SNL’s 100th Digital Short: Bieber, Timberlake, Natalie Portman & More

SNL's 100th Digital Short: Bieber, Timberlake, Natalie Portman & More

It was time to celebrate SNL's 100th digital shot this past weekend that saw Will Farrell as host and Usher as the musical guest.

The celebration saw Justin Bieber get in on the action and the return of none other than Justin Timberlake, Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Michael Bolton and some Usher. The theme? Self-gratification, of course.

The brains behind the hilarious digital shorts are Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone.  Schaffer was unavailable but Bieber stepped in to do the honors.

More Confirmation of Double Standards in the Battle of the Sexes: New Clip from Friends with Kids

Posters: The Avengers, Mirror Mirror, Innkeepers, Friends with Kids, Silent House, Prometheus

Maybe I’m just in a weird mood because it’s Friday, but this clip from Jennifer Westfeldt’s Friends with Kids is the funniest thing I’ve seen yet from this film.

It could be because I think Chris O’Dowd is just inherently funny. I do like Maya Rudolph as well, but O’Dowd just has that goofy, teddy-bear thing happening, no matter what’s coming out of his mouth.

In any case, the clip features O’Dowd and Rudolph as married couple Alex and Leslie as they get ready for bed. They’re having a discussion about whether or not they know anyone suitable for their friend Julie (Westfeldt). While I, of course, disagree with Alex’s conclusion, it is an interesting window into how men think. Not that it’s big news, more like confirmation.  (I’ll bet 38 and 32 is still hot when it’s the other way around, huh Alex? *raspberries*)

Friends with Kids with Westfeldt, O’Dowd, Rudolph, Adam Scott, Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, Edward Burns and Megan Fox is out today in the US, but not until 29th June in the UK.

New Images from Friends with Kids Making Case for Celibacy

New Images from Friends with Kids Making Case for Celibacy

We have some great new images from writer/director Jennifer Westfeldt’s Friends with Kids with Adam Scott, Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph, Chris O’Dowd, Megan Fox, and Edward Burns.

We’ve gotten trailers (including  a red-band) and posters for the film  being parsed out a bit at a time since its debut last fall at the Toronto Film Festival.

The synopsis:

“A close-knit circle of friends are at that moment in life when children arrive and everything changes. The last two singles in the group observe the effect that kids have had on their friends’ relationships and wonder if there’s a better way. They decide to have a kid together – and date other people.”

Westfeldt is extremely talented. She also comes across as very “nice”. She and Jon Hamm comprise one of the most stable and longest running showbiz relationships and seeing them on red carpets together is always fun. I genuinely hope that fact that she’s gathered her friends together to make this movie means that it’s worthy of their collected talents and we haven’t seen all the best bits in the trailers.

Friends with Kids opens in the US on March 9, but not until 29th June in the UK.

Red Band Trailer for Friends with Kids Reveals Why Christy Turlington is Always Smiling

Posters: The Avengers, Mirror Mirror, Innkeepers, Friends with Kids, Silent House, Prometheus

About a month ago we showed you the first trailer for a new movie: Friends with Kids, written, produced and directed by Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica SteinIra and Abby). It’s a topical adult comedy about two best friends Westfeldt and Adam Scott) who decide to have a child together while keeping their relationship platonic, so they can avoid the toll kids can take on romantic relationships.  I liked that first trailer. I didn’t love it. (It felt like a Saturday Night Live skit drawn out to feature length.) Now we have a red band trailer that gives us a taste of the “adult” in the phrase, adult comedy. It's actually pretty tame. (The red-band for Bridesmaids was wilder.) There’s a lot of “sex” talk, that while not graphic is explicit. (I’m also wondering who exactly has conversations like that. Is this what’s going on between thirty-forty somethings in chic UWS apartments these days? Damn it. I miss everything.)

Costarring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Chris O’Dowd and Jon Hamm (Westfeldt’s real-life partner, these two are one of the longest running ‘non’ marriages in Hollywood and certainly one of the best looking couples to ever grace a red carpet), -basically, the cast of Bridesmaids with Westfeldt and Scott thrown in. Oh yeah…and Megan Fox and Ed Burns, Friends with Kids has a lot of serious talent involved. Along with Westfeldt, also wearing producer’s hats are Jake Kasdan and Mike Nichols. Friends with Kids debuted at TIFF last fall and opens wide in the US on March 9.

Miss Piggy Talks to the Stars on the BAFTA Red Carpet!

Miss Piggy Talks to the Stars on the BAFTA Red Carpet!

