Salma Hayek Got Butlerized While Her Husband Watched!

Salma Hayek Got Butlerized While Her Husband Watched!

After Gerard Butler did his bit for his new movie (which hasn’t been made yet) at the Millennium Films party, he headed down the road to the Hotel du Cap in Antibes to yet another A-list affair, the Gucci/Vanity Fair bash.  It was there that Mrs. Francois-Henri Pinault, the wife of the billionaire CEO of PPR (which owns Gucci) and otherwise known as Salma Hayak, came under the spell of our boy. There can be no other explanation for this photograph. And look at Francois-Henri smiling and trying to pretend it’s not happening. (Poor Mrs. Pinault deserves a freebie after the week she’s had.)  G looks a little like he wishes it weren't. He can't help it if he has that effect on women. It is his curse.

I’m sure we’ll have more by the end of the day as the Cannes party watch continues. Enjoy the pics!

Tension on the Red Carpet: What’s Up with Tom Hardy & Shia LaBeouf?

Tom Hardy Weekend Continues: Pics from the Lawless Premiere

I need someone to tell me what is going on in this pic. Are they about to come to blows right there on the red carpet?? Is Shia telling Tom his is cat is on the roof*? It looks both oddly inappropriate and strangely compelling. I’m not a huge Shia LaBeouf fan, but I have to say, these pics from the Lawless premiere at Cannes are the best I’ve ever seen.

I hope you’re not tired of hearing about this movie yet, but when I find pretty pictures of pretty people promoting flicks that we’ve been talking about (and that I’m especially interested in, let’s be honest) I have to post them.

Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf, despite the surly expressions, cleaned up well. I like Shia’s longer hair and Hardy’s beard is growing on me. (I’m surprised there isn’t a tumblr called “Tom Hardy’s Beard” yet.) Even the always gorgeous Guy Pearce was sporting facial hair, albeit he just looked like he didn’t feel like shaving that day. I don’t blame him. I don’t think I’d like having to drag a razor across my face every day to satisfy social convention. I applaud men who don’t.

Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain looked beautiful. Chastain, as I may have mentioned before, is my new girl-crush. And so far, she seems to be owning Cannes. She has two movies screening at the fest, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted as well as the in-competition Lawless and she’s been a fixture at the glamorous parties, like the Haiti benefit Friday night.  She always looks bright-eyed and fabulous, impeccably dressed and smiling like she’s just having the time of her life (and let’s face it, she probably is). She was the only one who looked like they were having any fun at the Lawless photocall on Saturday morning.

Enjoy the pics. We’ll have more on the goings on in Cannes all week long and of course, more on Lawless as we get it.

*an old joke about not giving someone bad news all at once. Instead of blurting out the cat is dead, you start with "the cat is on the roof".

Gerard Butler Attends a $100Million Beach Party at Cannes!

Gerard Butler Attends a $100Million Beach Party at Cannes!

Okay, who wants more Gerard Butler? C’mon, I can’t be the only one with my hand in the air! (Cannes goes on for another week people, get used to it.)

Looking a little tired after last night’s merriment, which went on til the wee hours (and who knows how long Butler’s own after-party went on *wink wink nudge nudge*), G had to put on a suit and make nice with the other suits as he attended a party on Baoli Beach hosted by Millennium Films and its chairman Avi Lerner. (Avi's the one with the shock of white hair. You may have seen him courtside at a Lakers Game with G recently.) You can tell G's working and not socializing since his manager &/or publicist are in nearly every shot. The party was to announce a new three-year, $100-million co-financing and co-production partnership with West Coast Film Partners. The deal calls for the two companies to collaborate on two or three films per year beginning with the Antoine Fuqua-directed White House Taken (formerly known as Olympus Has Fallen) which features Butler as a disgraced Secret Service agent who fights back when North Koreans take over the White House.

Millennium will next release The Expendables 2, The Paperboy, which is in competition at the festival, and Playing The Field, which also stars Gerard Butler.

