The Odd Life of Timothy Green is the latest live-action family film from Disney. I can’t even be cynical about this. Perhaps a more jaundiced eye than even I possess might find fault with this sweet tale of a happily married-yet childless- couple (played by the always likeable Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) who one night over a few glasses of wine write down all of the most admirable traits a child could have, put them in a box and bury it in the garden. Still with me? Lo and behold, the next morning they wake up to find that they’ve “grown a boy”.

 “Academy Award(R)-nominated director/writer Peter Hedges (“Dan in Real Life,” What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”) brings enchantment to the screen with “The Odd Life of Timothy Green,” an inspiring, magical story about a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton), who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim–and their small town of Stanleyville–learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.”

The cast also includes Rosemarie DeWitt, David Morse, Ron Livingstone, Common , Lois Smith, M. Emmet Walsh and Dianne Wiest. Timothy is played by Cameron ‘CJ’ Adams. The Odd Life of Timothy Green is set to be released in the US on  August 15 but no UK release date yet. Bit of trivia, the screenplay is from a story by Ahmet Zappa (son of Frank). Jennifer Garner has finally given birth (seriously lately she has been looking like she's ready to drop big time) and her and hubby Ben Affleck welcome a little boy in the world. You just know that sisters Violet 6 and Seraphina 3 are going to be the best big sisters and this little boy is going to have so much love and be doted on so much.

No word on the little boy's name or size upon birth but we do know he was born in Santa Monica.

Congratulations to the family on their new bundle of joy!

To be honest, these new images from Jim Field Smith's (She's Out of My League) latest, titled simply, Butter, aren’t all about Hugh Jackman but, I figured you could use a little Hugh to get your Hump Day started.

The first time I heard that someone had made a movie about a butter carving competition, I have to say I was skeptical. Since then I've heard nothing but good things, even if it wasn’t the phenomenon that Harvey Weinstein was hoping for.  It stars Jennifer Garner as over-achieving type A Laurie Pickler in a comedy set in the Midwest U.S., where an adopted girl (Yara Shahidi) discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman (Garner) in their town's annual contest.

The Weinstein Company launched a viral site where you can also view the clip below as part of a "campaign ad" for Laurie Pickler for Governor. Her slogan: "For the Little People", and  includes buttons for Laurie's Facebook and Twitter pages. Inspired marketing I must say, even if the hoped for comparisons to Michelle Bachman and or Sarah Palin are now moot.

Also starring Hugh Jackman, Ty Burrell, Olivia Wilde, Kristen Schaal, Ashley Greene, Alicia Silverstone, Rob Corddry, Phyllis Smith and Pruitt Taylor Vince,  Butter will be released March 16, 2012.

Jennifer Garner leads this week's Friday Fashionistas (and also becomes our very first mommy-to-be fashionista).  Jennifer was in Toronto this week at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) to attend the film premier of "Butter" at Royal Thomson Hall, in which she produces and stars.   Attending the red carpet event, Jennifer glows in a gorgeous pink-blush beaded Valentino frock with champagne Casadei  pumps.  Jennifer Garner and actor hubby, Ben Afleck, are expecting their third child in 2012.   They already have two girls, (and if it's another girl, I hope those extra bathroom plans are coming along well).   I ask you, is she one hot mommy-to-be or not? 

Also attending the "Butter" premier at T.I.F.F. this week was Olivia Wilde who co-stars with Jennifer Garner in the satirical comedy that takes place in small-town Iowa about the cut-throat competitive world of butter-carving.  (Now who would think that butter carving could be so competitive?)   In any event Olivia Wilde is a winner in this heavenly, white flowing Greek goddess style gown with gold jeweled embellishment from the Marchesa Resort 2012 collection.  I don't know about you, but I'll never look at butter the same way again!

Finally, but certainly not least, is singer and actress Ashlee Simpson as she makes her red carpet debut (with beau Vincent Piazza) at the NYC premier of "Boardwalk Empire".  (Personally, I think her new love life suits her very well.)   Gleaming in this burgundy, gold floral-sequined Temperley London Pre-Fall 2001 Collection gown with Anita Ko jewels, Ashley proves that vintage style is making a comeback.   Love this vintage look and Ashley wears it so elegantly!   What do you think?  To see more of it, temperleylondon.com.

In news that comes as a surprise to NO ONE, Jennifer Garner 39 and Ben Affleck also 39 announced via their representative that they are in fact expecting.

They simply said they were ‘thrilled’ to be expanding their family.

Baby number three will have Violet 5 and Seraphina Elizabeth Rose 2 as big sisters. No word on when the baby is due but she is definitely rocking a baby bump so one has to assume she’s out of her first trimester (the photo above was from mid-July)?

Ashley Greene aka Alice in The Twilight Saga, is the cover girl for Teen Vogue this month.  I absolutely adore her.  Yes, I think she is the perfect vampire and matches the book’s description to the ‘T.’

Anyhow, Ashley is in a new, non-vampire flick with Miley Cyrus, LOL. She talked to the mag about working with Miley,

“She’s young, but we could relate to each other because she’s probably been through as much as a 40-year-old!  Plenty of Disney kids are perfectly normal and love what they do. But you always hear about the people who aren’t doing well.  It’s kind of like the squeaky wheel.”

So what kind of role does Ashley play in the movie?

“I’m kind of like a bad girl in that film.  It’s a really big departure from Alice.  And as much as I love that character, I’m excited for people to see a bit of my range.”

She’s also in an upcoming comedy with Jennifer Garner and Olivia Wilde, Butter.

“It’s about butter carving, which, really, you have to Google. People take these huge chunks of butter, as tall as me, and carve intricate things into them; it’s mind-blowing,” she says. “I’d never heard of it when I read the script, and I remember asking my manager, ‘How do writers make this stuff up?’ But it actually exists.”

In this one she  plays a “typical rebellious teenager who goes from plain vanilla to basically being a stripper. It sounds ridiculous but it’s going to be really funny.”

I love it already.  I see a very big, long lasting career in front of Ashley and I am so excited for her.
