Virginia is a little movie starring Jennifer Connelly in arguably the grittiest and meatiest role of her career about a single mother having an affair with the local sheriff and what happens when that affair goes wrong. Virginia is the directorial debut of Academy Award winning writer (Milk) Dustin Lance Black, who also wrote the screenplay. It was filmed in the fall of 2009 and debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2010. I have no idea why it’s been languishing for more than two years on some shelf somewhere. I can only imagine it comes down to money (doesn’t everything) and this very independent film finding distribution. It’s got a great cast including Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, Toby Jones and Emma Roberts. Take a look at the trailer.

Jennifer Connelly stars in the title role as a beautiful yet unhinged single mother who struggles to raise her son Emmett (Harrison Gilbertson) while dreaming of escaping her small Southern boardwalk town. Her long time affair with the very married, Mormon Sheriff Richard Tipton (Ed Harris) is thrown into question when he decides to run for public office. Things are further complicated when Emmett begins a romantic relationship with Tipton’s daughter (Emma Roberts). Virginia and the town–populated by Amy Madigan, Toby Jones, Yeardley Smith–are full of secrets and everyone knows Virginia can only keep things together for so long. VIRGINIA is a funny, touching drama that looks at the American Dream and what it takes to keep it together.

The film, whose original title was What’s Wrong with Virginia, will get a US release on May 18. Since I’m sure that it will be a “limited” release, look for it on VOD. It might not warrant a night out, but I’d say it’s worthy of a home viewing.

The 2012 Coachella Music Festival wrapped up for another year yesterday after spreading the music over two weekends. Yesterday we had photos of Kristen Stewart and today we have them of her boyfriend Robert Pattinson but unfortunately not together.

There were a couple of other vampires enjoying the music yesterday: True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and former Twilight vampire Rachelle Lefevre.

Zoe Kravitz and boyfriend Penn Badgley also made the scene as did the always lovely Dita Von Teese.

Yesterday was Day 1 of  Week 2 of 2012 Coachella Music Festival and the prettiest celebrity there was True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard. He was there last year with then-girlfriend Kate Bosworth but he's with the boys this year although there are rumors he and Charlize Theron are dating. 

Emma Roberts may as well have a neon sign over her head saying 'notice me' because to wear your bathing suit with a mesh top over it at a music festival screams I NEED ATTENTION.

Busy Phillips, the lovely and always classy Dita Von Teese and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (without gorgeous boyfriend Jason Statham) were also in the audience yesterday.

Day 2 of the 2012 Coachella Music Festival took place in Indio, California and some of the same celebrities were still rocking the event such as Jared Leto, Kate Bosworth and Vanessa Hudgens but we've got some new sightings: Katy Perry, Fergie, Josh Duhamel, a VERY buff Kellan Lutz, Emma Roberts and her boyfriend Glee's Chord Overstreet. 

I love the dress Katy has on but I don't like that it's so see-through. Mind you she looks great in it but I don't think the average person would walk around like that, do you?

Let's talk about Kellan. How buffed up is he? He looks HUGE. I looked on IMDB to see if it was for a role, but based on what he's currently filming it doesn't seem so. Perhaps he is preparing for an upcoming role. Either way it's delicious eye candy isn't it?

Is Kate Bosworth's boyfriend married? He's got a wedding band on his finger and I'm wondering if it's just symbolic of his commitment to her or there's a wife at home which would make him the dumbest guy on earth really.

Tallulah Willis chose the pants-optional approach to the festival.

Hot new young couple Glee’s Chord Overstreet 22, and Emma Roberts 20, hit up Disneyland with a group of friends for some rides, fries and fun. Okay maybe there aren’t fries on that plate Chord is carrying but I’m going to pretend there are because I love me some fries.

Do you see the face of the little Angel that Chord is hanging on to in that log ride? The poor little thing is terrified but you know thrilled to be on the ride at the same time.

Glee heartthrob Chord Overstreet, 22 and Julia’s niece (and Scream 4 cast member) Emma Roberts, 22 were caught sucking face at the A|X Armani Exchange and 944 Magazine carnival in Indio, Calif. A witness tells US Magazine exclusively: ”They were making out,” ”They couldn’t keep their hands off each other!” ”They were talking about heading to a hotel pool!”  Geezuz. Eavesdrop much?

Hot damn! Chord has romanced Taylor Swift and costar Naya Rivera so not only can we look forward to a song about how he broke Taylor’s heart, he’s going to be getting the stink-eye next time he’s on set.

But is the romance a short-lived one? According to another source to US (unless the first one was stalking the couple in which case I take back the ‘eavesdrop much’ comment and tip my hat to you): ”She was leaning into him,” “but he seemed way more interested in his food.”

Typical man. Ha! What do you think? Summer fling or does this romance have what it takes to go the distance? Okay I’m laughing as I’m typing this.

Emma Roberts is the last girl on earth that I’d think of going for a Taylor Momsen look.  But yesterday Emma was doing just that as she was spotted out in West Hollywood leaving a salon.

Happy Halloween!  Emma Roberts was out shopping in Beverly Hills, minding her own business when a crazy stalker guy kept following her around, wearing a crocodile mask.  WTF?  Is that the trendy stalker mask this year?  Emma is totally cracking me up.  She’s not spazzing.  She’s not calling the cops.  She’s keeping to herself, ignoring the reptile on her tail.

Emma has a ton of projects going, but the one I am most looking forward to will be her appearance in ‘Scream 4‘ where she plays Jill Roberts.  The Scream movies are such a riot.
