Kate Beckinsale is stunning and sophisticated and very English, so who knew she was all about the penis? She appeared on Conan last night following her stint at the Golden Globes in which she presented with Seth Rogan who admitted to having a massive erection. She was so distracted by the comment she could barely compose herself.
Naturally her conversation with Conan led to discussing pee nie and how her family tradition is to arrange her mother's fruit bowl in the shape of penises so that her mother will remember her.
Then there is the time she snuck a vibrator into her mother's suitcase as she was heading off to the airport. This gives me a great idea for the next time me and my mom take a little trip, hehe.
Kate was visiting Conan to promote her film Underworld: Awakening which opens in theatres on Friday.

Sony Screen Gems is really promoting the hell out of the latest installment in the Underworld franchise. They’ve given us all manner of trailers and posters and clips for Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein’s Underworld: Awakening. The three new clips we have below are all short and sweet, but we get better looks at the big Super Lycan, as well as India Eisley’s Lycan/Vampire hybrid, Eve. We also get a closer look at Theo James (that’s Kemal Pamuk to all of us who are fans of Downton Abbey) as David, another ‘Deathdealer’.
Underworld: Awakening has brought back leather-clad Kate Beckinsale (with the gratitude of fan boys everywhere) as the leather-clad vampire Selene and the ad campaign has focused on her character so much that the actual title might as well be "Underworld: The Return of Selene", with the directors admitting that this new film’s ending "is totally leaving the door open for a future".
During an interview with Collider, Beckinsale was asked if she would considering doing another sequel.
“Speaking of sequels. Do you see how this can be the first for a new trilogy?
Beckinsale: I mean it could. I think they have left it relatively open ended. I am evidentially not to be trusted on the question of if there are going to any more. So don’t ask me. [laughs]
They said that it us up to you.
Beckinsale: They said it us up to me? That is called passing the buck.
[producer] Richard Wright said, “If Kate wants to do it then we will do more.” That what he basically said.
Beckinsale: That is actually not true.
I'm guessing we’ll have to see if this one makes any money first.
Underworld: Awakening opens in 3D as well as 2D, on January 20 in the US, the UK and Canada going up against Haywire, Coriolanus, Red Tails, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and We Need to Talk About Kevin. I realize that not all of those films share the same target audience, but why the hell didn’t a couple of them open THIS weekend (which is 3 days here in the US)? Just sayin’.

It was just a few days before Christmas that Screen Gems gifted Underworld fans with a bounty of new material for Underworld Awakening starring Kate Beckinsale, the next installment in the Lycans vs Vampires saga opening on January 20. The gift basket included a clip called Underworld Legacy, designed to catch up anyone unfamiliar with the series, the first tv spots and a brand new trailer (which is now showing in theaters in front of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), with more footage from the film, including a better look at the monstrous mega super Lycan and Eve, (India Eisley, The Secret Life of the American Teenager) the Lycan/Vampire Hybrid at the center of the film. Well, today, as a little pre-New Year’s present, they’ve released a few more hi-res stills.
Beckinsale returns as Selene in all her leather and latex glory. She’s a bad ass vampire or ‘death dealer’ and in Underworld Awakening, she escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of the Vampire and Lycan clans, and a war to eradicate both species commences. Baltasar Kormákur's action adventure thriller Contraband starring Mark Walhberg and Kate Beckinsale is getting a big push. I’ve seen more tv spots for this film so far than I have for some of the big holiday releases. Frankly, despite its January (US) release date, this looks like a solid action thriller. It's a remake of an Icelandic film called Reykjavik-Rotterdam. While I didn't see the original, the trailer for this one makes it look like it kicks all kinds of ass.
The synopsis: A security guard with financial troubles considers a return to his smuggling ways when an associate offers a potentially lucrative opportunity.
We know that that's not even half the story though. It's another one of those tales where like Michael Corleone said in Godfather 3, "just when I think I'm out…they PULL me back in", only this time it's family man Mark Wahlberg who gets sucked back into 'the life' thanks to his ne'er do well brother. Kate and the kids are in all sorts of danger. Ooooo.
In the clip below, the excellent Giovanni Ribisi, is doing his slimeball best to intimidate our Marky Mark, after first appearing to kiss his ass. “You’re a tourist. This ain’t your world anymore man! You’re a tourist…you can’t trade on status you don’t have!”
Contraband also stars the equally excellent Ben Foster, J. K. Simmons, Lukas Haas, Caleb Landry Jones, Diego Luna and Marky Mark's older brother, Robert Walhberg. Contraband opens January 13 in the US and 16 March in the UK.
Kate Beckinsale and Anthony Mackie helped Film Independent senior director Sean McManus announce the nominees for the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards yesterday at The London in West Hollywood.
Not crazy about Kate’s Tadashi Shoji Spring 2012 “dress” (if you can classify it as such). It looked like she hacked off two-thirds of a Victorian undergarment. Sorry. I’m probably just still annoyed that Michael Fassbender’s name was left off of the list of the nominees for Best Lead Actor. Seems like a very large gaffe considering that every time I read a review of Shame, it touts his bold and fearless performance and proclaims it the best of the year. Apparently Film Independent disagrees. Of course, Fassy wasn’t the only one snubbed. Both George Clooney (for The Descendents) and Glenn Close (for Albert Nobbs) failed to garner a nod. Woody Allen and Midnight in Paris only managed nominations for Corey Stoll (who won a Gotham the other night) and cinematographer, but were left out of feature, director, and screenplay categories. While I may end up disappointed that some of my favorites are not nominated, I kind of like that there can still be surprises in the increasingly predictable awards races.
