New Clips for Killer Elite!

New Jason Statham Pics from The Killer Elite

Killer Elite, director Guy McKendry’s macho-man extravaganza is the story of Danny Bryce (Jason Statham), a retired member of Britain’s Elite Special Air Service, who is forced into action when his mentor (Robert De Niro) is taken captive. His mission: kill three assassins dispatched by their cunning leader (Clive Owen).

There’s a new clip that focuses on Statham as he attempts to free De Niro from his captors.  It’s the third clip and comes at around the 2:00 mark. We’ve seen the other three clips in this compilation, but who’s complaining?

There are a couple of recently unearthed behind-the-scenes clips featuring The Stath as well as De Niro and Owen going through their paces for director McKendry. Some cool looks at how stunts are performed as well:

Killer Elite opens in the US and the UK on September 23.

New Stills featuring ‘The Stath’ in Safe!

First Poster for Jason Statham's Safe!

“Sometimes a chance meeting can save your life.”

Last month we brought you a first look at the poster and now there are a few new stills for Boaz Yakin’s Safe, starring that stubble-covered hunk of testosterone, Jason Statham.

The official Lionsgate synopsis: “Mei (Catherine Chan) is a 10 year-old Chinese math prodigy who is abducted from her home in Nanjing by the Triads; she is sent to America by the Triad Leader Han Jiao (James Hong), where she will serve as a “counter” for their extortion racquets. No computers, no paper trails – she keeps all the numbers in her head. One year later, Mei’s new adopted “father” Chang (Reggie Lee) brings her along to count the numbers as he shakes-down his business operations.

Luke Wright (Jason Statham) is a second rate cage fighter in the mixed martial arts circuit in New Jersey. When he blows a rigged fight, the Russian mafia make an example of him – murdering his wife and threatening to kill anyone he forms any kind of friendship or relationship with. Now homeless, destitute and completely isolated from society, Luke wanders the streets of New York like a ghost, hovering on the edge of suicide.

Big things begin to stir in the city, when Triad boss Han Jiao appears in New York, and gives Mei a secret number to memorize; on her way to use this number for an unknown purpose, Mei is violently kidnapped from the Triads by the Russian Mafia, who want the information she now has in her head— as does the corrupt Captain Wolf (Robert John Burke) of the NYPD. Mei manages to escape, but she won’t be able to survive on her own for long.

Standing on a subway platform ready to throw himself under a train, Luke Wright sees the young and terrified Chinese girl being pursued by Russian thugs… he knows something is wrong, and he knows now he has to make a decision: continue on his downward spiral, or come back fighting in order to help a little girl he’s never even met. Luke comes back to life, forcing himself into violent action, and over the course of one harrowing night he tears a swath through the city’s underworld in order to save Mei’s life and redeem his own.”

Well! That sounds like fun! Seriously, there are so many triggers in those paragraphs I don’t even care what it’s about as long as ‘The Stath’ is involved and gets to be all…’Stath-y’. Do you? Didn’t think so.

Here’s the bad news. Lionsgate had originally scheduled this for a late October release, but it was just announced, due to their already packed fall slate (so packed they had to pass on domestic distribution of Marc Forster’s Machine Gun Preacher to Relativity), they are pushing it back to March 2, 2012. Well, at least it’s not the dreaded January so they must still have some faith in it and just don’t want it to get lost. That and so we don’t go into Stath overload. Killer Elite comes out two weeks before the original Safe date. (Too much hotness all at once and we become immune. We don’t want an recurrence of ‘Gerard Butler syndrome’.  Remember when he had three films come out within weeks of each other? The press and the public are fickle. They can turn on you…*snaps fingers* like that.  BTW-I told you all roads lead to G. Believe me yet?)

Int’l Poster Plus Jason Statham and Clive Owen Talk About Killer Elite!

Int'l Poster Plus Jason Statham and Clive Owen Talk About Killer Elite!

Along with the new International poster, we have a couple of short interviews for the upcoming action-adventure/spy drama Killer Elite. Didn’t I tell you this stuff was going to climb flying at us? (I saw a standee for K.E. at the theater yesterday when I saw The Debt and I got all excited!) Jason Statham, who brought his stubble, and Clive Owen, who brought the evil ‘tache, sat down to talk about making the film and working with first time director Guy McKendry and, of course, acting royalty Robert De Niro.

I know I’m not supposed to think this when looking at Jason Statham, but he is absolutely adorable when he smiles. In this clip he talks about his character, Danny Bryce, working with De Niro, working with the director, training for the role and the film’s story:

…and I could listen to Clive Owen talk for hours. Love that deep, rumbling voice. (He used to be #1 on my List of 5 Freebies until…well, you can guess…) In the first clip, Owen speaks to what attracted him to the project, his character, Spike, preparing for the role and the fight sequences.

In the second, he talks about working with Guy McKendry, what the film is about and who the “Feather Men” are:

Killer Elite opens everywhere September 23. Hopefully we’ll get a verdict from Fearless Leader after she sees it at TIFF!

Fast and Furious Clip from Killer Elite!

New Trailer for Killer Elite!

Killer Elite, Guy McKendry’s high-octane, adrenaline pumping, testosterone fueled extravaganza starring His Stubbleness, Jason Statham, Robert DeNiro and Clive Owen and his evil ‘tashe, is just over the horizon at this point so expect the clips to come at us fast and furious from now until September 23.

This clip, called “Pronto”, is perfect. It gets us going with a high speed car chase and then cuts out just when you want to know what happens next.”Always leave ‘em wanting more.” (That was either Walt Disney or P. T. Barnum. It’s a mystery. Either way it fits.)

