First Trailer for Horror Flick Playback with Christian Slater
Really Christian Slater? Is this what you’ve been reduced to? Doesn’t your dignity require more than this? Wouldn’t being a greeter at K-Mart offer you more job satisfaction and pride of accomplishment than this? Are once successful movie actors compelled to keep making movies despite the steady decline in the quality of those movies on some sort of cellular level? Is this too many questions?
They are, of course, all rhetorical, but seriously, Slater should have quit at the Kuffs stage. He needs a decent tv show to get him back on track. (The key word being decent.) Just viewing the trailer makes me sad. I need to go watch Heathers.
Anyway, Playback looks like a muddled mash of a bunch of other horror movies. The opening has shades of Amityville Horror, Halloween, and The Ring. Beyond that, I’m not sure what’s happening.
Synopsis: When a group of high school students dig into their town's infamous past they unwittingly unlock an Evil that corrupts and destroys them. Possessing its victims through video playback and using them for malevolent purposes, it closes in on one specific soul, threatening to expose the town's deepest, darkest secret.
In addition to Slater, Playback stars Ambyr Childers, Toby Hemingway and Alessandra Torresani. It will be available On Demand in February before getting a limited theatrical release in March.
