This Week’s Fabulous Fashionistas: Demi Lovato, Ginnifer Goodwin & More

There's only one way to kick off award season, and Demi Lovato showed everyone how. The singer was the queen of the red carpet at the 2012 People's Choice Awards in L.A. on Wednesday, January 11 and looked like a Hollywood goddess as she wore a strapless peach, bejeweled Marchesa Resort 2012 gown. The dress hugged her in all the right places and the long train added just the right amount of drama for a stunning finishing touch. Demi completed her look with a soft swept up do, simple make-up and a Marchesa turquoise and pearl encrusted clutch. Well done!

Also attending the 2012 People's Choice Awards was Ginnifer Goodwin who knocked it out of the ball park (or should we say, off the red carpet) in one of the hottest shades of pink in this mid-length 'Margot' dress from Roksanda Ilincic Spring 2012 collection. The bell style sleeves give this dress a fun sixties-inspired look that even Twiggy would have approved of. For the finishing touch, Ginnifer rocked it in a pair of black mesh Jimmy Choo 'Kyrle' platform ankle booties from the Fall/Winter 2011 Collection adorned with exquisite crystals, along with a Kzeniya clutch and Van Cleef and Arpels jewels. Definitely, one of my favourite looks of the night!

Looking anything but her disorganized television persona 'Penny', Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco brought the glamour to the red carpet at the 2012 People's Choice Awards in a dazzling floor-sweeping nude gown from the Badgley Mischka Spring 2012 collection. The gown features a delicately embroidered floral and jewel embellished pattern on silk organza throughout the dress and just the right length of train. I would have preferred lighter on the make-up. But, nevertheless, I love how Kaley wore her hair in a teased 60s-inspired bouffant letting her soft waves fall around her shoulders. Overall, a great look!

And now for something completely different! Singer/actress Miley Cyrus combined futuristic and sophistication mixed in with a bit of fun and came up with what I believe is one of her best red-carpet looks yet. Miley turned heads in a David Koma Spring 2012 dress at the 2012 People's Choice Awards that featured avant-garde lines with mesh panels combined with soft draping and coloured embellished trim. All of which, presents a very fashion forward statement from Miley, who has come a long way from her Disney teen queen years.

Looks can be deceiving, but in the very best of ways! Dancer/actress Julianne Hough cuts a stunning silhouette in a silver knee-length dress that while covered modestly the front, showed off a very sexy back. (And although the back seems dangerously low, I am relieved to see the mesh insert holding it all together.) Julianne is no stranger to backless dresses as she knows what works for her. All those years of competitive and professional dancing have obviously paid off for her. While Julianne shot to fame as one of the professional dancers on Dancing with the Stars, she has branched into acting, starring in films such as Burlesque alongside Cher and Christina Aguilera and in the 2011 remake of Footloose. This year, Julianne will be starring in the upcoming Rock of Ages alongside Russell Brand and Tom Cruise. Oh, and here's something I bet you didn't know. Julianne's first role was in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone where she appeared in an uncredited role as a Hogwart's schoolgirl. Surprise!

Model Miranda Kerr celebrates her role as the new Qantas Airways Ambassador at the Qantas Airways Spirit of Australia Party held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood California, on January 12. Wearing an arabesque, cap-sleeve Georges Chakra Couture red sequin dress, Miranda was the toast of the red carpet. Miranda completed her look with Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps, earrings by Tresor, hair pulled back and a pair red hot lips that at the very least rival her dress. I bet ticket sales for Qantas have gone through the roof!

Actors and real-life partners, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt arrive at The 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala at the Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs, CA on January 7, where handsome Brad was being honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award for his work in the films, Moneyball and The Tree of Life. Angelina looked lovely in a putty-colored fan-pleated blouson jumpsuit by Elie Saab, while Brad was dashing as ever in Versace, with cane. Apparently, Brad injured himself when he fell while holding one of his twins. While I'm not suggesting he falls more often, if you ask me, the cane kind of adds a touch of class to the look. Don't you think?

Looking stunning as ever and also attending The 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival, is actress Charlize Theron. Charlize kept it simple, yet elegant in this little hot black number from Lanvin Spring 2012 by Alber Elbaz. The black crepe sheath features well padded shoulders and an enclosed slit on the side. Charlize paired her look with a simple Cartier yellow gold and black onyx panther bracelet and drop-style diamond earrings. Sometimes, even the most simplest of dresses and minimal amount of jewellery can result into the most elegant of attires.

Precious metals! Actress Michelle Williams attended the 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala where she was presented with the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her work in the movie My Week with Marilyn. Michelle was also at the top of her fashion game in a drop dead gorgeous champagne silk duchesse cocktail-length dress with crystal and pearl embellished bodice from Prada, complimenting her look with strappy metallic leather platform shoes also by Prada. The slight creases and crinkles of the skirt are part of what gives this dress its elegant character, as only a fabric as beautiful as silk can do that.

Not once, but twice do George Clooney and girlfriend Stacy Keibler draw aces and made a stunning pair when they turned up at events this past week. Firstly, at The 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival, on January 7 where George donned Versace and Stacy graced us in a black Alexander McQueen sleeveless dress with emphasized shoulder padding. And again on January 10 at the 2012 National Board of Review Awards gala in NYC where George received the Best Actor award for The Descendants. George wore a Versace tuxedo (they don't call him Gorgeous George for nothing) and his lovely lady sparkled in a stunning black Marchesa gown with a jewel embellished neckline and shoulders. Stacey has come a long way from her wrestling days and her appearance on ABC's Dancing With The Stars where she was dubbed a "weapon of mass seduction" by judge Bruno Tonioli. So it's clear to see why she made it all the way into the arms of one of the most eligible bachelors on the planet.

Another couple also cutting a stunning silhouette on the red carpet are actor Jon Hamm and his girlfriend, actress and screenwriter, Jennifer Westfeldt when they attended the 50th Anniversary Celebration for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on January 7. Not sure who the designer of her gown is and quite frankly, it doesn't matter. The strapless gown is gorgeous and has a lace overlay cinched at the waist with a silk ribbon with diminutive tiers of organza at the bottom. Don't they make a lovely couple?

Proving that you don't have to don a gown to look great on the red carpet is Angelina Jolie when she attended the 77th Annual New York Film Critics Circle Awards Gala in NYC. Angelina was perfection in head-to-toe Salvatore Ferragamo in this black leather skirt, white silk blouse, and black leather pumps, a look which could very well earn her the award for the hottest secretary on earth! (Just sayin'.) Nevertheless, she is stunning no matter she wears. Oh … and it doesn't hurt to have an emerald this size dangling around your neck either or the matching earrings to boot.
That's it for another week! Next week, I'll be reporting on the 2012 Golden Globes as well as my regular post. Until then, lots of love and peace.
