William Balfour Found GUILTY of Jennifer Hudson Family Murder

William Balfour Found GUILTY of Jennifer Hudson Family Murder

The jury has found William Balfour 31, GUILTY after three days of deliberations in the murder of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew.

Back on October 24, 2008 he flew into a jealous rage when Jennifer's sister (his estranged wife) Julia received a balloon gift that he thought was from her new boyfriend. The two were married in 2006 and separated in 2008 with reports of him stalking her regularly.

On that morning, he shot the mother,  Darnell Donerson, 57, in the back, then shot the brother, Jason Hudson, 29, twice in the head as he lay in bed. He took Julia's son and shot the boy several times in the head as he laid behind a front seat.  It sickens me to read that a person did that to an innocent child, to anyone for that matter, but especially to an innocent child.

He will receive a mandatory life in prison for these senseless crimes. Jennifer was in the courtroom when the verdict was read.

I hope this bastard rots in hell.

2012 Grammy Awards Pay Tribute To Whitney Houston

2012 Grammy Awards Pay Tribute To Whitney Houston

LL Cool J was the first host the Grammy's had seen in seven years and to say he did an excellent and appropriate job considering the very untimely death of singing legend Whitney Houston, would be an understatement. I will be honest when I heard he was hosting I didn't get too excited because in my mind hosts are usually comedians. But he proved me wrong in the biggest of ways.

The 2012 Grammy Awards were a very somber event this year with the passing of Whitney Houston only two days beforehand which changed the dynamic of the show completely. How do you throw together a tribute to such an iconic singer in such a short period of time? Well they did thanks in large part to LL Cool J and it was tasteful and eloquent at the same time. He led the audience in prayer at the beginning of the evening which for someone who isn't religious I thought was such a beautiful touching moment:

"There's no way around this," he said, addressing a silent crowd. "We've had a death in our family, and so at least for me, the only thing that feels right is to begin with a prayer for a woman we loved, for our fallen sister, Whitney Houston."

You could hear a pin drop in the crowd. Then of course there was Jennifer Hudson singing 'I Will Always Love You'. Kudos to her for being able to get through that entire song without breaking down.

And not to take anything away from Jennifer Hudson, but I couldn't do this post without including this stellar performance from 1994. This is the Whitney Houston I will always remember. RIP Whitney Houston.

Jennifer Hudson Rocks Thigh-High Boots at VH1 Divas PHOTOS

Jennifer Hudson RocksThigh-High Boots at VH1 Divas PHOTOS

Jennifer Hudson rocked some thigh-high boots at last night's VH1 Divas Celebrate Soul at the Hammerstein theatre in New York and I have to say she looks crazy sexy. That outfit says bend over and take it like a man, doesn't it? They are dominatrix like but with a softer side because they are pink and bedazzled.

She's worked so hard to lose her weight and she should show off that killer body.

Poster and Images for Winnie Starring Jennifer Hudson!

Poster and Images for Winnie Starring Jennifer Hudson!

A poster for Winnie, director Darrell Roodt's (Cry the Beloved CountrySarafina!) biopic of Winnie Mandela, former wife of the first black president of South Africa Nelson Mandela, has come online. Starring Jennifer Hudson as Winnie and Terrence Howard as Nelson, the film follows her from childhood through her husband's incarceration, focusing on their love story.

From The Guardian online: "… one can't help but wonder how much effect Winnie Mandela's attempts at blocking this film's release may have had. Did Roodt retreat from his original battle plan? His native acting union has also been up in arms, over an American playing their would-be queen. Yet Winnie is lent such a overly sympathetic ear, one can't help but wonder what all the fuss has been about."

Winnie debuted earlier this year in South Africa and then again at the Toronto Film Festival in mid-September. No  release date has been announced for the US although December 2011 is listed for Canada. (The film is a co-production of South Africa and Canada)  Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted

Is Jennifer Hudson’s Weight Loss A Problem?!

Jennifer Hudson is looking mighty fine these days.  After dropping 80 pounds, she is looks so different than when she first fell into the spotlight.

Behind The Scenes of Jennifer Hudson’s ‘Where You At’ Video

BUT, Jennifer’s fiancee, David Otunga isn’t the biggest fan of the new look.  Jay Leno asked Jen about it on his show Friday night,

“He’s getting adjusted to it,” Hudson, 29, said. “He’s not really into change that much.  He fusses at me like, ‘Why do you have to have to get all dressed up to go out and why can’t you just go our like you used to?’  And I’m like, ‘I’m a walking billboard now honey!”

It’s true though.  The critics eat you up if you don’t look your best at all times.  That’s what rags are all about, right?  I mean look at Britney Spears.  She looks horrible whenever she is out and about on a normal day.  But she cleans up nicely on stage…. you get my drift, right?

PHOTOS: 83rd Academy Awards – Red Carpet

full_oscar_arrivals_red_carpet

Let there be fabulous Oscar fashion … and so there was at last night’s 83rd Academy Awards in Los Angeles!!!

