New Clip and Candy-Colored Pics from Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax!

New Clip and Candy-Colored Pics from Dr. Seuss' The Lorax!

We have a new clip from Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax! The clip is called “Animal Surprise” and it’s a hilarious scene wherein The Once-ler (voiced by Ed Helms) wakes to find The Lorax (Danny DeVito) in his bed and his house infested with bears and other forest creatures.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, is based on classic Seuss tale of Ted, a 12-year-old boy (Zac Efron) who searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of Audrey, the girl of his dreams (Taylor Swift). To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. Bit of trivia: Ted and Audrey are named after Dr. Seuss (whose real name was Theodore Seuss Geisel) and his (second) wife, Audrey.

Other voices in the cast include Rob Riggle, Jenny Slate, Marina Sirtis and Betty White as Grammy Norma.  Universal will release Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (the first film to feature Universal’s 100th Anniversary logo) on March 2 in the US and Canada and 27th July in the UK.  Enjoy the clip and as well as the colorful new images, including the cast at work!

Poster and First Trailer for Jeff Who Lives at Home

Poster and First Trailer for Jeff Who Lives at Home

We just got a brand new poster for Jeff Who Lives at Home, the new film from the writers/directors of indie darling Cyrus, Jeff and Mark Duplass.  It’s the story of an aimless 30-something played by Jason Segel who, appropriately enough, is still living in his mother’s house. Dispatched from his basement room on an errand for his mother (Susan Sarandon), slacker Jeff might discover his destiny (finally) when he spends the day withhis brother (Ed Helms) as he tracks his possibly adulterous wife (Judy Greer).

Now before I could even get that out to you, Paramount Vantage has just released the first trailer. (It's unusual that they come in such close proximity to each other, but I like it.) The trailer shows us much more than a simple comedy. The filmmakers aren’t going for rioutous laughter. It’s obviously a story about family and finding one’s path and place in the world, with sharp dialogue and nuanced performances that provide the comic relief.

Whatever else is going on here, there's going to be a soft gooey center full of heart. And whatever else the Duplass brothers have going for them, they have the ability to attract a great cast. Cyrus boasted Oscar winner Marisa Tomei, Oscar nominee John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill (okay so since then he’s been nominated for a Golden Globe).  Jeff Who Lives at Home made its debut at Sundance 2011 and then played the Toronto International Film Festival last fall. The film opens in the US on March 16 and 20th April in the UK.

Two New International Posters for Dr. Seuss The Lorax

Two New International Posters for Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is another one of those movies that feels as if we’ve been talking about it forever and I just want to see it already! (We just brought you the launch of the movie’s Facebook campaign for the 60 day countdown a couple of weeks ago but January feel s like it’s dragging. As usual). The movie is a  “3D-CGI …adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope.”  Surely you remember it from your childhood, you know that window of time before  your misspent youth?

“The animated adventure follows the journey of a boy as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams.  To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Danny DeVito will lend his vocal talents to the iconic title character of the Lorax, while Ed Helms will voice the enigmatic Once-ler.  Also bringing their talents to the film are global superstars Zac Efron as Ted, the idealistic young boy who searches for the Lorax, and Taylor Swift as Ashley, the girl of Ted’s dreams.  Rob Riggle will play financial king O’Hare, and beloved actress Betty White will portray Ted’s wise Grammy Norma.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is the third feature created by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me, Hop).”

I love the candy colored posters we’ve been getting for this and the animation seems appropriately Seussian (a style that seems to be a specialty of Illumination Entertainment). Of the two new international posters I like the Dutch version better since it includes The Once-ler. The Spanish version does give a nice glimpse of Thneedville. Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax opens March 2 in the US, but not until 27th July in the UK.

The official synopsis: From the creators of Despicable Me and the imagination of Dr. Seuss comes the 3D-CG feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, an adaptation of the classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope. Watch This: Trailer for The Lorax from Down Under!

It is Here! It is Here! TheTrailer for The Lorax!

For some reason the Australian trailer for Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax has a lot more of the story in it. A lot more. It still manages to not give much away, but it seems to setup the story in a much more enticing way for those who, sadly, do not know the Dr. Seuss book upon which it's based.  It also doesn’t waste time with the silly romantic sub-plot like the US version.  We get more of the Once-ler and this time I get more of Ed Helms in his voice.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is the tale of a 12-year-old boy (Ted, voiced by Zac Efron) who searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax (voiced by Danny DeVito), the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. It’s directed by Chris Renaud and Kyle Balda who brought us Despicable Me which was better than I thought it would be, but not as good as it could have been (for whatever that’s worth).

Being an appreciator of all things Seuss-ian, I’m looking forward to Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, which lands in 3D (of course) on March 2, 2012. I look forward to more goodies from Universal between now and then.
