Celebrity Sightings: New York Fashion Week (PHOTOS)

Celebrity Sightings: New York Fashion Week (PHOTOS)

With all the hysteria in Toronto for TIFF I almost forgot there is also another very special event going on on the East coast and it’s New York’s Fashion Week!

New York is a who’s who of starlets attending fashion shows (and probably getting lots of free swag) and getting all glammed up. Lucky for me Walmart doesn’t partake in Fashion Week or I would be totally screwed.

Husband and wife Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes attended and she wore a very appropriate outfit to cover up the fact she needs a burger, stat.

Other stars in attendance: Rachel ZoeJulianne Hough (who is a gorgeous lady in red), Kelly Osbourne, Whitney Port, Samantha Ronson, Mandy Moore and Rose McGowan.

Gerard Butler at Creative Coalition’s 2011 Spotlight Initiative Awards (PHOTOS)

Gerard Butler at Creative Coalition's 2011 Spotlight Initiative Awards (PHOTOS)

Gerard Butler is in Toronto and seems to be everywhere. It’s making stalking extremely difficult but never impossible. He, along with Rhys Ilfan, Juliette Lewis, Anna Kendrick and the biotch whose tummy he’s touching Michelle Monaghan are all at The Creative Coalition’s 2011 Spotlight Initiative Awards at the 26th Annual Toronto International Film Festival at The Roosevelt Room. This all went down last night while I was peeing myself for being so close to George Clooney. These two should just get a room and get it over with.

Tonight Gerard premieres Machine Gun Preacher at Roy Thomson Hall. I’ll be there, but like Killer Elite I’ll be the biotch in the balcony angry-like because I can’t get closer to him. Unless of course I hang outside beforehand to catch him on the red carpet which means I risk losing my seat and missing the movie altogether. Decisions, decisions.

Enjoy the pictures. Gerard is looking mighty fine these days.

Killer Elite: Jason Statham, Robert De Niro, Clive Owen at TIFF (I Was There!) PHOTOS

Killer Elite: Jason Statham, Robert De Niro, Clive Owen at TIFF (I Was There!) PHOTOS

Jason Statham, Robert De Niro, Clive Owen at TIFF (I Was There!) PHOTOS

As I am typing this it is 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011. I am SO freaking tired but I want to get these out there because some very wonderful friends, and viewers have been so excited for me to have this experience I feel like they were with me.  I want to thank them for making the experience extra-special to share with them. Mostly I have to thank my husband who would have stepped on heads to get shots for me if that’s what he needed to do.

Killer Elite with Jason Statham, Robert De Niro, Clive Owen and Yvonne Strahovski was the first movie we saw for the 2011 TIFF. It was held at the Roy Thomson Hall and believe it or not, I’ve never been there (despite living in Toronto my entire life).

Because my email said pick up the tickets at the venue I went right there only to be told it’s in another building! They sent me far, when all I had to do was go down the stairs behind the f*ckernuts who sent me on a wild goose chase. It was so chaotic you have no idea. No one knew where to go and where they were going. Then the tickets were assigned to a section which was new to me with TIFF as I’ve always thought it’s wherever you can park it fastest.

We were in a balcony. Pretty much at the back of the venue. This is Jason Statham we are talking about. A man who’s almost-bald head I want to use as a loofah. I didn’t need to get close enough to touch him, but perhaps close enough to smell him.

So by this time I’m thinking f*ck you TIFF. I’m not happy. Until the jumbotron on the stage (which was showing the red carpet) showed the stars outside greeting fans. That was very cool. You’ll see some of those pics here.

Then the stars came out including the director, Gary McKendry who was talking but I was just staring at Jason Statham and mentally undressing him with my angry eyes.

I thought for sure that Jason Statham, Robert DeNiro, Clive Owen, Yvonne Strahovski would go to the podium and speak but they didn’t. Just the director. No offence Gary McKendry but at this point I was hoping you would trip backstage.

Then the movie came on. I had to pee at the very beginning. It seemed to go on FOREVER. I liked it but at times it was very difficult to understand what people were saying with the accents. I heard from others that they felt the same way. Robert De Niro was very funny in the movie.

Jason Statham’s girlfriend in the movie, played by Yvonne Strahovski was named Anne. With an ‘e’ at the end. You have no idea the feelings I got in my loins when I heard Jason Statham say the name Anne. With an ‘e’.  And it wasn’t preceded by ‘that crazy stalker-bitch’ either. It was in a loving way. I felt that was a sign from Mr. Statham and that perhaps all prior restraining orders would be forgiven.Hehe.

The pictures aren’t the best, but I was in the same room as Jason Statham and that is probably the closest I will ever get to him in this lifetime where I am not whisked away to jail or slapped with another restraining order.

If you want to read an intelligent post about this movie, my esteemed writer, Sheri has covered many posts. If you search “killer elite” on our site they’ll all pop up. It’s based on a true story and that is pretty harrowing.

Okay seriously now. In the main photo at the top of this post, doesn’t it look like Robert De Niro is looking right into our camera saying ‘you looking at me?’. I’m almost afraid to post this! Please don’t hurt me Mr. De Niro.

