Robert Pattinson’s ‘Water For Elephants’ Movie Trailer

What a departure Robert Pattinson’s film Water For Elephants is from his Twilight franchise! I didn’t think he could look cuter or have more sex appeal but my goodness he looks exquisite in this film. He’s one of these guys that is going to get better and better looking as he ages. Hot. Damn. Yes I know the above picture has nothing to do with this film, but he looks so smoking hot!

The film also stars Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz (heavy hitting cast, huh?) and is set for release April 15, 2011. He is currently filming Twilight Saga:  Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2. I sincerely hope he finishes in time to do the promotional tour for this movie.  It looks like a great movie! He plays the main character Jacob Jankowski:

A veterinary student abandons his studies after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet.

Tell me what you think of the trailer.

2010 Oscars – The Winners

Kathryn Bigelow made Oscar history by being the first woman to win a Best Director Award.  I was thrilled for this win but also kind of thought ‘hey it’s 2010’.  Mind you I don’t know that there are a lot of women directors out there.  I thought it was interesting that Barbra Streisand presented the award considering she was snubbed years ago in the director category.  I loved when upon announcing the winner Barbara said ‘It’s about time’ (or something to that effect).

I don’t think there were any major surprises because all of the winners were already heavily predicted to win.

Although the buzz was that Kathryn Bigelow would win for Best Director I was a bit surprised The Hurt Locker won for best picture.  Not because I didn’t think it would or should, but because the buzz seemed to be surrounding Avatar.

Of all the Oscar speeches I have to say Jeff Bridges, Mo’Nique and Sandra Bullock’s were the most moving.  Even Sandra’s husband Jesse James was moved to tears.

Lots of other random people were in the press room with the winners.  There are a few pictures of Gerard Butler who seemed to really be enjoying being back there.  There is one of him and Bradley Cooper sandwiched in amongst some winners.

Also in the press room:

  • Ali Sheedy
  • Molly Ringwald
  • Robin Williams
  • Judd Nelson
  • Macaulay Culkin
  • Anna Kendrick
  • Rachel McAdams
  • Jake Gyllenhaal
  • Tom Ford
  • Zac Efron

2010 BAFTAs [PHOTOS & Winner's List]

full_bafta_pressroom_06_wenn2748937

One of my favourite actresses Kate Winslet poses with Colin Firth (who I must say is growing on me in recent days) and it looks to be a mutual admiration society of these two.  Colin Firth won for Leading Actor in A Single Man.

Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker cleaned up at the BAFTAs with six wins including Best Picture and Director beating out ex-husband James Cameron for Avatar (which btw I saw it this weekend for the first time and it is as great as everyone says it is). Cameron has been very vocal about his support for his ex-wife which is fabulous. This, of course only adds to the Oscar buzz considering she has won a Producers Guild Award, Critics Choice Award, Writers Guild Award and a Director’s Guild Award in various categories for The Hurt Locker.

Also attending the BAFTAs:

  • Robert Pattinson
  • James Cameron
  • Vanessa Redgrave
  • Kristen Stewart
  • Claire Danes
  • Carey Mulligan
  • Joanathan Rhys Meyers
  • Anna Kendrick
  • Saoirse Ronan
  • Matt Dillon
  • Gabourey Sidibe
  • Tom Ford
  • Quentin Tarantino
  • Audrey Tautou
  • Kristin Scott Thomas
  • Mickey Rourke
  • Christoph Waltz
  • Vera Farmiga

Colin Firth @ British Film Critics Awards

full_critics_choice_film_awards_inside_28_wenn2746153

I never realized how cute Colin’s Firth face was until I looked at these pictures. Although I loved his character in Bridget Jones’ Diary he really ages quite nicely, doesn’t he?  For all I know he could be a raging a**hole but something tells me he probably isn’t.

Colin is seen here at the London Film Critics’ Awards where he won Best British Actor for A Single Man.

Christoph Waltz won for Best International Actor for Inglorious Basterds and if you look closely at one of the pictures of him at dinner, he is either praying, or he fell asleep at the table.

Quentin Tarantino received the Dilys Powell Award For Excellence In Cinema and Carey Mulligan won Best British Actress for An Education.

Sandra Bullock & Others React To Their Oscar Nominations

Sandra Bullock told People magazine that she wasn’t even sure she left her phone on the night before, but did and the call barely woke her husband up.  That’s just how down-to-earth and unassuming this fabulous woman is.  She says of husband Jesse James:

“He literally rolled over in the dark and he said, ‘Congratulations’

He then pointed out she will forever have an ‘Oscar’ related prefix attached to her name.  She told the Associated Press of being up against Meryl Streep:

“With Meryl, when this whole thing started, I left her a voicemail going, ‘You’ve got to watch your back. I’m gonna cut you. I’m gonna take you down.’ “And then she sent me dead orchids and told me to die, so I sent her a case of liquor and told her to toast to white trash.”

“No one, at least the people that I’ve met, no one cares about the end result or the statue. It’s being able to sit in close proximity with these ladies… and we have to go through this whole rigamarole and we just all look at each other and we get to know each other and you laugh at the absurdity of it all and how they pit women up against each other.”

Both she and Mo’Nique spoke on the phone to Meredith Veira and Matt Lauer of The Today Show about their reaction when they learned of their Oscar Nominations yesterday.

Here are some quotes of other celebrity reactions:

“I am so excited and honored to be recognized by the Academy and included in such a remarkable group of actors. I’m very proud of my film, my cast and extremely grateful to Mr. Daniels for the incredible opportunity to play Precious”

…..Gabourey Sidibe for her Lead Actress nomination

“Wow! This honor gives me such tremendous satisfaction”

…..Quentin Tarantino on his Director nomination

“It was the ultimate wake-up call “Like a baby who wakes up every three hours.” ”The Oscars – in my mind it’s something that has been televised and read about and reported on … but what that night really means when you’re there, I have absolutely no idea,” he said. “I’m looking forward to [it]. I feel true amazement”

Kathryn Bigelow’s ‘The Hurt Locker’ Wins PGA Award

full_annual_pga_awards_19_wenn2721857

Kathryn Bigelow beat out ex-husband James Cameron at the Producers Guild Awards last night by winning best film for her movie The Hurt Locker.  Word is, she’s expected to win at next week’s Directors Guld Awards and some are saying last night’s win puts her to the front of the line insofar as Oscar buzz is concerned.

In television, producer of the year for comedy went to 30 Rock (of course) with Mad Men getting the win for drama.

full_screen_actors_press_room_10_wenn2720441

The legend that is Betty White received the Lifetime Achievement Award last night at the 16th Annual SAG Awards and rightfully so.  To say this woman has been a trailblazer would be an understatement.  At the young age of 88 she still continues to have a strong career in Hollywood and yet still finds time to champion the cause of animal rights.  I love this woman!!!  Her acceptance speech starts at the 5:35 mark on the video below.
