Corey Feldman Pissed At The Oscars
So the 2011 Oscars just went down on Sunday night, with a little bit of chaos as always. This time one of the hosts, James Franco was a huge part of the buzz seeing as how he appeared full on stoned for the event. Yeah, not classy at all. Anyhow, the Academy Awards always include an “In Memoriam” segment and it seems that some of the deceased stars of the year are always left out.
Well this time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences left out Corey Haim and his dear friend, Corey Feldman is pissed off about it saying, they “have a handle on who the public adores.” (Feldman was also snubbed at the SAGs.)
Corey told TMZ,
“Corey’s films have earned the industry over a half a billion dollars and his work remains an inspiration to young artists world wide … Corey dedicated his life to the film industry. The same industry that failed to dedicate even 30 seconds to his memory.”

In response, the Academy gave this statement,
“Whatever the length of the sequence, there will always be fans and family members of those not included who will be disappointed by their omission. The Academy extends its understanding and its apologies to those who missed seeing a favorite face in this year’s feature.”
Honestly, I think it is messed up to leave any of the stars out. Even if they only get a two second “moment”, at least they were honored. They also snubbed Peter Graves and Betty Garrett. Who gets to decide the worth of someone. Who deserves the honor or not? Why not include everyone?
What do you think? Should the Academy get to snub the dead?
