2008’s Taken turned middle aged Liam Neeson into an action hero.  After the film became a hit, it probably doesn’t surprise anyone that they’ve made a sequel.  In the appropriately title Taken 2, Neeson returns as CIA agent Bryan Mills. This time out, instead of having to rescue his daughter (again played by Maggie Grace) she's the one who has to rescue him when folks connected to the villains in the first film try to exact their revenge. 

The synopsis contains a sort of spoiler. Apparently Neeson’s character reunited with Famke Janssen’s after the first movie:

In Istanbul, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills and his wife are taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter.

Neeson told EW that the sequel will pick up one year after the events of the first film, and that it’s "a very clever sequel with the usual thrills and spills, but the ante is upped quite a bit in this one."

Famke Janssen’s Directorial Debut at Cannes Film Festival

The always beautiful Famke Janssen appeared at Day 3 of the Cannes Film Festival at the American Pavillion for her directorial debut in the movie ‘Bringing Up Bobby’. The film stars Milla Jovovich (the con artist), Bill Pullman and Marcia Cross in the movie that Janssen also wrote, which according to imdb:

Is the story of a European con-artist and her son Bobby, who find themselves in Oklahoma in an effort to escape her past and build a better future.

We would have seen Janssen directing movies long before this one, but a little thing like a James Bond film got in the way:

I had written a bunch of scripts, and one screenplay got me into the AFI Film School,” It all happened at the same time, and when I opted for ‘Goldeneye,’ my career just ended up going in that direction,”

How did an actress who was making her first ever directorial debut get the financing? She made a ‘director’s book’:

”which illustrated how I viewed the film, which really helped,” she says. “So not only did I write the script, but I had a clear vision of how I wanted to shoot the film, and that ultimately gave people the confidence to give me the money to make it.”

Bringing Up Bobby debuts sometime this year but a specific date has not been set.

The gorgeous and super-talented Famke Janssen, 46,  has landed herself the role of leader of witches in ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’.  Cast so far in the Paramount Pictures movie in the title roles are Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.

The movie is described as:

Gary Sanchez is set to produce the movie but no word on when it will be released.

Famke Janssen attended the Tribeca Film Festival promoting her movie The Chameleon along with Nick Chinlund, Bill Perkins, Ellen Barkin, and Ram Bergman.

Robert De Niro and his lovely wife Grace Hightower were on hand for Straight Outta L.A. as was Terry Crews, Ice Cube, and Kimberly Woodruff.

Kirsten Dunst and Brian Geraghty were promoting Between The Lines.

It’s great to see that the stars keep giving to raise money for the devastating earthquake in Haiti.  Last night stars gathered for a Radiohead charity concert in Los Angeles to raise money for OXFAM.org.

George Clooney’s two-hour Hope For Haiti benefit raise over $57 Million but that is expected to rise given the songs performed are available through iTunes.  The Canadian Hope For Haiti benefit raised $16 Million.

The gorgeous Famke Janssen and her adorable dog Licorice, whose face I want to kiss, are in New York where Famke is on pooper scooper duty.  I wondered last week when I was there what happens in New York because it’s mostly pavement.  I guess one hopes for solid do do’s.  LOL.  It’s dinner time ya’ll!!
