Gene Simmons finally made an honest woman (I really hate that expression I'm not sure why I'm using it) out of Shannon Tweed by marrying her Saturday after being together for 28 years and having 2 kids together.

The couple married in front of 400 family and friends (and cameras for their reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels) at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Gene's cold feet was for nothing after all:

"It was a great evening of music and fun," Simmons told PEOPLE about last Saturday's ceremony. "I look at my wedding band and think, 'What was I afraid of all this time?' "

It took 28 years to get Gene Simmons 62 and Shannon Tweed 54 to get married, but the couple finally tied the knot on Saturday (October 1) at the Beverly Hills Hotel in front of 400 guests that include the likes of Hugh Hefner, members of the KISS band and Bill Maher.

The couple wrote their own vows and the ceremony included their kids Nick 22 and their daughter Sophie 19 who also served as Maid of Honor.  Sophie sang Etta James' At Last as their first dance. 

The ceremony will take place on Gene Simmons Family Jewels on October 18.

KISS rocker Gene Simmons 62, is FINALLY making an honest woman out of his Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed 54, after being together since 1983 (28 freaking years!) and having two children together: Nick, 22 and Sophie, 19 .

The kids got together and created their wedding invitation which is both sarcastic and lovely:

“After 28 years of loose strings, our parents have finally decided to tie the knot.”

“Our mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name and our father’s life … well, it doesn’t change that much.”

And the lovely part:

“But we will be united as a family in spirit and in title forever.”

I think that’s very sweet, although regardless of a wedding ceremony they would have been family in spirit forever. Shannon has been wanting to get married FOREVER, but Gene was very gun-shy about the whole ordeal. They will finally become man and wife on October 1 at the posh Beverly Hills Hotel assuming Gene doesn’t scurry away like a little sissy-bitch.

They request that ‘classy cocktail attire’ be worn but they fully expect ‘Rockstar attire will be worn’.

It’s really kind of cool to have the adult children part of the wedding-planning process!

Are Shannon Tweed and Gene Simmons done with their relationship? Some are suggesting so based on the premiere of the new season of Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels.

The Playboy Playmate and Kiss lothario are doing the rounds promoting their reality show and visited Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford on the Today Show where they admitted their relationship of 28 years has ‘unraveled’.

Shannon looked quite miffed during the interview and it looked tense on set, but one has to wonder if that is for promoting the show or what.

While I detest Gene Simmons’ need for having women hang off of him everywhere he goes (that gets real old real fast), Shannon has known he was like this since the beginning. I’ll give Gene credit in that he didn’t lie. However now that the kids are in college and out of the nest, I guess Shannon is realizing she gave this douche the best years of her life. Why she hung around I’ll never understand, but it’s never too late.

CNN host John D. Roberts was inducted into the Canadian Music & Broadcast History Hall of Fame and joining him in the festivities were Lawrence Gowan, Randy Backman and Gene Simmons.

I remember when J.D. Roberts (as he was called) was on Much Music way back when.  He’s done very well for himself!
