Well, they had to do something…

In all fairness, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences always puts out a teaser trailer to generate interest in the show. This year’s trailer just feels a little desperate, given all of the drama surrounding first the choice of Brett Ratner as one of the producers of the show, then Ratner’s choice of Eddie Murphy as host (an idea I was actually starting to warm to) then Ratner’s ouster for an (inevitable) ridiculous comment and Murphy then following him out the door.

Actually, I like the idea of Billy Crystal coming back for his ninth outing as host of the Academy Awards.  I also think that all things considered, this trailer is funny. But I have to wonder if it’s going to appeal to anyone not already looking forward to Crystal’s return.

While some are calling this thing hilarious and even “side-splitting”, both of which I think go too far, it is amusing. Produced in conjunction with Will Ferrell’s “Funny or Die” team, the trailer features Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel on the trail of someone known only as “The Host”. Charged with tracking  him down by William Fichtner, who is a pretty good ringer for telecast producer Brian Grazer, the duo encounter in their quest a bartender played by Vinnie Jones, Robin Williams’ Mongolian ferryman and references films like Indiana Jones and Kiss Me Deadly (the glowing briefcase-no Pulp Fiction did not do it first.)

I’d be watching on February 26 even if Uggie the dog (from The Artist) was hosting, as I’ve said, it’s my High Holy Day, but I am looking forward to Crystal’s opening song.

Last night, Fergie was honored at Billboard’s 5th Annual Women In Music awards at The Pierre Hotel in New York City with Billboard’s Woman of the Year Award.

She was obviously very proud of this great milestone in her career,

“I am humbled and excited to accept the Billboard Woman of the Year Award,” Fergie says. “Being honored by Billboard is a great career achievement.”

I have great respect for Fergie as an artist and a woman.  She’s beyond fabulous on the music front.  But her girl power is ridiculous, in a very good way.

The bumps in the road she faced with her man meat of a husband, Josh Duhamel and the fact they are still looking at each other like that (below), well, she’s amazing.

What’s not so hot or amazing are her scary claws.  Those are the worst kind of faux nails and well, I despise them.  Other than that, Fergie is the woman!

Is it me or were there no dresses that really stood out last night as being over the top gorgeous?  I liked Nicole Kidman’s dress and I thought Taylor Swift’s was very flattering for her, but aside from that I don’t think the dresses were all that stunning, I’m sorry to say.  So what to do but put Lady GaGa and her very different style as the main picture?

Did you watch the Grammy’s last night?  Which performances stood out for you?  I loved Beyonce’s, Pink’s and the tribute to Michael Jackson.   Did you have your 3D glasses??  I thought the Elton John and Lady GaGa performance was pretty cool as well.

Kristen Bell strikes a pose on the red carpet of the Los Angeles premiere of When in Rome, a romantic comedy that costars Josh Duhamel and opens in theatres tomorrow.  The trailers look good but then again it is starring Kristen Bell and who can’t help but love the movies she stars in?  Josh and Kristen seem to have great on-screen chemistry in the movie.  I love the scene with the vase that won’t break! Will you go and see it?

On their one year wedding anniversary, Fergie and husband Josh Duhamel renewed their vows on a cliff-top in Santa Barbara where they and the minister were the only ones in attendance.

They took a private helicopter to Santa Barbara where they were met with a limousine that took them to the nearby Bacara Resort to their awaiting minister on the cliff.  This sounds like something out of a romance novel, doesn’t it?  A source told RadarOnline.com:

“They were both dressed nicely and walked right out to the bluff outside the hotel where weddings often take place,” “A minister was waiting for them. Fergie was crying and seemed very emotional.”

The 15 minute ceremony ended with the two of them going to the restaurant for a romantic dinner:

“They had the whole restaurant to themselves and left before the first customers came in.”

Josh told Entertainment Tonight that this will be an annual thing:

“She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me,”  ”We want to renew our vows every year. We got the idea from Heidi Klum and Seal, they do that and she said, ‘I want to do that.’ I thought it was a great idea.”

I have got to have more testosterone coarsing through my cold-hearted body than the average girl because this just does not appeal to me at all.  Josh also joked about her wearing a wedding dress to their second ceremony last Wednesday:

“It was a little emasculating but whatever makes her happy”

Considering the rumours of his infidelity she has had to tolerate, I’d say being emasculated is the least of this dude’s worries. I’m just saying.

Stacy ‘Fergie’ Ferguson and husband Josh Duhamel make their way to Land Shark Stadium to watch the Miami Dolphins play the Pittsburgh Steelers, where Fergie also performed.  Part owners Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Gloria and Emilio Estefan also attended, as well as Serena Williams, Brandy and Robin Givens.

Jennifer and Marc recently sold their BelAir mansion for $7.5 Million after knocking $1 Million off the price tag as it sat on the market for over a year.   The house was purchased in 2005 for $6.25 Million.

All the ladies of ‘Nine’ at last night’s New York premiere looked gorgeous, but I have to say Stacy ‘Fergie’ Ferguson looks like a Grecian Goddess.  Here she is posing with co-star Kate Hudson and Kate’s mother Goldie Hawn.  Goldie Hawn also looks incredible.

And if you wondered how that many women got along in one room:

“There was a lot of oestrogen in one room. It was fun, I liked it. We had a two month rehearsal process. We shot two scenes right at the beginning where we were all together, the overture and finale, so we spent quite a bit of time together. It took two weeks to rehearse. It was definitely very girly for everyone. We’ve all known each other and seen each other around before, but to really work with people you admire, it was just great.“
