Miss Piggy Talks to the Stars on the BAFTA Red Carpet!

Miss Piggy Talks to the Stars on the BAFTA Red Carpet!

We brought you some great pics from last night’s red carpet in front of the 65th annual BAFTA  Awards and told you about Miss Piggy’s debut as a celebrity interviewer of celebrities, and apparently she was a big hit. We just found some footage and I have to share it with you.  Gary Oldman told her she was “the most sincere person I’ve met on this line so far”

Miss Piggy, who looked lovely in custom-made Louis Vuitton,  lined up a new film with Jessica Chastain (a “buddy comedy”), thought The Help was a remake of a Beatles movie (and told Octavia Spencer she was  a good Ringo) and talked, and shamelessly flirted, with the likes of Michael Fassbender and got flirted with by Jonah Hill, who demanded a kiss, and Adam Deacon who asked her for a date. Tom Hiddleston seemed genuinely, and very sweetly, star-struck.

Of course La Porker, whose real name is Pigathia although she told Daniel Radcliffe to call her “Miss”, saved her affections for Jon Hamm (even if she didn’t get the joke).

Through the Keyhole with Daniel Radcliffe and The Woman in Black

The Woman in Black Welcomes Back Hammer! (Clip +Posters)

The more I see of The Woman in Black, the more excited about it I get. Famed Hammer Studios has chosen this film to launch its rebirth and it really looks like an inspired choice. Watch the clip below and see if you don’t agree. It starts out innocuously enough, and it would have been better if Ciaran Hinds had had a line or two (but that’s just me).

Okay…I jumped.

One thing I notice here is that Daniel Radcliffe looks like an adult. If I, and the rest of the world, hadn’t seen him grow up, I’d never associate the man in this clip with the boy. (Which, oddly enough, was not the case when I saw him on SNL or when I’ve seen him on talk shows. He seems ill at ease in front of a camera “as himself”, but not when he can slip into a character.)

The brief synopsis once again: Radcliffe plays Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who travels to a remote village in England, specifically Eel Marsh House (nice imagery in that name) to settle the estate of a reclusive widow, where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals.

The Woman in Black haunts theaters in the US starting February 3 and in the UK on 10th February.

Thanks to the UK Sun for the clip.

The Woman in Black Welcomes Back Hammer! (Clip + Posters)

The Woman in Black Welcomes Back Hammer! (Clip +Posters)

There are two new posters for James Watkins’ The Woman in Black, a classic gothic ghost story starring Daniel Radcliffe that we’ve been talking about for some time. They’re both terrific, but the one above, especially has resonance with me because I’m a huge fan of old Hammer horror films as well as the tv anthology series from the early 80’s. That poster is classic Hammer and would be right at home along side any of the posters for the films of Christopher Lee or Peter Cushing.

The accompanying clip you can watch below is sort of a behind-the-scenes of the movie, but it’s more about the reanimation of the iconic movie studio. Hammer is back and they’re reentering the world with The Woman in Black. Based on a novel by Susan Hill, the script was written by Jane Goldman (Stardust, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class), one of the sharpest, quirkiest, most talented (not to mention confident. You have to love a grown woman bold enough to sport fuchsia hair) screenwriters at work these days, so even without the Hammer pedigree and the incredible cast headed by Radcliffe, Janet McTeer and Ciaran Hinds, I’d be giving this a shot. I love a good horror film, especially a ghost story (as opposed to the blood and guts torture porn that passes for modern horror). There’s nothing like sitting in the dark with your popcorn and being frightened and then walking out into the sunlight (I like to go to matinees. I’m not crazy!)

By the way, I saw Dan on Jimmy Fallon the other night. He’s a little bit manic, but he seems like a very decent chap and very proud of this movie. The Woman in Black opens February 3.

More Spooktacular Hi-Res Images from The Woman in Black!

More Spooktacular Hi-Res Images from The Woman in Black!

I saw a ‘standup’ for James Watkins' (that’s him pictured below—he’s the one with the ‘cans’ around his neck) ghost story, The Woman in Black in the lobby of a local theater this week. (it was a bigger version of the creepy poster with the two kids with the scratched out eyes). While I'm certainly ready to see this classic Victorian gothic spook-fest, I’ve been talking about it since August after all, it was nice to hear other people sound excited about it too. Now that the countdown to its release has begun in earnest, we'll be getting new material more often. Today have a few eerie new stills to share.

The Woman in Black stars Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, he begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.

Written by Jane Goldman (StardustKick-Ass and X-Men: First Class), The Woman in Black also stars Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer (a recent SAG, Independent Spirit and Golden Globe nominee for Albert Nobbs) and Roger Allam and begins haunting theaters in the US on February 3 and in the UK on 10th February.

Another Creepy New Poster and Stills from The Woman in Black!

Another Creepy New Poster and Stills from The Woman in Black!

We’ve been talking about James Watkins' ghost story, The Woman in Black with Daniel Radcliffe since late August. I’m ready to see this classic Victorian gothic spook-fest already! Actually, it’s only a little over a month away now. We’ve seen a definite uptick in material released to promote it lately, including new trailers and tv spots.

Today we have another new poster and a few new stills. The poster makes more use of the tagline "What did they see", using images similar to the last poster – like those creepy kids with the scatched-out eyes – as well as reinforcing the eerie tone of the whole thing. I’m excited about the stills because they, much like the last trailer, give us a bit more of Ciaran Hinds.
