  Check them out above.  Aren`t they magnificent?  (Now, if Sofia Vergara was sporting $5,000,000 worth of diamonds last night, I can`t even begin to imagine how much Kate was wearing.)  I guess a girl can never have enough bling-bling.  However, something tells me that Kate (and her friends) had to return the gems by midnight.

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

She may not be starring in any television or movie roles, but George Clooney's leading lady, Stacy Keibler, takes centre stage in this body hugging red-hot number last night that showed off her model assets, complimented by Chopard jewels.  The no-fuss dress features just a slight fish tail hem with bow-tie back and low cut bodice which gives it an essence of simple elegance.  Stacy is a sweetheart and carries herself in the most distinguished manner, which begs the question.  Can you believe this woman was once a wrestler?  Truth be told, Georgie boy better not step out of line.  Just sayin'.

That's a wrap for another awards night!  I hope you enjoyed my picks.  What are your favourites?  In my opinion, they're all winners.

I'll see you here at the end of the week and until then, live, love and laugh!