Four Prometheus Promotions: Possible Spoilers Ahead

Four Prometheus Promotions: Possible Spoilers Ahead

In today’s Prometheus news, we have a completely ridiculous promotional tool as well as a brilliant onem a poster that looks to contain a spoiler and not nearly enough Michael Fassbender and some new images from Sir Ridley Scott's in-depth interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Let’s start with the poster. It comes from Malaysia even though it’s in English. It looks more like a traditional movie one-sheet than anything we’ve seen thus far for Prometheus, but it also seems to stick a big spoiler right in the center of it, (For that reason, I’ve left it to the bottom of the post. Don’t view if you don’t want to know.) and Michael Fassbender’s David is nowhere in sight.

Four Prometheus Promotions: Possible Spoilers Ahead

Speaking of Fassbender, in a classic case of “what’s wrong with this picture?” I have to ask,WTF is going on with this promo? Fassbender and Sir Ridley Scott are apparently schilling for beer. Movie tie-ins are usually ridiculous (Chocolate Iced Coffee for Men in Black III? Berry-flavored Mountain Dew for The Dark Knight Rises? Those are just two examples from this year alone.), but perhaps because it’s for a movie from a director I respect and an actor I revere, that this seems especially repugnant. Oh well, those special effects and that massive set cost money (Over $120million). Fox has to pay the bills. (As if the movie isn’t going to make more than the combined GNP of most of Africa.)

To get the taste of that out of our mouths, we have yet another viral video from the vaults of the Weyland Corporation. It appears to be Elizabeth Shaw’s (Noomi Rapace) personal plea to be included in any exploration of the alien pictographs that she’s discovered. It’s called “The Quiet Eye” and it’s meant to appear to look as if it leaked from her personnel files. It debuted on the Verizon FiOS Facebook. If you’ve been following the marketing campaign for Prometheus, you’re going to want to watch this.

Finally, check the images from that THR interview in which Sir Ridley confirms that Prometheus "pays heavy tribute to author Erich von Daniken’s ideas in his 1968 book 'Chariots of the Gods?' — which argued that we are not alone and another sentient entity might have spawned us."

Prometheus is one week away for those in the UK and two weeks for us in the US and Canada. The original screenplay was originally written by Jon Spaihts (The Darkest Hour) and Damon Lindelof ("Lost", Cowboys & Aliens, Star Trek 2).

Tom Hardy & Co. at the Lawless Photocall!

Tom Hardy & Co. at the Lawless Photocall!

The Bondurant Brothers: Jack (Shia LaBeouf), Forest (Tom Hardy) and Howard (Jason Clarke)

I guess I’ve unofficially declared this Tom Hardy Day here at I Need My Fix (I’m sure Fearless Leader won’t mind).  After the posters for Lawless, we now have some pics from the Lawless photocall ahead of the screening held today in Cannes. They’re so far ahead of us here in North America, time wise, that it’s already happened.

While I was still posting pics of last night’s big bash for Haiti, Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain, along with their costars Shia LaBeouf, Guy Pearce, Jason Clarke, Mia Wasikowska and Dane DeHaan were already getting up to have their pictures taken.  Also in the lineup, were the director of Lawless (as well as The Road and The Proposition), John Hillcoat and its screenwriter, Nick Cave. (Yes, that Nick Cave. The musician/writer also did the music for the film.)

At the post-screening press conference, Hardy said that while he appreciated being compared to Brando, it’s his three-time costar Gary Oldman whom he looks up to. “I think he’s basically God,” he said. “He’s one of my heroes, completely. I did nothing but glean from him. “

In competition for the fest’s Palm D’Or, reviews coming out of Cannes are so far very favorable. Lawless opens in the US on August 31.

Charlize Theron is a Trash Talking Diva!

New Pic Post: Snow White and the Huntsman, Men in Black III, Prometheus, The Avengers & Riddick

Charlize Theron along with costars Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart sat down for one of Moviefone’s Unscripted Interview segments in promotion of their new film Snow White and the Huntsman (perhaps you’ve heard of it?) The questions themselves are not very interesting but we do learn a bit about these three from their answers and their banter.

