Oh Hermione! What Would Ron Weasley Say?

Oh Hermione! What Would Ron Weasley Say?

I’m sure you remember the stories of Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan (among others) having their homes broken into and all of their prized possessions stolen etc etc.  Writer/director Sofia Coppola has taken these incidents and turned them into her next movie, The Bling Ring starring Emma Watson and we have your first look.

Inspired by actual events, a group of fame-obsessed teenagers use the Internet to track celebrities' whereabouts in order to rob their homes.

(Law & Order: LA, before it was unceremoniously yanked off the air, also did an episode based on this group.)

Coppola has again assembled a talented and eclectic cast (which has become her trademark). In addition to Watson as Nicki, Leslie Mann is Nicki’s Mom as well as Nina Siemaszko, Gavin Rossdale and Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story – sister of Vera). Kirsten Dunst who starred in Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is rumored to have a role. (The film is still in production so we don’t know if it’s true yet.)

Speaking of “still in production”, there are recent reports that the film may have put the actual court case from the 2008-2009 incidents in jeopardy. Coppola hired a working LAPD officer, Brett Goodkin, as a technical advisor, but Goodkin's testimony is likely to be critical in the trials of the three accused.  He never notified prosecutors about his work on the movie.  Oops.

The Bling Ring does not currently have a release date other than 2013. We’ll keep you posted.

Perky Pics for The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Perky Pics for The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Despite the fact that they haven’t given us an exact date, Summit Entertainment definitely has Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower on its 2012 schedule.

Based on the novel written by the director, who adapted his own novel as well, the film is about 15-year-old Charlie (Logan Lerman), an endearing and naive outsider, coping with first love (Emma Watson), the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental illness while struggling to find a group of people with whom he belongs. The introverted freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.

It almost seems like a step backward for Emma Watson to be playing a teenager again after first “grown up” turn in My Week with Marilyn, but she filmed Perks first, it’s just been in production and then seeking distribution for a long time. Take from that what you will. *edit*

The Perks of Being a Wallflower counts John Malkovich among its producers and has an amazing cast including Paul Rudd, Dylan McDermott, Melanie Lynskey, Kate Walsh, Nina Dobrev, Mae Whitman (Bernice Pruitt in Hope Floats, Ann Veal in "Arrested Development"-this girl needs to work more) and Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About KevinAnother Happy Day).

(Speaking of Emma Watson, anyone catch Abby Elliot’s impression during Daniel Radcliffe’s hosting turn on SNL? Very subtle, but very good.) Enjoy the pics!

New Pics from The Perks of Being a Wallflower Showcase Teen Angst

New Pics from The Perks of Being a Wallflower Showcase Teen Angst

It almost seems like a step backward for Emma Watson to be playing a teenager in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, after her first “grown up” turn in My Week with Marilyn, but Perks has been in production so long she probably filmed it first.  Perks is written and directed by Stephen Chbosky who adapted the screenplay from his own novel of the same name.  It stars Watson and Logan Lerman (GamerThe Three Musketeers)

Synopsis: Both humorous and heartbreaking, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a coming of age story about 15-year-old Charlie (Lerman), an endearing and naive outsider, coping with first love (Watson), the suicide of his best friend and his own mental illness while struggling to find a group of people with whom he belongs.

From the above I get the heartbreaking, I’m hoping its target audience will find the humor.

No release dates other than a vague 2012.

Emma Watson Knows The Perks of Being a Wallflower!

Emma Watson Knows The Perks of Being a Wallflower!

…although frankly, I find it hard to believe that the actress who grew up playing Hermione Granger in nine films could ever truly be a wallflower, Emma Watson and Logan Lerman (GamerThe Three Musketeers) star in writer/director Stephen Chobsky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Chobsky adapted the screenplay from his own novel of the same name.

Emma Watson Is All Grown Up, Gorgeous and Glamorous For Lancome PHOTOS

Emma Watson Is All Grown Up, Gorgeous and Glamorous For Lancome PHOTOS

Emma Watson 21, looks very grown up, gorgeous and glamorous in these Lancome campaign photos.  Emma has been named the ambassadress for the Lancome empire:

“I was incredibly flattered to be asked to be the ambassadress. I think Lancome has so much class and style and history.”

That it does! Do you use their products? The ONLY scent I will ever wear is their Tresor perfume. It is a gorgeous, ‘clean’ scent. I get people complimenting how I smell all the time, lol.

This campaign was shot in March and her hopes for it:

”I hope it brings a sense of optimism and fun and a sense of youthful energy life is just kind of like magical and full of surprise. I wanted the campaign’s love story to be about that. There’s something modern but also timeless about that kind of story.”

Mission accomplished according to Lancome’s President and CEO Youcef  Nabi:

”Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become the icon of her generation. We are delighted by this new collaboration with Emma, who brings a fresh spirit to Lancome.”

How can you argue with that? If Ms. Nabi would like to send me some perfume so I can continue smelling pretty it would be greatly appreciated.

Harry Potter: Emma Watson Bailing On Brown For A NEW School

Emma Watson ELLE Style Awards 2011

There has been a lot of speculation and rumors about why Emma Watson is leaving Brown University. The main rumor was that she’s been being bullied and couldn’t take it anymore. Well, her rep has cleared the air stating that those rumors are completely false.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 – FINAL SCENE (Video)

Emma has decided on a major that Brown didn’t offer courses in, so she has to transfer. So where is she going? Of course they haven’t released that yet. But I am sure it will be in the headlines shortly. But at least we know now that Emma didn’t have a bad experience and she’s not dropping out. She’s just furthering her education where she will benefit the most.

Kudos to her for continuing her education when she doesn’t have to.

Emma Watson Needs a Break… From School

Hollywood life is definitely a full time job.  So when Emma Watson took on Brown University in the middle of her Harry Potter career, I was pretty impressed.  But I was also wondering just how well she’d be able to balance all of that and still excel at both. Well, it looks like it’s become a bit much for the young star and she’s ready to take a break from education.  But just for a bit.  She shared the decision on her site:

Hi everyone

As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.
I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree… it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought : )

Hope you are all well! Thank you for all your continuing support.

Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows Part I World Premiere [PHOTOS]

I actually think that’s a very wise decision.  Why keep burning your candle on both ends when you don’t have to and you are likely to fail a little at both tasks.  Emma is a very dedicated person and I think she is doing the right thing here.  Kudos girl!