Artists for Peace and Justice Make the Scene in Toronto! PHOTOS

Artists for Peace and Justice Make the Scene in Toronto! PHOTOS

Artists for Peace and Justice is a fundraising organization founded in 2009 by director Paul Haggis (CrashMillion Dollar BabyThe Next Three Days) to encourage peace and social justice by addressing issues of poverty, independence and autonomy around the world. Their immediate goal has been to build schools serving the poorest areas of Haiti and those hardest hit by the earthquake, and providing not only an education but hot meals, potable water and regular medical care to the children living in those areas. To that end, they’ve already established the Academy for Peace and Justice, the first free secondary school in Port-au-Prince. This year, the Academy marked the end of their first year with a graduation ceremony for its 7th grade students.

Since the word “artists” is right there in the title, it should come as no surprise that a lot of APJ’s board members are in the entertainment industry. They know something about a good party and APJ throws some of the best. Their event at Cannes, held for the third year in a row during the annual film festival, already rivals the big AMFAR event held every year for glitz and glamour.  For the second year, they’ve added a big blow-out in Toronto during its film festival. Last year, APJ has raised over $300,000 at TIFF.

Last night, Haggis along with APJ Board of Directors member Gerard Butler (also in town to promote Machine Gun Preacher and Coriolanus - had to get that in there) and popular CBC television personality George Stroumboulopoulos (great video found here)  hosted the event at Toronto’s AME restaurant/night club. Also in attendance was APJ Board of Directors member David Belle. All proceeds from the $150 (Canadian) entrance fee will go to APJ’s health, education and dignity initiatives.

There’s another big “do” today so maybe we’ll get pics of that as well!

PHOTOS: Kiefer Sutherland, Gerard Butler, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie In Toronto for TIFF

PHOTOS: Kiefer Sutherland, Gerard Butler, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie In Toronto for TIFF

Toronto is buzzing with celebrities for the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the most important ones (in my horny estimation) are Kiefer Sutherland and Gerard Butler. Of course people are going crazy because Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are also here (although they do nothing for my loins).

Brad and Angelina were here for Brad’s film Moneyball, a film about baseball and it’s getting a lot of positive buzz at TIFF.

Gerard Butler is doing double duty at TIFF this year premiering two films: Machine Gun Preacher and Corolianus. The pictures of him exiting his limo are hysterical. I would love to see what’s on the other side of the camera greeting him.

Kiefer Sutherland is here for his movie Melancholia but I’m personally hoping to get a whiff of him as I hear from several very reliable sources that he smells mighty fine.

I’ll be at Machine Gun Preacher this weekend and down in the heart of the buzz today. Check back here for (hopefully) lots of great pictures.

Contagion Spreads in New York!

Contagion Spreads in New York!

Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion had a red carpet premiere last night at the Rose Theater in Lincoln Center in New York City. Matt Damon brought his shiny head and his beautiful wife Lucianna. Along with the director and the screenwriter (Scott Z. Burns), cast members, Sanaa Lathan, Elliott Gould, Jennifer Ehle, Daria Strokous, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Brian O’Donnell, Griffin Kane and Chin Han attended as well. Goopie…I mean Gwyneth Paltrow was in London getting free leather at a  coach event. Not sure where Kate Winslet was, since she lives in New York. Jude Law is also in London, doing a play. The winner of the glamour award for the night was, in my opinion, Marion Cotillard. Loved the wrap-around braids that perfectly matched the Grecian-inspired dress.

Other guests included Matthew Settle, Michael Douglas (sans Catherine Zeta Jones), Olivia Munn (who will attend the opening of an envelope) and inexplicably, figure skater and reality tv wack-job, Johnny Weir.

Contagion opens this Friday September 9! Enjoy the pics!

Venice is Full of Shame!

venice film festival shame

Okay so that wasn’t the best pun I’ve ever come up with. Sue me. The point is that director Steve McQueen brought another Michael Fassbender movie, Shame, to the red carpet on the Lido in Venice, which naturally meant that Fassy himself suited up for the event and brought his megawatt smile with him.

Shame is only Steve McQueen’s second movie, the first being 2008′s Hunger, which also starred Fassbender. (For his third, Twelve Years A Slave, he’s going with Chiwitel Ejiofor and I’m perfectly okay with that!) Shame is the story of Brandon (Fassbender), a 30-something disillusioned, damaged, New Yorker and his myriad sexual escapades, and what happens when his wayward younger sister (Carey Mulligan) moves in with him. It had its world premiere in Venice and is getting great reviews for both the film and especially Fassbender’s performance. It’s getting a lot mention as the stand out film of the fest and a strong contender for the grand prize, the Golden Lion. Almost simultaneously, the film played the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado (as did Fassbender’s other project, A Dangerous Method). There are actually three high-profile film festivals going on right now: Venice, Deauville (in France) and Telluride. The season is in full swing! Can’t wait for all the news and pics that will be coming out of Toronto soon!

In the meantime, enjoy the pics from the Shame premiere and the photo call earlier in the day. It doesn’t look like Carey Mulligan made it but along with Fassbender and McQueen is screenwriter Abi Morgan and producers Iain Canning and Emile Sherman.

Victoria Beckham Takes Harper Seven and Boys to The Grove (PHOTOS)

Victoria Beckham Takes Harper Seven and Boys to The Grove (PHOTOS)

Victoria Beckham looks amazing as she hits The Grove with her kids and passes baby daughter (born July 10) Harper Seven to big brother Romeo.

Brothers Brooklyn and Cruz are also with them at The Grove. They are the boys in red pants. I thought the older one was Justin Beiber at first because lately I’ve seen Justin rocking red pants.

It’s hard to believe Harper Seven is already two months old. What isn’t hard to believe is that Victoria Beckham does not look like someone who just gave birth two months ago. She looks incredible doesn’t she?