Kristen Stewart is obviously very shy (either that or she’s on crack). While she does seem to have a good relationship with  her costars, she doesn’t like addressing the camera when talking about herself.  Hemsworth seemed both the most natural and had the least to say. Theron was clearly the “leader” of this group, which makes sense given that Oscar and her experience.

Someone needs to get Charlize Theron a comedy. She’s got a great sense of humor that the serious nature of most of her roles does not allow to come through. She’s also not afraid to poke fun at herself as the “diva” moment in the first video shows. She also drops more F-bombs in the main interview than Gerard Butler ever thought about. (If Abigail Breslin had gotten a hold of her on the set of Nim’s Island, she’d have gotten Theron’s whole paycheck.*)

Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman also stars Sam Claflin, Lily Cole, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones, Nick Frost, Eddie Marsan and Bob Hoskins. It opens everywhere on June 1.

*during the filming of 2008’s Nim’s Island, then 12 year old Abigail Breslin made her costar pay a penalty into a “swear jar” every time Gerard Butler let fly with an expletive. She made quite a bit of money for a local Australian animal charity.

Hey, I Found TOM HARDY! More Lawless Character Posters!

Hey, I Found TOM HARDY! More Lawless Character Posters!

I have no idea why no one seemed to have these poster for John Hillcoat’s Lawless all together or all at once yesterday, but it doesn’t matter now since I found TOM HARDY, as well as GARY OLDMAN and even Jason Clarke who plays oldest Bondurant brother, Howard. Hardy plays Forest, the middle brother, the one who endures, the brother driven to succeed, who seems to lack the capacity to enjoy the fruits of his labors, except for Maggie.  Hardy and Chastain are said to have some really incendiary love scenes in this film. Chastain is reportedly worried about watching them during the Cannes screening surrounded by a few hundred “friends and family”. (Apparently she gets naked repeatedly.)

Lawless is a bootlegging drama set in Depression-era Franklin County, Virginia, about a family of moonshiners that are threatened by authorities who want a cut of their profits.  As I already mentioned, the film is currently in competition for the Palm D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

I also mentioned that I think these posters look like they could be period photographs taken by Dorothea Lange. I wasn’t crazy about the first teaser poster put out with the trailer, but these are spectacular.  (You can see the ones I posted yesterday here.)

Lawless is currently set to open in the US on August 31. I can not wait!

For $100,000 I Could Have Had a Date With Gerard Butler!

For $100,000 I Could Have Had a Date With Gerard Butler!

That title works best if you think of it being whined at a high volume like Sally as she sits in the pumpkin patch after discovering she's missed out on "tricks or treats".

Haitian Carnival Raised $1Million dollars last night for Paul Haggis’ Artists for Peace & Justice, Sean Penn’s H/P  and Petra Nemcova’s HelpingHands.org, at an elegant, fun dinner packed with A list names.

In palatial tent behind the Palais du Festival, Gerard Butler, Jessica Chastain, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger, Ezra Miller, Tom Hardy (excuse me? Where are THOSE pics?), Harvey Weinstein, Ewan McGregor, David Schwimmer, Sean Combs and a lot of very rich people were on hand for the Armani sponsored soiree.

Forbes called the bash a “much cooler affair than most Cannes fundraisers, with a hilarious auction.” At one point, a package of tickets to the Golden Globes and various parties was “only” up to $70,00. So once again Haggis threw Gerard Butler into the pot as a “sweetener”, brought him to the podium, and offered a date with him. Finally a man, Patrice Otsepe of African Rainbow Minerals, offered $100,000 “without Gerry Butler.” He won and G was reportedly thrilled not to have go on a date with a stranger. *coughyeahrightlikethatNEVERhappenscough*

As promised, here are the pics I found of the carnival that is Gerard Butler attending the Haitian Carnival in Cannes! Enjoy!
