You have to love Cannes, especially if you’re a fan of old-school Hollywood glamour. Not even for a red carpet LA premiere do the stars, particularly the female stars, get as dolled up as they do for a gala premiere at Cannes. What I find especially amusing is the stars who cross the ocean and a couple of time zones just for the occasion. They have no movie to promote, they just want a chance to get dressed up. Lana del Ray in a simple black Alberta Ferretti is one such example this year, but there is never a greater example of this than Eva Longoria.

The diminutive perpetual starlet has shown up to Cannes for the last seven or eight years for the express purpose of having her picture taken in some over-the-top designer evening dress. And she did not disappoint.

The movie in question for tonight’s gala was the opening night presentation of Wes Anderson’s eagerly awaited Moonrise Kingdom and most of the stars of the film and certainly most in attendance are male. The lone distaff representative was Tilda Swinton but she was in Haider Ackerman, an edgy but appropriate choice for fashion forward Swinton, but no match for the organza, cotton candy lace puffery of Longoria’s Marchesa.

Jane Fonda looks AH-MAZ-BALLS.  That is all.

Chris Pine, looking stellar and Alec Baldwin,  are both in town to support Rise of the Guardians  As I mentioned earlier, Alec will also host Cannes biggest bash, the AmFar benefit.  He had his fiancé Hilaria in tow and she looked very old-Hollywood elegant and I don’t know anything about her other than she teaches yoga, but she’s obviously very good for Alec because he looks better than he has in years. Remember when he used to be HOT? 

Having a hot young wife is working for Bruce Willis too, one of the stars of Moonrise Kingdom. Love the tux Bruce.  Edward Norton showed up but, I wasn’t impressed with his suit. Make an effort. Even Bill Murray glammed up for the occasion. C'mon Ed, you don’t do this every day. You can continue saving the planet tomorrow.

God, aka Harvey Weinstein, made an appearance. I think I saw some people genuflecting in the background. Ewan McGregor cleaned up nicely. Not sure what’s up with that hair. Perhaps its an homage to David Lynch.

Hands down the best dressed for the second time today was his fellow juror Diane Kruger. Flawless.

So we’re off and running for eleven days of glitz, glamour, premieres and parties. And movie news. Lots and lots of movie news.  Apparently tonight’s, Moonrise Kingdom, was a hit with the audience at the Palais du Festival. More on that when it gets closer to home.

It was date night for Gwen Stefani and hubby Gavin Rossdale as they made their way onto the red carpet at the Heart Foundation Gala held at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. on Thursday, May 10.  Gavin was his dapper self in a black two-piece silk suit as he escorted wife Gwen who was the epitome of beauty and elegance in a Georges Chakra Fall 2010 Couture dress that featured a one-shoulder asymmetrical bodice with sequin embellished bands.  Gwen completed her look with black satin Louboutin pumps, pink clutch and her signature red lips.  This old Hollywood look is fabulous on Gwen.  I hope she wears more of it.  What do you think?

Another couple hitting the red carpet also on May 10 were newlyweds Natalie Portman and hubby Benjamin Millepied.  The lovebirds attended the New York City Ballet's 2012 Spring Gala at the David H. Koch Theatre, Lincoln Centre in NYC to celebrate Benjamin's new dance company.  Always a red carpet winner, Thursday night was no different as Natalie was stunning in a dark blue Christian Dior silk chiffon tiered gown with black ribbon detailing around the waist and neckline.  Natalie completed her look with Dior Fine Jewelry earrings and a black Dior clutch.  Natalie is one of those celebs who you always look forward to seeing on the red carpet.  Her look is so refined and elegant and is reminiscent to that of Audrey Hepburn.  

Having just celebrated her first wedding anniversary, Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge was glowing in a show-stopping long-sleeved cream Roland Mouret dress when she and hubby William were guests at a dinner hosted by the Thirty Club in Claridge's Hotel, Mayfair, London on Monday, May 7.  The dress features a dramatic front side split which showed off her strappy silver snake-skin Jimmy Choo heels.  The Duchess completed her look with a matching silver sequin clutch and a stunning pair of vintage style Eva diamond earrings from London-based Beaut.  The colour of the dress is beautiful on the Duchess as it compliments her lustrous chestnut tresses.  The dress and the shoes are quite a departure from what we're used to seeing the Duchess wearing and a very nice one, I might add. 

Attending the 2012 Operation Smile Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC was Ivanka Trump who was stunning as she strikes a pose on the red carpet in a blue sapphire Salvatore Ferragamo jewelled silk sable gown from the designer's Women's Resort 2012 Collection.  The model turned businesswoman and new mother was among the many A-listers, including other Trump family members, who attended the non-profit organization's yearly event that provides free reconstructive surgery for children around the world born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate. 

