Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong sat down with Details Magazine and dished on his political views, the future of the Broadway show American Idiot, and how being a father to a sixteen year old boy makes this 39-year old feel old:

DETAILS: You’ve said that, prior to recording the album American Idiot, you came to New York and did a lot of partying. Did you think about that while playing the drug-pushing character St. Jimmy?
Billie Joe Armstrong: That’s more the main character, Johnny—going from being a big fish in a small pond to swimming with sharks. I had a tendency in my past to get caught up in partying too much or making bad decisions. Stealing a limo from David Letterman during the Insomniac tour—I got into a little bit of trouble. In 2003, I ended up in jail with a DUI, and I definitely regret that.

On the risk of being too political: “It dawned on me at the end of the last tour that things had become heavy.  It’s a f**king balancing act, man.  And you don’t want to always write about politics just for the sake of writing about politics.  I don’t want to become Rage Against the Machine. Bono is having lunch with George Bush to get money from him. I don’t operate that way. I stick to my opinions.”

On today’s political climate: “The Democrats are a bunch of f**king pussies.  It was so smart for the Republicans to embrace the Tea Party: ‘We don’t believe everything you say, but we’ll listen to you.’ I get more confused every day.  Then I feel like I’m not doing enough.  It starts to make my head explode.  Maybe I should go talk to the troops in Afghanistan.”

On Sarah Palin: “I listen to the shit that comes out of her mouth, and I’m just in awe.  These are Sunday-school teachers becoming politicians.  Mike Huckabee? He’s the guy that diddled you while holding the Bible.  He’s so soft-spoken, so Mr. Rogers.  Palin is the same—it’s this sneaky way to make Americans feel comfortable, but you know they’re rotten to the core.”

The Green Day musical, ‘American Idiot’, is holding auditions in Toronto it has been announced. Dancap Productions announced the open casting call will take place March 26.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool, and Mike Dirnt proudly opened the New York play in April of 2010 which is based on their tremendously successful album of the same name from 2004. The show has received tremendous praise in New York since its opening.

I can only hope that the boys from Green Day will be spending some time in Toronto for this and definitely for the opening. This is one show to see.

Fresh off of their Tony Award performance Green Day’s Mike Dirnt, Billie Joe Armstrong, and Tre Cool rock the crowd at the Lancashire County Cricket Club in Manchester, England where some lucky bastard got to dive into the crowd.  It doesn’t look like a band member so I’m assuming it was a fan.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool, and Mike Dirnt attended the premiere of American Idiot the Broadway adaptation of their very successful 2004 album of the same name.

Although opening to mixed reviews, The New York Times’ Charles Isherwood says:

“American Idiot,” directed by Michael Mayer and performed with galvanizing intensity by a terrific cast, detonates a fierce aesthetic charge in this ho-hum Broadway season. A pulsating portrait of wasted youth that invokes all the standard genre conventions — bring on the sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll, please! — only to transcend them through the power of its music and the artistry of its execution, the show is as invigorating and ultimately as moving as anything I’ve seen on Broadway this season. Or maybe for a few seasons past.

Leona Lewis looks like a Holiday Barbie Doll with that dress and her teeny tiny waist.   Leona performed at the 2009 European MTV Awards as well as Shakira, Tokio Hotel and Katy Perry who changed outfits 12 times and ‘paid tribute to Liza Minnelli  German-based wartime movie classic Cabaret with a raunchy, speakeasy-style medley of tracks by Lady GaGa, Kings of Leon, Black Eyed Peas and David Guetta’.
