Last week we finally got a trailer to go along with the hi-res images that we got the week before that.It’s still just a little less than three months away, but the publicity machine has obviously been revved up for yet another Fall release. This, it should be obvious by now, is another film I am eagerly (read: doing the ‘demented poodle dance’) awaiting.

I’m still completely digging Clive Owen’s villainous ‘tache, and of course there’s the stubble on The ‘Stath’, always completely lickable, and I cannot wait to see how many ways Mr. Statham can kick total butt. My conundrum is going to be which one of these manly men to root for in this ‘testosterone fest’. Let the punching, kicking, stabbing, , grappling, Greco-Roman wrestling* begin!

Killer Elite starts kicking ass and taking names on September 23.

*Okay, that one’s probably only in my head.

We finally have a trailer for the Jason Statham/Clive Owen action fest, Killer Elite, to go along with the hi-res images that surfaced last week.

I’m not sure how much of the plot is revealed in this HD clip, which is not a bad thing if you ask me, but there are definitely a few things we can be sure of:

1. Clive Owen’s mustache is absolutely diabolical. Love it!
2. There will definitely be some Statham being Statham, including time out to sex up Yvonne Strahovski (“Chuck”)
3. Many many cars will crash
4. Statham and Owen will spend a great deal of the movie punching, kicking, stabbing, wrestling each other and other people, but mostly each other. *swoon*

Statham is a British Special Forces soldier forced out of retirement when his mentor (Robert De Niro) is kidnapped. To save him, he’ll have to face off against three assassins, led by “cunning leader” Clive Owen and his sinister ‘tache.

A remake of the James Caan/Robert Duvall film, The Killer Elite from 1975, Killer Elite storms its way into theaters 23 September 2011.

Deadline has reported that The Killer Elite, an independently-produced action adventure excuse to stick Jason Statham and Clive Owen in one movie, has set a September 23, 2011 release date. The film is the first to be distributed by Open Road Films, a new label created by AMC and Regal Entertainment.

Really this is just an excuse to post pics of The Stath…it’s been a few days…

The film revolves around a retired SAS  (Britain’s Elite Special Air Service) officer (Jason Statham) is forced out of retirement when old comrades start being murdered. Robert DeNiro plays Statham’s mentor.

Admit it, don’t these guys look like they could be special ops secret agent type guys? Clive’s character has been referred to as a “cunning leader”…*thud* BEST. DOUBLE. ENTENDRE. EVER!

It’s only the second day, but the Cannes film market is already busier than a Wal-Mart on Black Friday. The Killer Elite, an action adventure thriller starring two of the three manliest men working in showbiz today, Jason Statham and Clive Owen, will be released Fall of 2011 by Open Road, the new distribution company launched by theater chains AMC and Regal.

The Stath plays Danny, a living-in-exile, uber-skilled special-ops agent. He’s called upon to put his old team back together to penetrate (yeah I said it) a covert unit of the British Special Air Service (SAS) known as “The Feather Men,” led by Clive Owen’s Spike.  The plot involves a search and rescue mission to recover Danny’s old mentor, played by Robert DeNiro

The script is based on “The Feather Men”, a non-fiction story by Sir Ranulph Fiennes (second cousin to Ralph and Joseph.)

In other Cannes- related news, the Film District has purchased US distribution rights to Playing the Field, staring the third of the manliest men, Gerard Butler. Directed by Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness) and produced by Butler (among others.)

He plays a former pro-footballer (Soccer to neophytes-the kind of football played with the feet) trying to reconnect with his son only to be waylaid by desperate housewives, cougars and ubiquitous soccer-moms (considering the number of women who consider Butler to be sex-on-a-stick, there is a serious dearth of love scenes in his films, so I don’t care if it’s ‘waylaid’ or any other kind of laid, as long as it’s on screen. Preferably with tongue).

That title sounds a little obscene doesn’t it?  Clive Owen has just been named the face of the new men’s fragrance from Italian fashion house Bulgari.

The scent:

Features top notes of Calabrian bergamot, violet leaves and lotus blossom

Does anyone know what the hell ‘top notes of Calabrian bergamot’ even means? Can you get that at Walmart?  Didn’t think so. This scent could smell like chicken for all I care.  Regardless my husband’s getting a bottle for Christmas.
