Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane (aka McSteamy) has checked himself into rehab as a preventative measure Radar Online is reporting.

Eric checked into The Hills Treatment Center mid June and his spokesperson says:

“Actor Eric Dane voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus. He reports back to work week. Business as usual.”

A ‘source’ told the star: “Eric felt things spiraling out of control and decided he needed to get some help,” Don’t you love so-called ‘friends’ who shoot off their mouths like that?

Grey’s Anatomy resumes shooting July 19 and his wife Rebecca Gayheart is pregnant with their second child who will join big sister Billie Beatrice.

Kudos to Eric for taking control of his situation and doing right by himself and his family. Our thoughts and prayers with him and his family!

The movie talks to various couples and singles regarding the pressure put upon people by expectations associated with this day and I don’t know about you, but even being married I really dislike this day.  Besides the fact that people should be loving to one another all year long it just seems a bit too commercial for me.

The film hits theatres February 12 and apparently a sequel is planned, but this time it will take place on New Years’ Eve.

I suppose I should have included in the headline the fact that Eric Dane is filming scenes for his movie Valentine’s Day.  But I wanted to capture the most important thing here:  he’s shirtless.

You know, it wouldn’t matter if he were solving the global warming issue from the back of his van.  He’s shirtless.  That’s all that matters.  It’s exhausting having so much depth.
