Kim Cattrall sat down with the Daily Mail online and talked about how despite growing up in Canada, she’s quite comfortable in England where she was born:
‘I don’t take the subway in New York because you become a target for photo opportunities, but I can get round on the London underground and the buses, much to my satisfaction. I love it. Everyone leaves me alone. I was once on a bus going through Camden Town when the driver stopped to remove a rowdy, drunk young man. I thought that was very fine, I felt very protected. I don’t know if that would happen in New York,’
She addresses the constant stories of her and Sarah Jessica Parker not getting along which she is fed up dealing with:
‘I think Sarah was right: people don’t want to believe that we get on. They have too much invested in the idea of two strong, successful women fighting with each other. It makes for juicy gossip and copy. The truth of us being friends and getting along and happily doing our jobs together is nowhere near as newsworthy. I think Sarah is fantastic. She is a born leader and she guides the crew and the cast in such a strong but gentle way. She and I are sick of this. It’s exhausting talking about it, and a real bore. Next?
It really irritates the crap out of me that Hollywood is always trying to pit women against one another insisting that there are always cat fights on sets. I just had to get that off my chest 
Her ‘Samantha’ character paved the way for all Cougars, but something was lost in the translation:
But I think it’s since taken on a negative connotation – as a woman of a certain age hanging out in a club where she can pick up young men,’
‘I never thought that was what the character represented. I’m sure there are women who do that, but I never considered Samantha to be that. And certainly not myself; I mean, I could not go into a bar and pick up a man – that is so foreign to me it’s not even in my hemisphere. I am totally insecure. That is predatory behaviour, and I don’t consider myself a predator. In fact, I feel sometimes that I am the pursued,’
She recently broke up with her boyfriend of 5 years, Alan Wyse and the Daily Mail asked if she was enjoying her freedom:
‘Well, I’m not sure if I’m there yet. I’ve been so busy since we split that I haven’t had much time to adjust. I’m starting to date; it feels all right. It’s very hard to be private about that. Whenever you step out for a drink or dinner, whomever you’re with becomes your latest beau. Which is a bit of a laugh for my gay friends.’
She’s happy with being 53 (who wouldn’t looking like her?):
I don’t want to look 19. I don’t want to look as perfect and beautiful as my fabulous Carey Mulligan. I like the way I look. And when I look at my mum I have less to be frightened of – I am blessed with her cheekbones, and those help.’
But ageism is another thing altogether:
‘I think Helen Mirren, Judi Dench and Janet Suzman look fabulous, full stop. I hate the way people qualify “you look good” by adding “for your age”. I am on a campaign against that.’
