When Lance Armstrong Twitters, Dublin Listens

full_lance_armstrong_02_wenn2551159

If you doubted the power of Twitter, doubt no more.  Tour de France legend Lance Armstrong was in Dublin, Ireland (he’s on his way home as we speak) and posted on his Twitter page that he was headed for a bike ride to Phoenix Park.  Much to his surprise he was met with over 1000 cyclists who thought they would join him for a bike ride.

Lance Armstrong On Why He And Sheryl Crow Split

gq man of year 0212

John Wilcockson’s book ‘Lance’ chronicles among other things Lance Armstrong’s relationship with Sheryl Crow.  The two were engaged in 2005 but the constant ticking of Sheryl Crow’s biological clock is what did the two in:

“She wanted marriage, she wanted children; and not that I didn’t want that, but I didn’t want that at that time because I had just gotten out of a marriage, I’d just had kids [Luke, Grace and Bella],” Armstrong, 37, reveals. “Yet we’re up against her biological clock — that pressure is what cracked it.”

The two even tried counselling to help them with the difference:

“but really there’s no way to counsel that situation, because if somebody wants a child — man, that’s the greatest gift you can give to a woman — so who are you to stand there and say I don’t want one. So we were at different points in our lives. We were not compatible on that issue.”

Lance admits the timing was ‘off’:

“I felt like I wasn’t ready . . . I would have been in the future, but not then.”

Sheryl Crow has gone on to adopt her son Wyatt (in 2007) and Lance is now expecting a baby with Anna Hansen (due in June), which as everyone knows was conceived naturally despite Lance battling testicular cancer, which normally renders men sterile.

I am always intrigued by people who, when they are together, deem themselves to be perfect for one another but split up for various reasons:  not ready for marriage or kids, but then go ahead and a couple of years later do that anyways with someone else.  I guess that means the other person wasn’t ‘the one’.

The book will be out in July.

Lance Armstrong is No Player

With everything you see and hear, I don’t know about you, but I got the distinct impression he was a bit of a player.  Yet, the Huffington Post has an excerpt from the October Men’s Journal in which he says:

“I’m a 36-year-old single guy who is completely open and honest with every woman in my life,” says Armstrong. “As long as you’re honest, and no one’s getting played or let down, then you’re being fair.”

That’s refreshing to hear, especially from someone like him who could pretty much have his pick of women.

He talks about his relationship mistakes:

“I made a mistake to let the public into my relationship with Sheryl, even though it didn’t feel like a mistake at the time,” he says. “It put a lot of pressure on the relationship, and I will never do it again.” Some public outings can’t be avoided, though. “When Tory had a show, I would go to the show; when Sheryl had a concert, I’d go to the concert; and if – uh – a new lady has a premiere, I might go to the premiere. I’m there as a supportive partner, that’s my role. But sitting down and doing a bunch of photos, like I did with Sheryl, is just wrong, and I won’t do that again.”

Being on the Tour limited his sex drive somewhat:

“I had sex if I had the energy. I wasn’t one of those guys who believed in the myths about the guy losing his chi,” says Armstrong. “But the fact is that if you are riding your bike five, six, seven hours a day, you are not a sex champion. You’re just not. You have fatigue, low testosterone, and a lower libido.” He grins. “But you know, I never got any complaints.”

I bet.

During the interview he shows the interviewer his infinity tub in his bathroom:

“Girls love that tub,” he says, “They’re always splashing around in it, and I’ve gotta be like, ‘Hey, quit splashing the art!”

He doesn’t clarify which “girls” he means:  women or his kids.

Do you think he’s a hottie or not?

Is Kate Hudson too needy?

Rumour has it that the reason Lance Armstrong Split with Kate Hudson was that she was way too needy and turning the relationship into something too serious too soon.  According to a source (who apparently is an associate from Armstrong’s LiveStrong….which I don’t think will go over too well):

“Kate was way too desperate, a woman who clearly can’t be on her own without a man in her life at all times.”

I like Kate, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not a huge fan.  However, I find it hard to believe she is “desperate” and I find it even harder to believe that a “source” would go ahead and identify himself/herself as an associate with Lance Armstrong’s charitable organization.   Wouldn’t that piss off Lance baby?  But, hey, you never know.  It could be true.

What do you think?
