Farrah Fawcett died of anal cancer a little over two years ago at the age of 62. What Farrah will always be remembered for (besides being gorgeous and an original Charlie’s Angel) is the bathing suit poster that was hung on many a boys’ walls back in the day. It also sparked a frenzy to have the Farrah Fawcett hairstyle. Whether your hair could actually do that or not.

To help raise money for the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, Mattel is coming out with the  Barbie Collector Farrah Fawcett doll, which is:

a three-dimensional rendition of the poster — right down to the one-piece red bathing suit, gold necklace and striped beach blanket — is now available.

The prototype for this doll went for $1,500 in November in a mere 20 minutes!

Her best friend of 30 years Alana Stewart is President of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation and says of the doll:

What would Farrah do?” She thinks her late friend would approve. The poster, Stewart says, represents “a sexy, all-American beauty; there is an innocence to it.”

When we were in Germany [for treatments], Farrah told me she was glad she got cancer, because now she could make a difference,”

The foundation is a private foundation that funds many non-profits aimed at cutting-edge treatments and will receive a royalty of every doll that is sold. The doll can be purchased at BarbieCollector.com for $34.95.

Farrah Fawcett was best known as her role of Jill Munroe on Charlie’s Angels but she too also died a year ago today after a courageous battle with cancer.

The Texan beauty went on to do many movies for television including The Burning Bed which I thought she was incredible in. She also appeared on Ally McBeal and Spin City in her time not to mention her endorsement deals.

A year later this Angel is probably looking down on her son Redmond with pride as former love (and father to Redmond) told Meredith Viera yesterday:

“He was thunderstruck to lose her “He turned his life around immediately “I’ve never seen such focus and success,”

“He’s doing extremely well. I say that with pride. I’m extremely relieved and gratified with his progress in the last year. He’s living in a sober living situation in Pasadena, and he’s beautiful, and his mother would be so proud of him.

Rest in Peace Farrah.

Ryan O’Neal spilled his guts in an interview with Vanity Fair about his kids, including hitting on his own daughter at Farrah’s funeral and his life with Farrah Fawcett. 

The couple had been together for a couple of decades but he left her in 1998 for a younger woman and because Farrah was going through menopause:

 ”I believe Farrah was going through some kind of life change. I didn’t have a change of life. I was always a jerk. But they’re hard work, these divas; I was sick of it, and I was unappreciated. I just don’t think she liked me very much. So I excused myself, and I was lucky enough to meet this young girl. She was more a daughter to me than a lover, and my own daughter had flown the coop, so here was this replacement.”

Farrah actually walked in on him and the girl on Valentine’s Day no less:

“It was terrible. I didn’t expect to see her down there. I tried to put my pants on, but I put both legs in one hole.”

Nice guy.  Farrah gives him the best years of her life, and because she’s going through something she has no control over he leaves her.  You’ve gotta love it.  It’s not like he morphed into George Clooney as he got older, yet she stuck by him.  And to show just how dedicated he was to Farrah, he hit on his own daughter at Farrah’s funeral:

“I had just put the casket in the hearse and was watching it drive away when a beautiful blond woman comes up and embraces me. I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me — Tatum!’  “I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter,” O’Neal said. “It’s so sick.”

Can you say douchebag?  Speaking of kids, he hates his and when asked if he regrets having them:

 “A couple of them I would take back. I don’t think I was supposed to be a father,” “Just look around at my work — they’re either in jail or they should be,”  ”I’m not in touch with them now, and I’ve never been happier.”

Redmond, the son he had with Farrah is the only one who he keeps in touch with, but Redmond considers his dad a “narcissistic psychopath”  and thinks he tried to get rich on Farrah’s death:

“All those crocodile tears!  I consider him a vulture presiding over a carcass.  My dad’s only goal was to make sure he would be in the will, it was so disgustingly transparent as soon as he found out she was terminal . . . Ryan thought he was going to get everything.”

Ryan does have regrets about his life with Farrah:

“I wish I could do it over with [her], I would have been much kinder, more understanding, more mature. I’d lose some of the savagery.”

Do you think?  On the one hand, I have to hand it to him for his honesty, but those unkind words about his kids serves no purpose other than to further alienate them.

This is the saddest news and so hard to believe.  Farrah Fawcett has died after her lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 62.  

Farrah  died at 9:28 a.m. PST on Thursday at St. John’s Heath Center in Santa Monica, Calif. She was with longtime partner Ryan O’Neal, friend Alana Stewart, friend and hairdresser Mela Murphy and her doctor Lawrence Piro.  Ryan O’Neal told People:

“She’s gone. She now belongs to the ages,” “She’s now with he mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She’s in a better place now.” 

 “She was with her team when she passed … Her eyes were open, but she didn’t say anything. But you could see in her eyes that she recognized us.”

Ryan confirmed that Farrah received her last rites.  Despite their desire to wed, Ryan told People:

“There just wasn’t time, and Farrah wasn’t in any condition to do it,”

Although their son, Redmond was not at her side he did speak to her on the phone, and according to Ryan told Farrah:

“how much he loved her and asked her to please forgive him that he was so very, very sorry,”

Our deepest condolences to her family and friends at this very sad time.

Fawcett has been hospitalized again, apparently undergoing ‘urgent treatment’ with her life partner Ryan O’Neal by her side.   Ryan is trying to secure a temporary jail release for their son Redmond.  A source told People that she has been there for two weeks and was to have been discharged:

“There was a moment last week when she was supposed to be released and was going home but things changed,”

Farrah’s publicist:

“She is still being treated for her condition.”

In an interview airing Friday with Barbara Walter, Ryan spoke of marrying Farrah:

 ”I’ve asked her to marry me again and she’s agreed.”   “We will, as soon as she can, say yes,” “Maybe we can just nod her head”

This is not the first time Ryan has proposed to Farrah:

“I used to ask her to marry me all the time,” “But … it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it.”

It is so sad that Farrah is back in the hospital.  They say it’s not looking good.    Our thoughts and prayers to her and her family.  If ever there were two people who were soul mates, Ryan and Farrah are it.

As Farrah Fawcett fights cancer, Ryan O’Neal wants to seal their 30 year union by getting married:

“I’d do that, I would do that (marry Fawcett). She’s still a little bit hesitant. I’m working though, I’m working.

“You know she’s been married, I’ve been married. She’s said, ‘We have a good thing’. But I said, ‘You said that 30 years ago, shouldn’t there be a sea change?’ Maybe there is, you never know.”

That is so beautiful isn’t it?  Ryan attended the world premiere screening of ‘Farrah’s Story’ in Beverly Hills last night where the documentary’s producer and friend Alana Stewart also attended.  The documentary airs tomorrow.
