Lee DeWyze took the top honour in Season 9 of American Idol beating out fierce competitor Crystal Bowersox. He was really overcome by emotion when his name was announced breaking down in tears.
Paula Abdul came back to see Simon off as it was his last show.

How cute is that? American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi was proposed to with both candles and her pyjamas on.
The 38-year old judge was proposed to on her birthday in December:
“I was in, of course, my thermal smiley-face pajamas that one of my best friends gave me for Christmas,”
He lit the candles and:
“He said, ‘I have a question: Do you know where my shoes are?’”
She admitted she didn’t know and to which he then said:
“He said, ‘I have a question: Do you know where my shoes are?’”
She was hesitant to disclose her real occupation and when he found out he was concerned because she had a ‘hollywood life’. She reassured him:
“I have no Hollywood life, believe me,” she told him. “I’m working 18-hour days, going home and catching a Law & Order episode and calling him at night.”
The couple have been dating for about a year and a half.

That`s a bit surprising, isn`t it. Kara DioGuardi has been added as judge number 4 to American Idol`s Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson.
The show`s creator Simon Fuller:
“We are turning the heat up on Idol this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges’ table,”
He adds:
“She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America’s most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show,”
You are probably familiar with some of the 38 year old DioGuardi`s work: Co-wrote Celine Dion hits “Right In Front Of You” and “Sorry For Love.”, Kylie Minogue`s “Spinning Around “, Co-wrote and sang on Enrique Iglesias’s hit single “Escape.” and also on Celine Dion`s “One Heart“.