I’m not sure what the world waits for most – who receives an Oscar or who wore what?   But, if there’s one event where everyone wants to look great, it’s Oscar night and the stars proved it again.   So sit back, break out the bubbly (depending on your time zone) and let’s get this party started as the biggest stars sashay down the world’s most glamorous red carpet!

Firstly, I couldn’t help but notice a lesser amount of jewellery this year, which I found to be refreshing.   Don’t get me wrong.  A girl can never have enough bling-bling. However, the bauble trend was mostly earrings or a bauble here and a bauble there.

Two trends this year picked up on my fashion radar:  red and nude/blush.  Anne Hathaway definitely stands out on the red carpet in a red low-bustled, strapless Valentino Haute Couture gown.  And while  Sandra Bullock was a winner last year, she’s a winner again this year as one of the most elegant women of the night (are we surprised?) dazzling in her Vera Wang strapless red gown.

If great Oscar fashion is the culmination of many years of experience, then this ingenue has nailed it in one night.  Looking like she just stepped out of a fairy tale, princess-in-waiting  Hailee Steinfeld wowed us with her  blushed, tea-length Marchesa gown.   So age-appropriate for her and yet so elegant .   Another Marchesa and Oscar favourite, Halle Berry was stunning as always in a nude crystal-encrusted, ruffled gown.  Does she ever get it wrong?  (Maybe slightly last night, as the only accessory she was missing  … Olivier Martinez. )  It was also nice to see Mandy Moore striking a pose on the red carpet, also in a nude crystal-encrusted, Marchesa gown with train.  I believe this is the first time I’ve seen her at the Oscars, yet she looked like a seasoned pro.

And can you believe Celine Dion just gave birth to twins?  Girl, you have made Giorgio Armani proud in a creme-de-la-creme body hugging gown that most supermodels would run in fear from.  Isn’t black supposed to be slimming?  I mean, really!  How does she do it?   And Penelope Cruz, ditto to you girl!  Your red siren L’Wren Scott gown with flaming sequins sizzled all the way up the red carpet.  By the way, hubby Javier Bardem was looking most delicioso by your side.  (I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again.  I could listen to this guy talk Spanish to his cat all night.)

Let’s not forget the ladies of Black Swan, but black they definitely were not!  Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis danced into our hearts in shades of violet and lavendar.  Natalie draped her mommy-belly in a flowing, effortless violet Rodarte gown with Swarovski crystal beading  (I predict a little fashionista!), while Mila Kunis  dares us in a low-cut Elie Saab lavendar lace haute couture.

If there was ever a moment last night when it felt like the parting of the red sea – oops, I mean red carpet – it had to be when Nicole Kidman arrived in the most stunning Dior haute couture gown I have ever seen!  It was almost like announcing the Queen was in residence.  And that, my friends, she was.   Speaking of royalty, Dame Helen Mirren proves that sleeves are timeless in an elegant, yet fashionable, charcoal grey Vivienne Westwood number.  If she’s invited to the Royal Wedding this spring, I predict she’ll be the best dressed.

Understated elegance included Reese Witherspoon in Giorgio Armani  Prive with $1 million worth of Neil Lane baubles, which I couldn’t see.  But like I said, understated elegance.   Let’s not forget the women behind the men, as Melania Trump gives new meaning to the black dress.

All in all, it was a great night of fashion.  So … drum roll please!  For outstanding best dressed red carpet fashion, the nominees are:   Sandra Bullock, Hailee Steinfeld, Hallee Berry, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.  And the Oscar goes to … Nicole Kidman!

So what did you think of Oscar fashion?  Do you like our choices?  Did we miss anyone?  Let us know!

Lots of pictures after the break

This video is set to debut on February 24, but for now, you can enjoy this behind the scenes look:

What do you think of this American Idol alum?  It still makes me laugh that she didn’t win the show, but she’s got some of the biggest success out of all the alumni.

Jennifer Hudson Talks Big Time Weight Loss

Jennifer Hudson has lost a lot of weight since her days on American Idol.  And on top of all that, she had a baby!  Girl looks amazing!

Up until yesterday on Oprah, Jen kept her weight loss number to herself.  But you know that Oprah, she can get anything out of anyone!

“I’ve lost 80 pounds.  It’s like a brand new me. Sometimes I don’t even recognize myself!”

Jen went from a size 16 to a 6, which was her actual goal.

“That 4 and that 2 and that 0 is not for me.”

Jennifer has her latest album, I Remember Me coming out in March.  I can’t wait to hear what she’s come up with this time around.  Life changes bring on a whole new world of lyrics.

Jen also spoke of her murdered family,

“The only thing I can do to honor their memory is to make them proud,” Jennifer said of her loss, adding that the only way she was able to cope was with the help of “my family, my baby and God.”

Seeing her so happy and healthy is like a miracle.  After going through those kinds of tragedies, most people would go off the deep end.  But she is a very strong woman.
