Betty White Appears in Super Bowl Commercial For ‘The Voice’

Betty White Appears in Super Bowl Commercial For 'The Voice'

If you aren't into football like I'm not into football then you probably like the commercials and the half time show the best. Betty White appears in a commercial for the new season of The Voice which also features Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and of course Cee Lo Green (who also performed half time with Madonna).

In the ad the four stars are combating one another to get to the person whose voice they hear singing beautiful. The 60 second piece was directed by Peter Berg. The 'Voice Kombat' parodies 'Mortal Kombat'.

When they reach the vocalist Betty White says to them:

It's about time somebody wanted me for my voice," White says seductively, "and not my body."

The Voice will premiere right after the Super Bowl.

New Clip and Candy-Colored Pics from Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax!

New Clip and Candy-Colored Pics from Dr. Seuss' The Lorax!

We have a new clip from Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax! The clip is called “Animal Surprise” and it’s a hilarious scene wherein The Once-ler (voiced by Ed Helms) wakes to find The Lorax (Danny DeVito) in his bed and his house infested with bears and other forest creatures.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, is based on classic Seuss tale of Ted, a 12-year-old boy (Zac Efron) who searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of Audrey, the girl of his dreams (Taylor Swift). To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. Bit of trivia: Ted and Audrey are named after Dr. Seuss (whose real name was Theodore Seuss Geisel) and his (second) wife, Audrey.

Other voices in the cast include Rob Riggle, Jenny Slate, Marina Sirtis and Betty White as Grammy Norma.  Universal will release Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (the first film to feature Universal’s 100th Anniversary logo) on March 2 in the US and Canada and 27th July in the UK.  Enjoy the clip and as well as the colorful new images, including the cast at work!

Two New International Posters for Dr. Seuss The Lorax

Two New International Posters for Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is another one of those movies that feels as if we’ve been talking about it forever and I just want to see it already! (We just brought you the launch of the movie’s Facebook campaign for the 60 day countdown a couple of weeks ago but January feel s like it’s dragging. As usual). The movie is a  “3D-CGI …adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope.”  Surely you remember it from your childhood, you know that window of time before  your misspent youth?

“The animated adventure follows the journey of a boy as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams.  To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Danny DeVito will lend his vocal talents to the iconic title character of the Lorax, while Ed Helms will voice the enigmatic Once-ler.  Also bringing their talents to the film are global superstars Zac Efron as Ted, the idealistic young boy who searches for the Lorax, and Taylor Swift as Ashley, the girl of Ted’s dreams.  Rob Riggle will play financial king O’Hare, and beloved actress Betty White will portray Ted’s wise Grammy Norma.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is the third feature created by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me, Hop).”

I love the candy colored posters we’ve been getting for this and the animation seems appropriately Seussian (a style that seems to be a specialty of Illumination Entertainment). Of the two new international posters I like the Dutch version better since it includes The Once-ler. The Spanish version does give a nice glimpse of Thneedville. Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax opens March 2 in the US, but not until 27th July in the UK.

Happy 90th Birthday Betty White!

Happy 90th Birthday Betty White!

The most beloved lady in America and quite possibly the world is celebrating her 90th birthday today. Who other than Betty White could we be talking about?

With a career that started a couple a few months after high school graduation in 1939 it has seen her blaze trails in memorable roles such as the frisky Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She went on to play Rose Nylund of The Golden Girls, Catherine Piper on Boston Legal, and most recently Elka Ostrovsky the alleged pot-smoking senior in Hot in Cleveland. Those are just four roles of the she has played from 1939 to now with there being far too many to mention.

When not starring in television sitcoms, she was the queen of the game shows where she met husband number three Allen Ludden who was the love of her life. They married June 14, 1963 and were married until his death on June 9, 1981. She has stayed single yet and devoted her life to her love of animals.

In 1988 she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame beside her beloved husband Allen Ludden.

At 90 her career is busier than ever and the demand for her is not slowing down. Last night her Hollywood friends and former colleagues paid tribute to her with a birthday celebration on NBC that was followed up with her latest project ‘Off Their Rockers’, a hidden-camera show that sees seniors prank the younger generation. Betty is an executive producer for this hysterical show.

In 2010 she set precedent on Saturday Night Live as being the oldest host ever. This year she inked a deal to write two books for G.P. Putnam Sons to add to the two she has already written.

When Amy Poehler paid tribute to her on her Birthday Special she remarked how after a 15 hour rehearsal day she still had more energy than the entire cast. It is mind-boggling to think about her career and how it is hotter than ever. AT 90!!!!! And beyond that she is so very sweet and her love of animals is legend. She's the perfect naughty grandma, although she's never had kids of her own.

Okay I realize this reads a bit like an obituary but it is not. She is so remarkable and this is a celebration of her incredible life. But she has to live forever, okay?

We LOVE you Betty White and we wish you a very Happy Birthday and can’t wait to see what the next 10 years in your career brings!

Betty White Gets Butler-ized on National Television

Betty White Gets Butlerized on National Television

Last night, Thursday January 12, Betty White was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Also on the program was Gerard Butler (hmm…which one do you think I tuned in to see?) Within 10 seconds of meeting Butler, Betty was flirting. Oh yeah, she got a shot of “The Juice” first-hand. The hussy. She asked him how he felt about older women, to which he replied “I feel pretty good about you.”

Betty obviously has no qualms about dating younger men (and let’s face it, she’s 90-aren’t they all?) Jay held up a pic of Betty with RPattz and then showed a clip from her 90th birthday television special in which Zachary Levi (from Chuck, an NBC show, the network on which the special will be aired. Coincidence? I think not.) proposed marriage and then sealed the proposition with a kiss. I repeat…the hussy. Isn’t Levi enough? Leave G for the rest of us.

Enough about her. Gerard was there to talk about Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus. (You’ve heard of that one, right constant reader?) Of course he had to talk about his by now infamous near-death experience that occurred while shooting another new film, Of Men and Mavericks.

I won’t rehash it here. It’s much better when he tells it…in that voice…and that accent…with that hair…*thud*….sorry…where was I?

We also got to see some photos that he and his bud Freddy Bosche took of themselves on their motorcycle trip through the south last Spring. Now those were scary.

Watch the HULU vids, enjoy the pics (Sorry about the NBC watermark but to make up for it I've included a few from last week's Graham Norton appearance as well). Coriolanus opens next week January 20.  (Maybe we’ll get a few more chat-show appearances before G goes back underground.)
