Craig, Daniel Craig on the Cover of Empire!

Craig, Daniel Craig on the Cover of Empire!

This is exciting! Daniel Craig, looking very natty as James Bond, appears on a limited edition cover of Empire Magazine (in that Tom Ford suit he’s been running around London in. Wonder how many of those he has?). Actually the folks at Empire are celebrating the 50th anniversary of James Bond on film and the magazine takes a look at key moments in the character's past, including Golden Eye, Live and Let Die and On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Thanks to the mag, we have scans of some of the images, from Sam Mendes’ Skyfall, that appear inside.  Apparently there are new details about the plot of Skyfall  revealed in the accompanying article as well. Hopefully we’ll all know what those are very soon.

At this point, all we know is that Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Skyfall, which costars Dame Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ben Whishaw and Ola Rapace opens in the UK on 26th October and in the US on November 9.

Whoever He Is Ralph Fiennes Can Handle a Weapon! More Skyfall Images!

Whoever He Is Ralph Fiennes Can Handle a Weapon in Skyfall!

Apparently, Sony/Columbia wasn’t finished doling out the goodies yesterday when in my absolute haste to get them to you I posted those eight new pics from Sam Mendes’ Skyfall. Today we have nine more including a llook at Berenice Marlohe as Severine, Naomi Harris as Eve and much better look at Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory.  Rumors are certainly swirling around Fiennes’ character. One minute he’s a villain, another he’s a “double 0” agent, another he’s taking over for M. Could be a mix of all three. One thing is for certain, he knows how to handle a gun.

As I mentioned before, Sam Mendes as well as Sony/Columbia are certainly being generous with the behind-the-scenes stuff and yet it’s amazing how much they’ve still been able to keep under wraps.  Watch this space. I expect more to follow very soon, probably including another video blog.

Skyfall is set to open 26th October in the UK and November 9 in the US. This time out Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. The film stars Daniel Craig in his 3rd outing as Bond, Dame Judi Dench in her 7th appearance as M, Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Helen McCrory, Berenice Marlohe, Albert Finney and Ben Whishaw as Q.

New Looks at Daniel Craig Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes in Skyfall!

New Looks at Daniel Craig Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes in Skyfall!

Sony has sprinkled some new official images from Sam Mendes’ Skyfall all over the web today and you can see them below! Included in this batch is our first look at Ralph Fiennes, although it gives absolutely no clue as to his character (just looks like Ralph Fiennes…not that that’s a bad thing).

We’ve got the images courtesy of MI6 (via ComicBookMovie), and thanks to them we also have some thoughts from Javier Bardem on his character.

"It's cool, and the coolest thing and what's most important is the material. When I got it and saw the character, immediately you forget a little that it is a James Bond film and you realise that it is a great film and that's what attracted me. I said, "man this gives you a lot of possibilities". Obviously it's a James Bond film and it has everything you expect from a Bond film… there is a super-powerful story and a character with meat to put your teeth in and enjoy doing."

"I'm (sic) completely decided to give him {James Bond} a hard time and the truth is that I get to do it. Doing it in the set is a different thing [to reading it in a script]. The character puts Bond into some curious and interesting difficulties and one has to do it [for real], to give the idea that you are the villain. Otherwise there is no point in doing it. You have to put the actor in a difficult situation, that's the objective. In that sense Sam is helping a lot, he's an amazing director. And I'm delighted to be working with Daniel, he's a guy with balls, he's a really hard working guy, super-compromised with what he's doing. For him it's strenuous, six months of shooting every day, in addition with a lot of physical demand and the guy holds on super-committed."

You read the rest of the interview as well as watch a Spanish language video of the interview at the link.

More From the Set of Skyfall Including a First Look at Javier Bardem

The access we’ve so far been given to the behind-the-scenes of Skyfall, Sam Mendes’ now in production James Bond film, the 23rd in the franchise, has been unprecedented. Mendes and MGM too, probably think it’s better to join in and try to control the flow than be constantly swatting away pesky intruders or stemming the tide of bootleg information.

Whatever the reasoning, I’m certainly happy for the intel. I’m glad that most of the major plot points are still well hidden, despite guesses and suppositions by those piecing together unofficial glimpses and footage. I don’t want to get too spoilery about any of this, (and in fact there is a BIG spoiler rumor making the rounds. You can certainly find it if you wanted to) since it would be nice to actually have some surprises when I plonk down my cash and buy a ticket to the thing, but there is a bit of news I can share.

First, there’s another video interview, this one courtesy of Entertainment Tonight (via Screenrant), with Daniel Craig and even a bit of Javier Bardem and Berenice Marlohe. Take a look:

Second, it seems a third sultry female has been signed to the film. Greek actress Tonia Sotiropoulou will join the cast in Turkey to film the opening sequence. Sotiropoulou had initially auditioned for the role that went to Marlohe, Severine.

Lastly, the bit of news that has me bouncing in my chair, we have an ETA on the first official trailer for Skyfall! The trailer will be attached to Men in Black III, which is a really good reason, if one is needed, to go see that movie when it comes out May 25 in the US and the UK.

