Are You Lookin’ At Me, Mr. Statham?

Are You Lookin' At Me, Mr. Statham?

That look says it all, doesn't it? I wonder if the photographer peed a little. Jason Statham continues his love-affair with the paps while out for a walk in Runyon Canyon with a friend. He always has that same expression on his face. Not that they don't exist, but I have yet to see a picture of him talking with fans (or I've seen it and it's so rare I've forgotten it).

Sheri reported earlier in the month that we are going to see the Stath in Expendables 2 and of course included a video for your viewing pleasure. He could blow up my house and I would polish his shoes for him. Just because he would probably blow up my house with perfection and precision, like a boss.

The Expendables 2: Sylvester Stallone and His Psychotic Gang of Mutts Are Back!

The Expendables 2: Sylvester Stallone and His Psychotic Gang of Mutts Are Back!

“Find ‘em, track ‘em, kill ‘em”

“My shoe is bigger than this car!”

“I now pronounce you man and knife”

So many ridiculous, quotable lines, so little space!  Time to reload boys and girls! As promised yesterday by a snarling Terry Crews, Lionsgate has dropped the new trailer for The Expendables 2 and it is everything I thought it would be: loud, insane, and a total hoot! I can’t wait!

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) – with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard – are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time – six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother.

The Expendables 2 opens in the US on August 17 in the US and the UK. Check out the bonus grab bag full of images from the film below!

Terry Crews Says Hell No! This is Not the New Trailer for The Expendables 2

11 Tough Guys, A Chick and Liam Hemsworth Get Posters for Expendables 2!

Simultaneously mocking the trend of releasing trailer for trailers and actually generating some renewed interest in The Expendables 2, Terry Crews boisterously introduces this thirty second mayhem-filled clip in which a lot of sh*t blows up.  Crews defies you not to be pumped for the actual trailer which is coming on Thursday. (He also appears to have a rash of some sort.)

The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal… Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way….

Jason Statham Looks Anything But Safe at London Premiere

Jason Statham Looks Anything But Safe at London Premiere

Thank you sir, may I have another…

Jason Statham (with nary a stick-bug in sight) was in London tonight, probably on a break from filming Hummingbird just up the road, at the BFI IMAX for the European premiere of Boaz Yakin’s Safe.

Looking resplendent in a grey suit, eschewing a tie and leaving his Hollywood hipster shades in place, The Stath and his manly-muscled head greeted fans and signed autographs on the red carpet and didn’t look miserable doing it.

Safe is already open here in the US. The movie, by the way, actually lives up to the hype. It’s a cut above your usual mayhem filled, martial-arts and bullets Statham actioner. The Stath gets to be both all-Stathy and vulnerable too, and he’s great with Catherine Chan who plays Mei. “It’s good business.”  The film opens in the UK on Friday May 4. (They have all seen The Avengers already. Europe has to have something to watch this weekend!)

A Saturday Pot Full of Pretty Posters!

A Saturday Pot Full of Pretty Posters!

It’s time for another super exciting posters post! First up, Men in Black III which stars Will Smith as J and Tommy Lee Jones as K with Josh Brolin along  for the ride as a younger version of same.

We’ve seen some pretty impressive stuff from the the Barry Sonnenfeld directed threequel, including the superfantastic  futuristic-but-used-in-the-psychedelic-60’s flying unicycles that are pictured on this brand new poster.

In the third installment of the series Agents J (Smith) and K (Jones) are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake,Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discoversthat there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.

Men in Black III opens May 25 in the US, Canada and the UK.

Next up, a new poster for The Words, the film we told you about back in January with Bradley Cooper,  Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Irons and Olivia Wilde.

The Words revolves around Rory (Cooper), a struggling writer who claims another man’s long lost work as his own. Caught up in a dangerous conspiracy, the price he must pay is more than he could have ever imagined.

The trouble starts when Dora, Rory’s wife (Saldana) comes across “a valise” in an antiques shop. The valise contains a “lost masterwork” of a  “Hemingway-esque writer” played by Jeremy Irons.

The Words is both written and directed by Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal. The supporting cast includes Ben Barnes, John Hannah, J.K. Simmons, Michael McKean, Zeljko Ivanek and Ron Rifkin. We now have a US release date of September 21. Still no word on the UK.

A Saturday Pot Full of Pretty Posters!

After we brought you thirteen new character posters the other day, here’s a new one-sheet for Simon West’s The Expendables 2 with Sylvester Stallone front and center. I’ve seen the trailer twice this weekend on the big screen. This one will be just as much fun as the first!

The Expendables 2 opens August 17 in the US and the UK.

A Saturday Pot Full of Pretty Posters!

Here’s a first poster for House at the End of the Street with Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Shue. The doesn’t do much except make sure you know that Jennifer Lawrence is in the movie.  I saw this trailer on the big screen this weekend as well. Still not impressed.