All eyes were on Michelle Pfeiffer who attended the Hollywood premiere of her latest film, Dark Shadows this past week at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.  The gorgeous actress wore a crinkled, burnished gold silk‑lamé Lanvin sheath accessorized with Sergio Rossi platform pumps, gold Bottega Veneta clutch and an antique-style Rona Pfeiffer necklace, which she wore in the movie.  This is a stunning colour on Michelle and looks like liquid gold was poured over her to match her skin tone.  On that note, I think it should be named Pfeiffer Gold.  What do you think?  Michelle plays family matriarch, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, in the film which opened this week in theatres.  

Also attending the Hollywood premiere of Dark Shadows is Michelle Pfeiffer's co-star and former Bond Girl, Eva Green who casts a stunning silhouette of her own at the premiere.  The 31-year-old French-born beauty, who plays Angelique Bouchard in the film, slipped into this deep platinum number by the Tom Ford Fall 2011 Collection.  The all-lace dress features a high-neck and long sleeves and is embellished with jewel accents from head to toe.  The overall look is alluring, as are Eva's eyes.  Although Johnny Depp may have the leading role in the film, it appears that Michelle Pfeiffer and Eva Green stole the show on the red carpet.  

Her series may be over, but that didn't stop Eva Longoria from looking her best at a taping of The Late Show with David Letterman on May 9, 2012.  The actress is still smiling and looking beautiful as ever as she donned a black Victoria Beckham Spring 2012 dress that features dove gray back straps styled with a pair of pink metallic killer Brian Atwood platform stilettos with black and gold accents.  The shoes speak for themselves – naughty, but nice.  The series finale of Desperate Housewives can be seen tomorrow, Sunday, May 13.  But no worries here for Eva, as I'm sure her next television and/or movie role is right around the corner!

And completing this week's Fabulous Fashionistas on a sweet note is Modern Family star Julie Bowen who attended the P.L. Arts Evening of Modernism event in Santa Monica on May 4, 2012.  The actress looked lovely in a delicious chocolate brown strapless dress, pleated throughout, completing her look with David Yurman jewels, metallic clutch and pumps.  Yummy!  Don't you just want to crack open a box of chocolates?

It’s hard to believe that Desperate Housewives will be going off the air forever after this season which marks Season 8 of the long-running ABC series.

In true fashion, the promo shots for the final season are nothing shy of glamorous! Eva Longoria 36, Marcia Cross 49, Felicity Huffman 48, Teri Hatcher 46 and Vanessa Williams 48 are perhaps ‘made up’ to the hills and maybe even a little photoshopped but the ladies look divine and why not go out with a bang?

And don’t forget that Nicolette Sheridan (who played Edie Britt and is suing producer Marc Cherry in real life) will be returning to the final season. It’s not known if she will be filming new segments or if they will be reusing old ones.

The new season premieres Sunday September 25 9/8 c.

Eva Longoria proves she is no desperate housewife as she is seen strutting her stuff in L.A. on Monday  dressed in casual blue jeans, t-shirt and blazer, topped with what I'm guessing is a Birkin handbag retailing in the thousands (or tens of thousands) of dollars.

However, you can get yours for a couple of dollars less on E-Bay.  While some people may gasp in horror at that price, I say "You go girl!"  Hmmm … is it just me or is Ms. Longoria looking mighty fine since she said adios to what's his face?

Greetings all,

It has been brought to my attention that people who do not know me think that I have had an affair with Tony Parker. I have received hundreds of emails and phone calls from supportive friends who do know me and know that what is being insinuated about me is a complete lie. I am so busy with my children and law school studies that to take even a few moments out of my day to address this ludicrous issue is an annoyance. I only take the time to explain myself because apparently my silence, as a result of my indifference, has been construed as an admission of guilt. These are my words and this is the last you will hear from me on this subject because I have more important things to do.

I DID NOT HAVE AN AFFAIR WITH TONY PARKER, nor did I “pursue” Tony Parker. Unfortunately, because our divorces are occurring at the same time, great speculation has been cast on our friendship. My friendship with Tony Parker had nothing to do with the end of my marriage (which is painful enough without this added drama), and to assume that we had an affair is naïve, ridiculous, and completely misguided.

Every day I dedicate myself to being a good person and the best Mom that I can possibly be for my two beautiful children. I pride myself on being a Mom first, an advocate for abused children second, and a law student third. Those are the things that are of the utmost importance to me. I have spent my adult life fighting for children who have been victimized so forgive me for not caring when someone tells me that my name is being dragged through the mud.

Salacious rumors are not what keeps me awake at night. What keeps me awake is wondering how the 5-year-old who was taken away from her abusive family is sleeping during her first night in a children’s shelter. I worry about friends fighting overseas and whether or not they will return home to their families. I worry about the health of my children, my family, and my friends. I worry about soccer uniforms, carpool, immunizations, baseball practice, paying the bills on time, grocery shopping, the kid’s homework, and so many other things that may seem menial to some people; but to me are everything. Right now I worry about my law school finals… being a first year law student is much scarier than dealing with gossip!

Happy Thanksgiving. My family and I want thank our troops and their families for their sacrifices that enable us to enjoy our freedoms this holiday season.
