Bret Michaels is grateful to be alive and he has the medical staff at the Barrow Neurological Institute to thank for that. Two years ago (April 23, 2010) he was rushed to the hospital after suffering a blinding headache that turned out to be a hemorrhage at the base of his brain (subarachnoid hemorrhage). More often than not people that do not get treatment in a timely manner will likely experience a second bleed that has a 70% mortality rate.

The hospital is celebrating 50 years of good work and Bret recorded this video to wish them well but more importantly to thank them for saving his life:

"I want to thank all of my good friends at Barrow who saved my life," says Bret. "Without them I wouldn't be standing here today."

He's looking great and healthy, isn't he?

Christmas at the home of Bret Michaels is lively and loud and sounds pretty freaking awesome if you ask me. He shared his Christmas card exclusively with US Weekly and tells the magazine:

"My family wakes up at the crack of dawn," he told Us. "We grab guitars and jam!"

Can you imagine? Not being a morning person he would probably be wearing guitar strings instead of hair extensions if I had to wake up to that loudness. 

Bret's fellow rockers on Christmas morning will include his beautiful fiancee Kristi Lynne Gibson and daughters Raine 11 and Jorja 6.

Do you like his Christmas card? it would have been nice if he didn't bother with the shirt.

Poison leader rocker Bret Michaels is expanding his brand and into the pet industry no less. I haven't researched this to know, but it's a safe assumption he is the first rocker to do so.

Bret is teaming up with PetSmart to launch a line of pet products next summer. Woof baby woof. The line will be called Pet Rocks which is a bit surprising being he is a rocker and all. I would expect doggy style or something to that effect. Oink. He released a statement on the joint venture:

"As a dedicated pet owner myself, this is a natural partnership for me, and I can't wait to unveil the collection,” the singer said. “I know my own pets rock, and I wanted to design a line of pet products every bit as fun and cool as they are."

Seriously I love this man just a little bit more. You can expect dog bowls, collars, leashes, clothing and dog beds. Did I mention I love this guy just a little bit more?

VP of merchandising for Pet Smart, Matt McAdams says:

“Our pet parents have told us they want unique, high-quality products for their pets that are also fun and reflective of their personalities," "Adding the Bret Michaels Pets Rock collection to PetSmart stores enables us to continue to meet our pet parents' needs with a 'cool' line of products from an entertainer with a demonstrated passion for our four-legged family members."

I love that he loves animals that much. It was through his reality show that PetSmart saw the potential for a partnership with the bandana-wearing rocker.

Bret Michaels went through a super rough patch with his near death experience.  And I think that anyone who went through something like that would want to find answers.  And once they did, if there was someone to blame, they’d want to get their “revenge.”  So when I got word of Bret’s plans, I couldn’t blame him.

Bret Michaels Lookin’ Good Post Surgery

Bret is blaming the peeps at the 2009 Tony Awards for causing the brain hemorrhage he suffered, after he was smacked in the head by a piece of scenery when leaving the stage during the show.  Six months after the awards, he almost died from a sub-arachnoid brain hemorrhage and it looks like that wasn’t just a coincidence.

He has filed a lawsuit against Tony Award Productions, CBS and others.  He says that it’s their fault for not instructing him on how to safely exit the stage.  Had they done their job, he never would have had to face that life and death situation.

Part of the suit reads,

“One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma — exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards.”  Bret says producers have “failed and refused” to remedy the situation … and even blamed him for the mishap at the Tony Awards, claiming he “missed his mark.”

So far, no one from the Tonys has responded with a comment.  Is that a guilty silence?

Thank goodness Bret Michaels is doing good post surgery!  I knew he’d be okay, but, it’s always nice to be on the other side of the procedure.

“Bret is in good spirits and [his fiancée] Kristi has been by his side,” his rep tells Life & Style exclusively.

Bret talked about the procedure before he went in,

“Physically, I’ve been through more blood tests than I care to mention,” he said. “Mentally, I’ve talked to my daughters about it. I said I have to go through this operation, but everything is going to be great.  It’s going to be a positive operation.  It’s actually going to make me feel better.”

It’s true!  Bret needs his heart in good condition.  He’s still young and has a ton of life left in him.  Finish getting better Bret!  Stay strong!  We loooovvveee you!

Yesterday the super sexy Bret Michaels got his heart surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix.  The fantastic team of surgeons repaired the hole in his heart.

It’s Official: Bret Michaels Is Engaged

The spokesperson at the hospital gave a statement to the AP, saying that  the surgeons planned to insert a catheter into a vein in Bret’s groin and guide wires and a closure device into the heart. The device will remain in his heart permanently to stop abnormal blood flow in the heart.  How crazy is that?

Bret told a local paper before the surgery,

“Barring any complications, I should be out within three to four days.  Then, I will be down [recovering] for three weeks. I don’t know if I can sit around for that long, but I’ll try my best.”

He better behave himself!  We need his cute butt better and he’s got a wedding to attend soon!  Get well Bret!  We love you!

FINALLY! After many years of being together, Bret Michaels finally proposed to Kristi Gibson. They have two daughters Raine Elizabeth, born May 2000 and Jorja Bleu, born 5 May 2005.  Clearly they like making babies in August.

He had said that his reality show ‘Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It,’ will end on a ‘real’ note. The teaser made it look like he could be proposing to Kristi and prior to the airing of the show said:

“I promise you, there will be no big, fake, phony ending,” “It may not be the ending people want to see, but it will be a very real ending,”

Bret has always been very gun-shy about the commitment of marriage, not wanting to fix what isn’t broke so to speak. But it’s official because his verified Twitter page says:

Congratulations to Bret and Kristi on the announcement of their engagement!

He either speaks of himself in the third person or he has ‘people’ that write his tweets. Congratulations to this couple!