Skyfall  sees Bond's loyalty to M (Dame Judi Dench) tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Skyfall has a screenplay by longtime Bond series writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Oscar-nominated John Logan (Hugo, Coriolanus) and Patrick Marber (CloserNotes on a Scandal). Add that to Oscar winner Mendes directing and the incredible cast that includes Craig, Dench, Bardem, Marlohe,  Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw and Helen McCrory and  there are plenty of reasons to think that this could be the best Bond yet, which would serve as a fitting 50th anniversary tribute.

Watch: The Women of Skyfall Speak!

Watch: The Women of Skyfall Speak!

To start your Friday off right, some news on the Skyfall front. I would have maybe preferred that it be a slo-mo clip of of Daniel Craig emerging from the sea in those blue trunks, but what’re ya gonna do?

Last month we were treated to the first in a series of planned behind-the-scenes video blogs offering us an inside look at the filming of Skyfall. Director Sam Mendes kicked us off and today we have Naomie Harris, who plays Eve, another agent, and not, as had been wildly speculated, Miss Moneypenny.  Miss Moneypenny never got to play with the toys, let alone the artillery that Eve will be wielding. Take a look:

We also have, from 007.com, a mini-featurette with Berenice Marlohe. It’s the first time I’ve heard this Bond girl speak. Up til now I’ve only seen her standing around looking gorgeous. I'm sure she's a fine actress though…

It’s about time for some Daniel Craig set pics, dontcha think? If not the blue trunks, may I request another Tom Ford suit?? Maybe with some more Javier Bardem? How about some Ralph Fiennes, we haven't had any Ralph Fiennes yet. Hello? Anyone listening? Bueller…

Skyfall opens 26th October in the UK and November 9 in the US. (There’s a countdown clock on the official site if you’re into such things.)

More From the Set of Skyfall Including a First Look at Javier Bardem

More From the Set of Skyfall Including a First Look at Javier Bardem

When it rains it pours…

It was just yesterday that we gave you your first glimpse in weeks of Daniel Craig as 007 on the set of Sam Mendes' Skyfall. James Bond was running around the streets of Whitehall in London, looking rather worse for wear, that nice Tom Ford suit all covered in dust. I mentioned something about the fact that it looked like they were filming a traffic jam. Looks can be deceiving since there was apparently much more going on than that.

*Possible Spoilers. Go no further if you don't want to know anything about the plot.*

It seems that we have (thanks to BleedingCool for the heads up) our first look at at Javier Bardem as Skyfall's baddie. We don't know his character's name or exactly what he's up to, but we do know that Bardem wears at least one disguise, that of a blonde policeman, per the pics below.

We'll keep you posted. More as we get it.

Oi! Get Outta the Street Ya Geezer! Oh It’s You Mr. Bond

Oi! Get Outta the Street Ya Geezer! Oh It's You Mr. Bond

Begging your indulgence, it’s been a slow news day and I’m operating on about four hours sleep (thanks to DST *shakes fist*) and I needed some of this…

We have some more shots of Daniel Craig on the streets of London as he continues to film Skyfall (Bond 23) for director Sam Mendes. Cast and crew were back in Whitehall, near the Houses of Parliament, today filming what appears to be a  traffic jam. Exciting stuff! I don’t care. It’s Daniel Craig in a Tom Ford suit.

In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Skyfall stars, along with Craig, Dame Judi Dench returning as M, Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Ola Rapace, Helen McCrory and Albert Finney. It’s slated to be released 26th October in the UK and November 9 in the US. I can’t freakin’ wait! Enjoy the pics!

Sam Mendes Says Daniel Craig is a Real Man

Sam Mendes Says Daniel Craig is a Real Man

As promised, here’s the first video blog from Skyfall director Sam Mendes. Skyfall is currently shooting in London with Daniel Craig making his third outing as James Bond and Dame Judi Dench returning as M.

I actually wouldn’t call this a “video blog” at least how we’ve come to know them from Peter Jackson’s use of the term and the medium to document the making of The Hobbit films. There’s no footage of the actual film, none of Dench, and only a fleeting glimpse of Craig, no sneak peeks at Ralph Fiennes or Javier Bardem. It seems to be  more of a Mendes interview, in which he mentions his personal feelings about Bond and the legacy he’s been handed, as well as Daniel Craig as Bond in particular.

I’m making two assumptions based on this clip. One it’s probably only the start of updates we’ll be getting (that might be wishful thinking on my part), as I think Mendes has decided if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, or at least control the flow.  I also think this is probably part of a “making of” for the dvd release. We’ll see. I can’t think about dvd now. That’s a year away. I’m too excited for Skyfall’s theatrical release this fall.  Even though it’s still shooting, Skyfall hits theaters in the UK on 26th October and November 9 here on this side of the pond.

Enjoy the video. We also have a few more pics of filming in the past few weeks. (I'm kind of partial to the one at the top of the post. I'll let you figure out why.) More will surely follow.