Newly divorced Sarah and her daughter Elissa find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. They find themselves living next door to a house where a young girl murdered her parents…

House At The End Of The Street starring Lawrence, Shue, Max Thieriot  (Chloe,My Soul to Take) and Gil Bellows, moves into theaters September 21.

A Saturday Pot Full of Pretty Posters!

And finally, we have an international poster for Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise as ‘rock God’ Stacee Jaxx. All of the other characters are present and accounted for as well. Personally, I think Alec Baldwin alone will be worth the price of a ticket.

Directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray) and based on the Tony Award nominated Broadway musical, Rock of Ages is set in 1987and follows a fresh off the bus sweet-young-thing who comes to LA with stars in her eyes and big '80s hair (Julianne Hough). There, she meets a nice guy with ambitions of his own (Diego Boneta). When they meet, it's love at first sight, though their romance will face a series of challenges as they are seduced by the sex-drugs and rocknroll way of life personified by superstar Stacee Jaxx (Cruise), who meanwhile is falling for music journalist Malin Akerman.

The cast features Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige and  Catherine Zeta Jones. It also features Will Forte, Bryan Cranston and Constantine Maroulis. Rock of Ages opens June 15 in the Us and the UK.

11 Tough Guys, A Chick and Liam Hemsworth Get Posters for The Expendables 2!

11 Tough Guys, A Chick and Liam Hemsworth Get Posters for Expendables 2!

Our man Jason Statham has a new movie opening today. It’s called Safe. You might remember us mentioning it a few times. But, Lionsgate wants to remind you that The Stath will be back later this summer as part of that muscle-bound, really ratty pack of bad boys in The Expendables 2, a sequel (whodathunkit?) to 2010’s The Expendables.  Up top is a new image from the film, featuring The Guvernator, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis, but even better, check out the gallery of badassery down below. We have character posters full of menace, mayhem and big guns for nearly everyone including Statham, Stallone, Willis, Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Jean Claude Van Damm, Yu Nan and even little Liam Hemsworth who looks much too sweet for this posse.

The ringleaders are of course  Stallone as Barney Ross and Statham as his right hand man Lee Christmas. Here’s the official synopsis:

The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal… Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way….

The Expendables 2: Electric Bugaloo…(sorry, not really) opens August 17 in the US and the UK.   Thanks to Collider for amassing the posters.

Jason Statham on the Set of Hummingbird – Wanna Hold His Umbrella?

Jason Statham on the Set of Hummingbird - Wanna Hold His Umbrella?

It’s been an entire month since we’ve seen any new pics from the London set of action-thriller,  Hummingbird, our man Jason Statham’s new movie currently filming for first time director Steven Knight.  Knight, who also wrote the screenplay, is best known for writing the Oscar-nominated script for David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises. There's actually a lot of talent behind the scenes here, including the Oscar nominated cinematographer Chris Menges.

The film sees The Stath as “a veteran haunted by a tragic past who assumes the identity of an upper class Londoner”.  I already gave my opinion on that subject. I can’t wait to hear his version of an “upper class” London accent. We’ll see if he’s able to mute the chav in his own.

His character’s girlfriend is found dead, and he has to stop hiding from his past, and go on the hunt for those responsible. I have no doubt that will call for Jason Statham to be all “Stath-y” all over the damn place.

Today’s pics show our man looking much different than he did in the previous batch. Two things come immediately to mind. 1. Who made that suit? 2. Is the umbrella holder part of the film or will he be CGI’d out? Perhaps part of being an upper class Londoner comes with one’s own personal umbrella holder.

Lionsgate has already picked Hummingbird up for distribution in 2013. They have announced March 15 as the US release date. (I do not trust any March release dates. They ALWAYS move, but it’s a start).  Nothing for the UK yet, however.  The cast has added Vicky McClure (This is England), Benedict Wong (Prometheus), Jason Wong (Missing) and Siobhan Hewlett. More as we get it!

Trust Me: You REALLY Want to Watch This Clip from Safe!

The Stath Shows Off Various Forms of His Scowl: New Images from Safe!

When was the last time, when given the option, you did NOT skip the ad in front of a video you wanted to see?  I can’t remember either…until this one.

We have a new clip from Boaz Yakin’s Safe featuring Jason Statham being all “Stath-y” with his big guns and fast cars and being noble, rescuing twelve-year old girls and such.  It’s good, don’t get me wrong. It is definitely testosterone-fueled and adrenaline charged action packed.

Sure it's Statham to the rescue and all that, but first, as an amuse bouche, you have to watch the ad in front of it. I think it’s for Tequila, which probably accounts for my craving for something salty…yeah that’s it.  And there’s an adorable kitten. Like the man says, kittens make everything better.  Although here, it’s just overkill really.

Back to the movie…

Safe opens in the US on Friday April 27 and on 4th May in the UK. It stars our man Statham as well as Robert John Burke, Chris Sarandon, Anson Mount, James Hong, Reggie Lee and Catherine Chan. Enjoy the clip!
