Most of my coffee ended up on my laptop after reading that Doug Hutchison, the 51 year old man that married 16 year old Courtney Stodden (who is now 17), has dropped out of The Genesis of Lincoln about President Abraham Lincoln's life because he was concerned about sexual content. I know, right? He marries a 16 year old who carries herself in a manner that would suggest she wants a porn career, and he's worried about sexual content in a film about Lincoln?
He was to play a director who was adapting a film about the President's life. The film's producer/director Richard O'Sullivan confirmed to WENN:
"I know it's gonna surprise a lot of people to hear this, but Doug was legitimately concerned about some of the sexual content and how people might not be able to separate who he is as a person from the character he was playing.
"The role in question is that of filmmaker Drey LeBeck, a director who sets out to adapt the infamous Cathey book, who falls into a strange and scandalous relationship with the teenage pop star he casts as Lincoln's mother.
"Initially, it seemed like perfect casting, playing on the parallels. But eventually I think Doug and the character became too intertwined. Doug's a wonderful guy, a brilliant actor, and a terrific creative collaborator. Ultimately though, they're not one and the same. The character at points is not nearly as sympathetic and as likeable as Doug, and this is coming from someone who likes Doug a lot."
While that kind of makes sense, Doug isn't exactly having his door knocked down for roles. I don't mean that in a mean-spirited way, but how is he going to keep Courtney in her stripper shoes? Now THAT I totally meant in a mean-spirited way.
