First Look at Sex Addiction Comedy Thanks for Sharing

Thanks for Sharing is about sex addiction, but it is as far removed from Shame as it could possibly get, especially since it mines the subject for laughs. How far we’ve come in a year.  Thanks for Sharing stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins and Josh Gad (Love and Other Drugs)

From the Academy Award nominated writer of The Kids are All Right, Thanks for Sharing is a touching and unpredictable comedy that follows three sex addicts as they struggle to function in society while maintaining meaningful relationships. Along the way, Adam (Ruffalo) attempts to forge a relationship with Phoebe (Paltrow), a wildly independent and beautiful woman who has sworn off dating addicts after breaking up with an alcoholic. Mike (Robbins) is married to his high school sweetheart, but becomes as addicted to his 12 step recovery program as he does to sex. Neil (Gad), on the other hand, hides a camera on his tennis shoe to secretly film up women’s skirts – all while trying to convince his friends that he can live a life without sex. Throughout the film, they each deal with their addictions in different and hilarious ways in this unusual and sweet comedy.

The film also stars Joely Richardson, Carol Kane, Isiah Whitlock, Jr., Patrick Fugit and Pink. Thanks for Sharing opens August 9 in the US.

If Penn & Teller Looked Like Isla Fisher They’d Sell More Tickets

Cool First Poster for Magic Movie, Now You See Me!

Here’s a new look at the lovely and talented Isla Fisher from Louis Leterrier’s forthcoming Now You See Me. Fisher plays one of a group of illusionists who have decided to use their powers for good and not evil.

"They are modern-day Robin Hoods," Leterrier told USA Today.

We’ve shown you a few other glimpses of the group, which includes Fisher as an ace escape artist, Jesse Eisenberg, the leader of the merry band, a slight-of-hand specialist, Dave Franco as a pickpocket (who also learned some neat card tricks like throwing one with enough force to slice a banana), and Woody Harrelson as a hypnotist. The four all studied with masters at their respective crafts in order to hone their skills. Harrelson apparently tried to hypnotize anyone on set who’d let him, including costar Mark Ruffalo who plays an FBI agent tracking The Four Horsemen, as they call themselves.  Leterrier added that Ruffalo was such a good sport he “actually pretended it worked”.

Now You See Me was cowritten by Boaz Yakin whose directorial effort Safe is in theaters now, as well as first-timer Edward Ricourt, Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (co-writers of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), and Ed Solomon (Men in Black). That’s a lot of writers. Not usually a good sign, nor is the fact that it’s scheduled to open in January, but times they are a changin’. We’ll see.  Now You See Me, which also stars Morgan Freeman and Melanie Laurent, opens January 18 in the US and Canada and 25th January in the UK.

The Avengers Honor the Real Heroes at New York Premiere

The Avengers Honor the Real Heroes at New York Premiere

Did someone say The Avengers? Of course you did, that's all anyone's talking about! Well, last night, as the closing film of the Tribeca Film Festival, the cast of The Avengers, including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders, premiered their film in New York City. As you’ll hear several of them say in the videos below, it’s only fitting that they end their world tour in New York since so much of the film is set and was filmed there.

Making the occasion even more special was the fact that they had, as their honored guests, members of the various branches of our Armed Forces as well as New York City Fire Fighters and Police – as cast members were quick to point out – the real super heroes.

Enjoy the pics and clips! The Avengers opens in the US and Canada this coming Friday!

Heroes Stand Together: Two New TV Spots for The Avengers!

Loki Has an Army But The Avengers Have a Hulk

We haven’t had any news of The Avengers in a few hours and since the release of the movie is just six days away here in the US, these two tv spots arrived just in time!

From early reports, the movie delivers everything it’s been promising for these past many months of teasers, trailers, clips, posters and pics. Which is good, especially since every little piece of new news or media has only amped up the anticipation. If it sucked, it could be dangerous. You don’t want to piss off the fanboys! As it stands now, as excited as I am for The Avengers, I’m not seeing it opening weekend. I’ll slip out of work early for some midweek show when it should be a little calmer at the theater!

The Avengers opens Friday May 4. I’m sure we’ll have more for you before the week is out!

Pssst I’ve Got Pics of Hot Guys! Wanna See?

Pssst I've Got Pics of Hot Guys! Wanna See?

I knew that would get you.  Three of the male members of the cast of The Avengers assembled (that never gets old does it?) at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin this afternoon for a photocall, ahead of their premiere tonight. (It’s probably going on right now.)

No Robert Downey Jr (who probably wanted to get home to baby Exton), Jeremy Renner or ScarJo (not to mention where has Chris Evans been on this world tour?)but we do have the very attractive visages of Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Tom Hiddleston to share with you.