We brought you some great pics from last night’s red carpet in front of the 65th annual BAFTA  Awards and told you about Miss Piggy’s debut as a celebrity interviewer of celebrities, and apparently she was a big hit. We just found some footage and I have to share it with you.  Gary Oldman told her she was “the most sincere person I’ve met on this line so far”

Miss Piggy, who looked lovely in custom-made Louis Vuitton,  lined up a new film with Jessica Chastain (a “buddy comedy”), thought The Help was a remake of a Beatles movie (and told Octavia Spencer she was  a good Ringo) and talked, and shamelessly flirted, with the likes of Michael Fassbender and got flirted with by Jonah Hill, who demanded a kiss, and Adam Deacon who asked her for a date. Tom Hiddleston seemed genuinely, and very sweetly, star-struck.

Of course La Porker, whose real name is Pigathia although she told Daniel Radcliffe to call her “Miss”, saved her affections for Jon Hamm (even if she didn’t get the joke).

Enjoy the video!

Mad Men SPOILER ALERT

Mad Men SPOILER ALERT

If you are a fan of all things Don Draper (played by the delicious Jon Hamm) and Mad Men in general you will kind of die a little at the thought of this spoiler alert. I personally hope it DOESN'T happen because it's just kind of annoying.

TV Guide's William Keck spoke with Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner where they discussed the Season 5 March 25 two-hour premiere entitled 'A Little Kiss'. Remember how Don Draper was engaged to that new girl Megan? Well sometimes things aren't always meant to work out (ask Kim Kardashian). Weiner's statement may just knock your bobby socks off:

"Who says Megan's even going to be part of Don's life?" says Weiner. "He may be back with Betty. One of my favorite scenes from [last season's finale] was when Betty offered herself to him again. And let's face it — those two look really good together."

Would you be happy if Don and Betty (played by January Jones) got back together? Please dear god NO. She is SO annoying what without having any personality and stuff. Don Draper needs his sexual equivalent to really steam the screen up.

Usually Weiner is very tight-lipped about the script so perhaps he's just teasing us with such cruelty?

New Year, New Movie: Friends with Kids with Jon Hamm!

New Year, New Movie: Friends with Kids with Jon Hamm!

New Year, new movies: Friends with Kids, directed by Jennifer Westfeldt is a topical adult comedy about two best friends Westfeldt and Adam Scott) who decide to have a child together while keeping their relationship platonic, so they can avoid the toll kids can take on romantic relationships.  How very 2012 of them. Seriously, I think every single woman over 30 who really wants to have a child has thought about or had this conversation with a best friend. (The best friend is usually gay, but that’s another movie. Object of My Affection and The Next Best Thing spring to mind.)

Costarring Jon Hamm (Westfeldt’s real-life partner, these two are one of the longest running ‘non’ marriages in Hollywood and certainly one of the best looking couples to ever grace a red carpet), Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Chris O’Dowd, the cast is certainly likeable. You’ve loved them separately, you’ve even loved most of them together, since this is essentially the cast of Bridesmaids with Westfeldt and Scott thrown in. Oh yeah…and Megan Fox.

I liked the trailer. I didn’t love it. It felt like a Saturday Night Live skit drawn out to feature length. That’s certainly been done before with mixed results. Written as well as produced and directed by Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein, Ira and Abby), I do think that Friends with Kids has the potential to land at the more successful end of the spectrum (Wayne’s World as opposed to Ladies Man). She’s got some heavy weights on board, with Jake Kasdan and Mike Nichols earning 2 of the many producer credits as well.

Friends with Kids debuted at TIFF last fall and opens wide in the US on March 9. (Well, we know I won’t be seeing it opening weekend, don’t we?*)

Check out the trailer below.

Jon Hamm To Direct Mad Men’s Season 5 Premiere

Jon Hamm To Direct Mad Men’s Season 5 Premiere

Mad Men is heading into Season 5 and Jon Hamm is set to direct the season premiere. He says of his behind-the-scenes directorial debut:

The wheels have officially been set in motion to make that happen “It’s a very exciting challenge that I’m looking forward to with a mixture of utter fear and excitement.”

He was inspired by his Mad Men co-star John Slattery who has in the past directed episodes and it has been:

“in the back of my mind” for a while now,” says Hamm. “It helps to have people you know and trust surrounding you. We’ve been fortunate enough to have very little turnover not only in our cast but in our crew.” “I watched Slattery do it, and he handled it with such grace and ability and ease,” he continues, before adding with a laugh, “I figured if he can do it, s–t, I can do it too.

Season 5 of Mad Men doesn’t hit our TVs until sometime in 2012 but something tells me it will be worth the wait.