Based on a true story, Killer Elite follows Danny Bryce, a former member of Britain’s Elite Special Air Service, who is called out of retirement when his mentor (De Niro) is taken hostage. His assignment is to find and kill three assassins sent by their “cunning leader”, Spike (Owen). Spike’s a good name for someone with that ‘tashe.

By the way, our fearless leader gets to see this at TIFF and I am PEA GREEN with envy! The rest of us plebes will have to wait until Killer Elite opens on September 23 in the US and the UK.

First Poster for Jason Statham’s Safe!

First Poster for Jason Statham's Safe!

This day needs more Jason Statham. This is the first poster to Boaz Yakim’s Safe, in which our man Jason stars as a “former elite agent {who} endeavors to rescue a twelve year old girl.”  Hmmm…weren’t we just talking about the recent plethora of films with similar plots? I was on the other side of the argument earlier but this does sound a lot like The Expatriate, at least on the surface. I also suspect Safe came first since it’s already in the can and will be released October 28.  But seriously, what is the deal with all of these “former agents” running around loose? Did they all up and quit en masse? I think there need to be some management changes at these nebulous “agencies”. And why are there so many adolescent girls in need of rescue? And we have no idea why the one in Safe needs it either, but she’s got The Stath looking out for her so I think she’ll be alright. Just a hunch.

Written by the director Boaz Yakin (Fresh, A Price Above Rubies, Remember the Titans), Safe costars Chris Sarandon (score! He doesn’t work nearly enough), James Hong, Robert John Burke and Anson Mount.

Oh, by the way, why did no one tell me ‘The Stath’ lent that whiskey, cigarettes and gravel voice to Gnomeo and Juliet?! Sheesh!

New Clips from Killer Elite!

New Clips from Killer Elite!

It seems like it’s been awhile since we had any news of the Jason Statham/Robert De Niro/Clive Owen testosterone fest, Killer Elite. Perhaps it’s just been overshadowed by the more high-brow fare coming down the chute for festival season. In any case, we’ve got two new clips to share and trust me, you are gonna want to see these.

The first one gives us ‘The Stath’ chatting to (or is it chatting up?) Yvonne Stahovski (“Chuck”) then exercising his rights of pure macho manliness. Love the way his eyes go from soft to alert in a flash when he hears the gunfire. I also love the way he wraps that arm around Yvonne and pulls her close, like “mine”, without having to say it.

The second clip features Statham doing a couple of the other things he does best: running while looking menacing and brandishing a gun. I’m not sure who they’re chasing or why but I intend to see the movie and find out.

In case you missed it, Killer Elite follows a retired member of Britain’s Elite Special Air Service (Statham) who is forced into action when his mentor (Robert De Niro) is taken captive. His mission: kill three assassins dispatched by their cunning leader (It’s not right, how much I love that phrase – especially when associated with Clive Owen). It also stars Dominic Purcell, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Grant Bowler, Michael Dorman, and Ben Mendelsohn.

Killer Elite muscles its way into theaters in the UK, US & Canada on 23 September.

Jason Statham in Blitz! (VIDEOS)

Jason Statham in Blitz!

Okay, apparently a third trailer for Jason Statham’s latest portrayal of a cockney hard man, Blitz. My first thought is why the hell didn’t I know about this? Blitz is based on the novel of the same name by Irish novelist and one of my all time favorite writers, Ken Bruen. The fact that it’s been filmed, with THE STATH no less, has me doing the demented poodle dance!

Statham plays DS Tom Brant a cop who is both brilliant and psychotic. Blitz follows Brant’s south-east London police squad (Paddy Considine as Porter Nash and Zawe Ashton as WPC Falls) already suffering collective burnout from tragic deaths, bad habits, anger management issues and the wrong kind of friendships. Then a serial killer, nicknamed ‘The Blitz’ (Aiden Gillen- Littlefinger in “Game of Thrones” !!) and aiming for tabloid glory, starts killing cops. A reporter (Harold Dunphy played by David Morrissey) thinks he’s on to the story of the decade and the police and the press both race to find the killer first.

The rest of the cast includes Richard Riddell as PC McDonald (not familiar with his work, but from the pics I was able to find, in my opinion he’s not nearly good looking enough to be McDonald. We’ll see) Luke Evans (The Three Musketeers) as DI Stokes and in a bit of truly inspired casting, Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn GirlAngels and Insects) as DCI Roberts, Brant’s superior and uneasy ally and tentative friend. Blitz comes at the midpoint in the Brant series of books, so I’m hoping there will be more. It opened in the UK in May 2011 with no US release listed. Now there are conflicting reports: TheFilmStage is saying the movie is going  straight to DVD and Blu-Ray on August 23, while Movie Web claims that’s the date of a theatrical release. I’ll update you as I get more info. In the meantime, check out these trailers and a short interview with Aiden Gillen!

Jason Statham hotness after the break. You best be seated.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Gets Her Sexy on for German GQ

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Gets Her Sexy on for German GQ

Holy sexiness. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley poses provocatively for the August 2011 German issue of GQ magazine in a position that I can’t help but admit Jason Statham has probably seen MANY times. Bitch. Ha! I’m kidding.

Seriously, this girl just oozes sex appeal. And I doubt the girl is even trying. She probably wakes up looking like that and that’s probably the look she gives Jason Statham. Who can blame her?

I feel bad for her because she got some very bad reviews for Transformers. Did you see it? Was she really that bad?
