Loki Has an Army But The Avengers Have a Hulk

Loki Has an Army But The Avengers Have a Hulk

A fun little international tv spot for The Avengers has hit the web. The spot is short, but it does the job. The best things about it, Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark delivering the patented “Stark Snark” and probably twice the Tom Hiddleston as Loki  than we’ve gotten thus far.

It’s less than four weeks until the UK release and just five until we get it here in the US so as many goodies as we’ve received in the past month, expect the flow to only increase from here on out! Can you tell that I’m excited about this one?

“Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”–the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, CaptainAmerica, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble in summer 2012. In “Marvel’s The Avengers,” superheroes team up to pull the world back from the brink of disaster when an unexpected enemy threatens global security.”

The Avengers open in 2D, 3D and super stupendous IMAX 3D on 26th April in the UK (as Avengers Assemble) and May 4 in the US. (Oh and just to say thanks for reading, there are two new pics of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow at the bottom of the post)

More to Marvel at From the Marvel Universe!

More to Marvel at From the Marvel Universe!

There’s a  terrific new behind-the-scenes featurette  for writer/director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers that outlines the history of Marvel and this current run of movies and includes interviews with Whedon, Kevin Feige (Marvel Studios’ President of Production), Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Hemsworth. This new featurette, sponsored by Norton, does a great job of introducing newcomers to the films that precede The Avengers, as well as giving fans new insight.

To go along with it, there are some fantastic new behind the scenes stills that feature Whedon, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson RDJ, and Hemsworth.

The Avengers will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 26th April in the UK (As Avengers Assemble), before heading to the US a week later to be released on May 4. There’s still more than a month to go, we haven’t heard the last from Marvel on this subject.

Marvel Gives Us Still More Gorgeous Stills from The Avengers!

Marvel Gives Us Still More Gorgeous Stills from The Avengers!

Adding to an already rich trove of goodies we’ve received for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers,  such as TV spots, trailers, posters and images, we have ten more fabulous hi-res stills to add to the pile.

I’m not usually the “super-hero” type, but I saw Thor last year because Kenneth Branaugh was directing it, and really liked it. I saw Captain America: The First Avenger as well, largely based on the pre-release hype as well as the cast and again, I was pleasantly surprised. Building on those two films is a director who is an admitted fanboy, directing from his own script that looks to have done as good a job of bringing all the characters together as we could have hoped for. If The Avengers lives up to its hype, it will be pretty special indeed and I am seriously looking forward to it.

The official synopsis:

“Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”–the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, CaptainAmerica, Hawkeye and Black Widow. The Avengers will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on26th April in the UK and May 4th in the US and Canada. Of course, this year, success will be measured in The Hunger Gams numbers. I wonder how The Avengers will stack up?

LOADS of New Footage for Snow White and the Huntsman!

Three New Looks at Snow White and the Huntsman!

With Mirror Mirror opening so much earlier, Universal wants to be sure you remember that there is another Snow White project coming down the pike. Comcast/XFinity have teamed up with the studio to bring us new looks at Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman including a behind-the-scenes featurette (via ComingSoon) and a really special five minute sneak peek at the film.  Universal has also dropped a BRAND NEW TRAILER. As much footage as there is in the five minute clip, there is actually some new footage in the new trailer as well, not to mention our best looks yet at the “dwarves” played by Bob Hoskins, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone and Eddie Marsan among others.

The five minute sneak peek:

Brand new trailer:

Am I seriously the only person questioning the fact that Kristen Stewart, as much as I want to see this movie, is supposed to be more beautiful than Charlize Theron. I know, I know, it’s about inner beauty yada yada yada, but c’mon…

In the epic action-adventure opening June 1st, Kristen Stewart plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) plays the prince long enchanted by Snow White's beauty and power.

Written by Hossein Amini, Evan Dougherty and John Lee Hancock, Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 1 everywhere.

A New Batch of Images from The Avengers!

A New Batch of Images from The Avengers!

Well, I can’t say these are particularly exciting, but we do have some new images from Joss Whedon’s The Avengers to share. I’m not sure whether or not the fact that this movie really needs no big marketing campaign to get butts into seats, given that not only does it stem from the Marvel comic world, but is also the latest installment in three comic based movie franchises (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America) or the gurus they’ve hired or just that dim, but there hasn’t been a lot to get excited about beyond the odd trailer.

In this batch we do have a couple of new shots of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) but for the most part it’s either more of the same or it’s empty set shots. At least we can sort of get a feel for the world The Avengers will inhabit. I have a feeling when they aren’t out trying to stop an evil-doer in a rubble strewn cityscape, they’ll be in this bunker complex. (So, in theory, the bunker is their "bat-cave", so why does it seem so boring?)

The Avengers starring Robert Downey, Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Ruffalo and Renner opens 26th April in the UK (as Avengers Assemble) and  May 4  in the US and Canada.

Very Cool New Japanese Trailer and Poster for The Avengers!

Very Cool New Japanese Trailer and Poster for The Avengers!

The Japanese have been gifted with this terrific new trailer (and poster) for The Avengers!  Aside from the narration, they even get the original voices. YAY! Each successive trailer seems to build on the one that came before it, so there is stuff you’ve seen in this, but it also has new bits of footage, including more Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and first live-action Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill.

Directed by Joss Whedo, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson.

“What are you prepared to do?” Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury asks that of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and my mind went straight to Sean Connery in The Untouchables. (Apropos of nothing, that’s just the way my mind works.)

The Avengers hits 26th April in the UK and May 4 in the US. I can’t wait!

Thor Needs to Look Out for Black Widow – Just Sayin’

Thor Needs to Look Out for Black Widow - Just Sayin'

Didn’t I just say the other day when I posted the four fantastic new character posters for The Avengers that we needed Thor (Chris Hemsworth)? Well, ask and ye shall receive. (Sometimes.)

Here’s Thor’s poster with Black Widow in her skintight leathers hovering in the background looking all Scarlett Johansson-like.  We also have a poster for Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson – and only fitting since he instigates the plot) which includes a first look at S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother)

Nick Fury is director of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency. The agency is a who's who of Marvel Super Heroes, with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When global security is threatened by Loki and his cohorts, Nick Fury and his team will need all their powers to save the world from disaster.

The Avengers assemble for good and all on May 4 in the US, but before that, Avengers Assemble in the UK on 27th April.

Go Behind the Scenes of Epic Adventure Snow White and the Huntsman!

Four Fantastic Character Posters for Snow White and the Huntsman!

Well, if it weren’t apparent before, this behind the scenes look at Snow White and the Huntsman should drive home the idea that Rupert Sanders’ film could not be any more different from Tarsem Singh’s Mirror Mirror if it tried.  They are literally like night and day and since I am magnetically drawn to the dark side, it’s no surprise I’m looking forward to this one much more than the other (despite the fact that I’ve come around to the potential for light-hearted fun that MM holds.)

Take a look at this video. Charlize Theron, who plays the evil Queen Ravina, nails it. It’s going to be “epic”.

If that weren’t enough, we have another trailer for a trailer. (I might not have bothered with this one, but it is introduced by Chris Hemsworth, using his native Aussie accent. I was powerless against it.)  A new trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman is set to premiere Monday March 19 during NBC’s The Voice. Here’s the  teaser:

The film itself opens June 1 everywhere.