Chris has been filming Rush in and around Berlin for the past couple of weeks, in between jaunts to London (and waiting on the arrival of his first child with wife Elsa Pataky), so he’s forgiven for looking a little bored.  Mark Ruffalo, who’s generally not a big publicity guy looks happy to be there (and still adorably rumple-y) but Tom Hiddleston just always looks like he’s having a fantastic time.  What an infectious smile. Just what this Monday needed.

The Avengers opens in the UK (as Avengers Assemble) this Thursday April 26 and in the US on May 4 (less than two weeks!). The tour rolls on. We’ll keep you updated.

The Avengers Assemble in London! Pics and Video!

The Avengers Assemble in London! Pics and Video!

We’re changing the name of the site to 'All Avengers All the Time'. What do you think?

I’m kidding of course. It’s always like this before a big huge mega blockbuster opens. Last month it was The Hunger Games, next month it’ll be something else, Dark Shadows or Battleship perhaps.

Anyway…The Avengers assembled in London (where the movie is known as Avengers Assemble) at the Vue Westfield White City on Thursday April 19 for the European premiere of the film.

Most of the usual suspects were in attendance, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson,  Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo  adding Colbie Smulders and Clark Gregg to the mix as well. Smulders should not stand sideways. She’s in danger of disappearing against the red carpet. Not because of that fiery red Alexandra Vidal dress, but because she’s so skinny! Someone give that girl a sandwich.  She still managed to upstage the lead female in the film. Loved ScarJo’s hair, but that dress…not so much.  It’s Prada. I should love it. Maybe it’s the way she was standing. (I am so tired of that hand on the hip thing. It looks unnatural and ridiculous.) But I think it’s the peplum because it looks tacked on.

Winning the night were preternaturally gorgeous couple Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, who is obscenely beautifully pregnant. My favorite pic by far, Tom Hiddleston listening to Elsa’s baby bump.   (Loved Tom’s navy blue dinner suit)

Our friends at HeyUGuys were on the red carpet and have put up these snippets for all to enjoy:

Robert Downey Jr on the joys of fatherhood:

Clark Gregg on becoming a middle-aged super hero:

The Cast on Stage, which is mostly worth watching for Wossy (Jonathan Ross):

Great – Big – Grab – Bag – of – Avengers – Goodies – Part 2!

Great - Big - Grab - Bag - of - Avengers - Goodies - Part 2!

Okay, let’s see what’s still in the bag today kiddies (this bag is apparently bottomless until May 4th)…

*rummage rummage rummage* Next up, Marvel has released some brand new official images from Joss Whedon’s The Avengers for your viewing pleasure.

We have an up close look at Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit, an up close look at Scarlett Johansson’s chest…I mean Black Widow tied to a chair (not sure that’s better), Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill and finally Captain America leaping over a flaming bus while someone or something tries to blast him with lasers.

As if that weren’t enough, Marvel has also revealed two very cool posters created by Mondo, (the collectible art boutique arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema that we told you about). Mondo has plans to release posters for the entire team, but the first two, created by artist Olly Moss, are of the two S.H.I.E.L.D. agent members of the Avengers: Black Widow (Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). I am loving these.  Mondo posters make me want to become a collector in earnest.

The Avengers, written and directed by Whedon and starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since.

Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble on May 4, 2012.

Great – Big – Grab – Bag – of – Avengers – Themed – Goodies – Part 1!

Great - Big - Grab - Bag - of - Avengers - Themed - Goodies - Part 1!

We’ll  start with some pics of the cast in the Russian capital yesterday and last night, April 18, as The Avengers had its Russian premiere. Robert Downey, Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Tom Hiddleston all turned out for a photocall high atop Red Square on the roof of the Ritz Carlton before the red carpet event at a Moscow cinema.

ScarJo looked resplendent in a short, black Nina Ricci, but it’s always Robert Downey Jr that makes the biggest sartorial impression.  The suit and the glasses make him look like a refugee from a vaudeville act, then check the shoes. The overall effect makes him look like he’s auditioning for Stanley Tucci’s job in The Hunger Games, and yet…on him it works.

I know quite a few of you are jonesin’ for some Chris Hemsworth pics (I'm here for you) and ole’ blue eyes did look good. Mark Ruffalo looks like an adorably rumpley teddy bear no matter what he wears, but my BFs Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston easily won the pose-offs.  Effortlessly cool in leather and jeans for day and looking like a ZZ Top video by night. Hell-o!

Enjoy the pics! Much more Avengers news to come. Stay tuned!
