Today’s Prometheus News incl. New Michael Fassbender Image!

Today's Prometheus News incl. New Michael Fassbender Image!

In today’s Prometheus news (doesn’t it seem like it’s been a few days?) we have a new featurette that focuses on Weyland Industries representative Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron). Vickers is not exactly the Paul Reiser of the group, she’s much more insidious, in my opinion and just going by what I’ve been able to glean so far. Listening to Theron talk about the character, I suspect she’s being kind.

Vickers strikes me as being a lot less warm and cuddly and much more cold-blooded than Michael Fassbender’s android, David, and he’s bloodless! Actually, there is speculation that Vickers is also an android. Damon Lindelof, one of the screenwriters, has hinted as much during a recent Twitter Q & A.

My favorite question and Lindelof’s answer:

@AnothaJmoore Hey Damon, are the Aliens mean in #Prometheus or are they like into just hanging out, having a beer with Fassbender?

Prometheus ‏@PrometheusMovie

.@AnothaJmoore BE WARNED: Having a beer with Fassbender can be every bit as dangerous as getting acid blood sprayed in your face.

Speaking of Michael Fassbender and David, we also have a new image. That’s David at the top of the post inside the star map that appears to play a huge part in the plot.

And finally, we have a clip of the Paris Metro passing through the Prometheus Ghost Station. Fox has turned an old station on the Metro into an ad for the film. It’s recorded here with the soundtrack of the trailer underneath it.

Prometheus opens 1st June in the UK and June 8 in the US, in 2D and 3D. (It was shot in 3D and that’s “how Ridley wants you to see it” according to Lindelof. I have no doubt that’s true.)

Four Prometheus Promotions: Possible Spoilers Ahead

Four Prometheus Promotions: Possible Spoilers Ahead

In today’s Prometheus news, we have a completely ridiculous promotional tool as well as a brilliant onem a poster that looks to contain a spoiler and not nearly enough Michael Fassbender and some new images from Sir Ridley Scott's in-depth interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Let’s start with the poster. It comes from Malaysia even though it’s in English. It looks more like a traditional movie one-sheet than anything we’ve seen thus far for Prometheus, but it also seems to stick a big spoiler right in the center of it, (For that reason, I’ve left it to the bottom of the post. Don’t view if you don’t want to know.) and Michael Fassbender’s David is nowhere in sight.

Four Prometheus Promotions: Possible Spoilers Ahead

Speaking of Fassbender, in a classic case of “what’s wrong with this picture?” I have to ask,WTF is going on with this promo? Fassbender and Sir Ridley Scott are apparently schilling for beer. Movie tie-ins are usually ridiculous (Chocolate Iced Coffee for Men in Black III? Berry-flavored Mountain Dew for The Dark Knight Rises? Those are just two examples from this year alone.), but perhaps because it’s for a movie from a director I respect and an actor I revere, that this seems especially repugnant. Oh well, those special effects and that massive set cost money (Over $120million). Fox has to pay the bills. (As if the movie isn’t going to make more than the combined GNP of most of Africa.)

To get the taste of that out of our mouths, we have yet another viral video from the vaults of the Weyland Corporation. It appears to be Elizabeth Shaw’s (Noomi Rapace) personal plea to be included in any exploration of the alien pictographs that she’s discovered. It’s called “The Quiet Eye” and it’s meant to appear to look as if it leaked from her personnel files. It debuted on the Verizon FiOS Facebook. If you’ve been following the marketing campaign for Prometheus, you’re going to want to watch this.

Finally, check the images from that THR interview in which Sir Ridley confirms that Prometheus "pays heavy tribute to author Erich von Daniken’s ideas in his 1968 book 'Chariots of the Gods?' — which argued that we are not alone and another sentient entity might have spawned us."

Prometheus is one week away for those in the UK and two weeks for us in the US and Canada. The original screenplay was originally written by Jon Spaihts (The Darkest Hour) and Damon Lindelof ("Lost", Cowboys & Aliens, Star Trek 2).

Charlize Theron is a Trash Talking Diva!

New Pic Post: Snow White and the Huntsman, Men in Black III, Prometheus, The Avengers & Riddick

Charlize Theron along with costars Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart sat down for one of Moviefone’s Unscripted Interview segments in promotion of their new film Snow White and the Huntsman (perhaps you’ve heard of it?) The questions themselves are not very interesting but we do learn a bit about these three from their answers and their banter.

