More Bat Action as The Dark Knight Rises Continues to Film in NYC!

More Bat Action as The Dark Knight Rises Continues to Film in NYC!

There was rampant speculation last week that Christopher Nolan’s production of The Dark Knight Rises was going to ‘occupy Wall Street’ right along with Occupy Wall Street, as well as an equal measure of denial. I can only imagine they sought to avoid creating chaos while they were creating their own controlled, theatrical version of chaos.

As it happens, Nolan has been shooting on Wall Street and its environs for the better part of a week, continuing into the weekend.  The only brouhaha was of the planned variety  as they filmed a  mass brawl between the minions of Tom Hardy 's Bane (ex-cons for the most part) and the Gotham City police, led by, of course, Batman (Christian Bale). You can see some fake flakes flying in some of the pics as this was a continuation or recreation of some of the scenes shot in Pittsburgh over the summer. This has been a long shoot already, having been to LA for a few weeks as well.

Check out the pics below. Without getting all spoiler-y, we’ve got more Bane, more Bruce Wayne, more John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a first look at Matthew Modine as Nixon and a quick peek at Selina Kyle (or Anne Hathaway) as well as the camouflaged Bat Tumbler.

The Dark Knight Rises opens everywhere July 20, 2012.

Your Chance to Be A Part of The Dark Knight Rises!

The Dark Knight Rises Gets a Teaser Poster!

Famed composer Hans Zimmer is inviting anyone and everyone to add their voices to the chorus of The Dark Knight Rises!

The official invitation: “I’m shining the bat-signal up into the sky to call you all! We need to hear your voices! Now and Loud! We are creating the sound of a worldwide chant. Everyone come and be part of it. It’s easy: There is no such thing as out-of-tune, no timing we can’t fix later. If you mumble, growl, scream or whisper, it’s all good. Make it yours. If you only get halfway through, no problem! Do it alone, bring your friends, but do it with energy and commitment. Let your voice be heard and be a part of our adventure!”

All you have to do is go to the official site, UJAM and record your voice!

Zimmer composed the music (along with James Newton Howard) for the first two of Nolan’s Batman films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. He flies solo on this one and many are hoping this signals a darker tone for the film as well as the music. I’ve long been a fan of the German-born Zimmer. He’s also currently at work on the score for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and I loved his work for the first one, but his credits make up too long a list to print here. I would wager that not only have you heard many of them but some are among your favorites. I can’t wait to hear his latest offerings!

The Dark Knight Rises starring Christian Bale as Batman and Tom Hardy as arch-villain Bane, opens July 20, 2012 everywhere.

New Images as The Dark Knight Rises Films in Gotham City!

New Images as The Dark Knight Rises Films in Gotham City!

Filming for the last installment in Christopher Nolan's Batman series, The Dark Knight Rises, has come back to Gotham…I mean New York City. We've got some new set pics to share that give us a glimpse of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Gotham PD cop John Blake as well as Christian Bale in Bruce Wayne mode. We've also got a couple of pics of Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon.

That big silver sphere in some of the pics, speculation among the more geekily inclined is that it's Bane's 'Instrument of Our Liberation' or 'Earthquake Device', a type of neutron bomb or microwave emmiter. I do not pretend to know the scientific ins and outs or ramifications of such a device, other than I think Bane's gonna blow some sh*t up! There were internet rumors of an 'official plot synopsis' but those have largely been dispelled. Stay tuned!

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters everywhere on July 20, 2012.
