Music legend Elton John is being treated in a Los Angeles hospital for a serious respiratory infection that forced him to cancel his Las Vegas show. He was performing "The Million Dollar Piano," last weekend at Caesar's Palace when he became ill. After a series of tests he was released but put on bed rest for a period of 7 days along with completing an antibiotic treatment. 

Elton took to his website:

"It feels strange not to be able to perform these 'Million Dollar Piano' concerts at The Colosseum.I love performing this show and I will be thrilled when we return to The Colosseum in October to complete the eleven concerts soon to be scheduled. All I can say to the fans is sorry I can't be with you. I hope to see you soon at this wonderful theatre at Caesars Palace."

His final four performances have been canceled and ticket holders have the choice of receiving a full refund or exchanging their tickets for another performance.

While I know Sir Elton John is an icon (to say the least) and deserves top billing, this is the Pepsi commercial that was part of Melanie Amaro's win on X-Factor and does she ever deliver in it!

PepsiCo released details of the spot called 'King's Court' and it's going to air for the Super Bowl XLVI. Elton is the king who is auditioning talent and if they don't make the grade they don't get a Pepsi and he pulls a lever where they drop down underneath the floor. Of course Melanie's pipes blow everyone (including the windows) away as she belts out 'Respect' so he has no choice but to let her have a Pepsi. She then turns the tables and the King goes buh-bye and says hello to Flavor Flav.

Melanie says of the Pepsi commercial:

"Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be starring in a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial, following in the footsteps of some of music's biggest legends," said Melanie Amaro.  "Winning THE X FACTOR has changed my life."

In one of the more humorous sketches on Saturday Night Live last night, Elton John and Tom Hanks had me in stitches.  Actually, it was mostly Tom who was playing Michael Caine who had me rolling.

Andy Samberg played Bono and took hits from Elton John when he ripped on Broadway musical ‘Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.’  You know the real Bono just loved that… ouch!

I will admit, I don’t think that Elton was the best host I’ve seen on SNL, Tom Hanks was much more of a pleasant surprise.  If it weren’t for his appearances, last night would have been a wasted episode.

Sir Elton John is the host and musical guest tomorrow night on Saturday Night Live.  After seeing the American Idol contestants perform all of those Elton songs, I am definitely ready for my real Elton fix!

Last night the 19^th Annual Elton John Aids Foundation Viewing Party took place at the Pacific Design Centre in West Hollywood where celebrities gathered to celebrate the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

This party is not only as coveted as the Vanity Fair one, and one of the best parties, it also benefits Elton John’s Aids Foundation.

Like in all of the other years, lots of celebrities attended this one: Lance Bass, Tori Spelling, Kim Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne, Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens and lots more.

The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is just a little over 2 months away and news that the guest list has hit 1900, as well as the wedding invitation has been released.

Now rumours are swirling that the celebrity portion of the list will include David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and Kanye West.

Imagine if you are Sarah Ferguson or the Obamas who didn’t get an invite but Kanye did. Of course David Beckham has been invited as he helped Prince William on the 2018 World Cup bid for England. Elton John of course was good friends with William’s mother Princess Diana, so that makes sense. I’m not sure of the connection with Kanye. I doubt he’s going to be singing at the reception, but one never knows.

Jason Mraz and his fiancee, Tristan Prettyman are making a huge statement.  They are putting their wedding on hold until gay marriage is legalized.

Jason Mraz is Getting Married!

Mraz was at Elton John’s Concert to Benefit the American Foundation for Equal Rights in Beverly Hills Wednesday when he made the statement,

“We both feel that in our engagement, we have a union that’s really special and cant be broken. It’s a sacred bond.  The wedding would be nice for our family, our friends, our community — our moms especially — and so it puts us in the fight.  We can’t get married until [gay] marriage is legal and equal…I think giving people the right to marry will be a huge movement in civil rights.”

I wonder how, Tristan really feels about this.  I’d be upset.  I understand the cause.  But I also wouldn’t be willing to put my marriage on hold.  I think there’s a lot that can be done for the cause even after the wedding.  What if it takes 10 years?  Will she want to wait forever?