Kristen Stewart is obviously very shy (either that or she’s on crack). While she does seem to have a good relationship with  her costars, she doesn’t like addressing the camera when talking about herself.  Hemsworth seemed both the most natural and had the least to say. Theron was clearly the “leader” of this group, which makes sense given that Oscar and her experience.

Someone needs to get Charlize Theron a comedy. She’s got a great sense of humor that the serious nature of most of her roles does not allow to come through. She’s also not afraid to poke fun at herself as the “diva” moment in the first video shows. She also drops more F-bombs in the main interview than Gerard Butler ever thought about. (If Abigail Breslin had gotten a hold of her on the set of Nim’s Island, she’d have gotten Theron’s whole paycheck.*)

Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman also stars Sam Claflin, Lily Cole, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones, Nick Frost, Eddie Marsan and Bob Hoskins. It opens everywhere on June 1.

*during the filming of 2008’s Nim’s Island, then 12 year old Abigail Breslin made her costar pay a penalty into a “swear jar” every time Gerard Butler let fly with an expletive. She made quite a bit of money for a local Australian animal charity.

More Snow White and the Huntsman Goodies!

More Snow White and the Huntsman Goodies!

Hot off of last night’s World Premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman, Universal has not only dropped a big bunch of new images, but also some new clips and videos for your perusal and enjoyment!

“The Huntsman Gets into a Bar Fight”:

This one is called “William Joins Finn and his Riders”. Of course, we don’t really know who Finn is. (He does appear to be one of the Queen’s men.) But this does give us a look at Prince William. He has been entirely too absent in all of the stuff we’ve been given thus far. Makes me wonder just how important a role the Prince plays in this story.

So, let’s hear from Sam Claflin and his thoughts on William:

We’ll be back with more. We’ll hear from the “dwarves” next!  Snow White and the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth opens June 1!

Stewart, Hemsworth and Theron Premiere Snow White and the Huntsman in London!

Stewart, Hemsworth and Theron Premiere Snow White and the Huntsman in London!

This evening Monday May 14, in London,  Leicester Square was transformed into “the magical world of Snow White” for the world premiere of Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman.

Charlize Theron was in Christian Dior Couture. (Fitting since she's the face of their brand), and Kristen Stewart was in the ugliest Marchesa I have ever seen. For one thing, you know a dress is bad when it makes the ass of a 21 year old stick bug look enormous, for another, it made her look as flat chested as an adolescent boy, for another it was just all-out hideous.  I wasn’t crazy about Charlize’s dress at first, but it grew on me. Plus her makeup was flawless and she worked that dress. She was fierce.

As for Papa Hemsworth, he looked very happy (and very gorgeous) even though I’m sure he was exhausted. I love the pic of Charlize giving him what looks like a genuinely warm embrace. They’ve both become first-time parents since they made the movie together.

The best pics are of Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron obviously baiting each other in character while Chris Hemsworth looks on. They’re almost using him as a prop.

We have some pics of the “dwarves” who made the scene including Nick Frost, Eddie Marsan and two of my favorite geezers, Ray Winstone and Ian McShane.

Also in attendance were LIberty Ross, who plays Snow's mother, Queen Eleanor and Lily Cole, who plays Rose.

Enjoy the pics! Snow White and the Huntsman opens on Friday June 1 everywhere. I’m sure we’ll have a lot more before then!

Sir Ridley Scott is Just Trying to Scare the Sh*t Out of You!

New Prometheus TV Spot: It's the Summer of Tough as Nails Charlize Theron

In today’s Prometheus news (you knew we’d have some, didn’t you?) we have an extended version of the “Origins” featurette. Big deal you say? Well, actually it is. Watch this if you want a few more answers to your burning questions about the plot as well as Sir Ridley’s theories of the origins of man. I’m not sure why we got the abbreviated version, but the Kiwis got the good one. This version has a lot more new footage and even the soundbites with the cast are extenuated.

As a special treat, I have to share this blog from the San Diego Reader and the blogger’s thoughts on the psycho-sexual nature of the Alien franchise.

Prometheus starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Logan Marshall-Green, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall, Kate Dickie and Patrick Wilson opens 1st June in the UK and June 8 in the US. More soon!
