The Four Horsemen Rob From the Rich and Give to the Poor in Now You See Me!

Cool First Poster for Magic Movie, Now You See Me!

Back on April 1st we showed you a first look at always adorable Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Dave Franco in Louis Leterrier’s Now You See Me about a group of magicians, who also happen to be accomplished bank robbers, and the FBI agent, played by Mark Ruffalo, on their trail.

Today we have some images from recent shooting in Las Vegas, as well as a video from Entertainment Tonight (via AOL) and some caps of the vid (courtesy of Collider.)

We also have the official synopsis:

The Four Horsemen, a magic super-group led by the charismatic ATLAS (Jesse Eisenberg), perform a pair of high-tech magic shows, first astonishing audiences by robbing a bank on another continent, and then exposing a white-collar criminal and funneling his millions into the audience members’ bank accounts.

FBI Special Agent DYLAN (Mark Ruffalo) is determined to make the magicians pay for their crimes—and to stop them before they pull off what promises to be an even more audacious heist. But he’s forced to partner with ALMA (Melanie Laurent), an Interpol detective about whom he is instantly suspicious. Out of desperation he turns to THADDEUS (Morgan Freeman), a famed magic debunker, who claims the bank heist was accomplished using disguises and video trickery. One thing Dylan and Alma agree on is that the Horsemen must have an outside point person, and that finding him (or her) is key to ending the magicians’ crime spree. Could it be Thaddeus? Or Alma? Or could it really be…magic?

As pressure mounts and the world awaits the Horsemen’s spectacular final trick, Dylan and Alma race to find an answer. But it soon becomes painfully clear that staying one step ahead of these masters of illusion is beyond the skills of any one man—or woman.

Despite the phenomenal leading cast, here’s what makes me nervous about this. Leterrier is best known for the universally derided Clash of the Titans (which nevertheless made enough money to warrant a sequel), The Incredible Hulk (the one with Edward Norton) and a couple of Transporter flicks. None of that inspires a lot of confidence but someone keeps giving him money with which to make movies. (In this case its Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Another thing that makes me nervous is that there are no less than five credited writers on this thing. None of whom have anything to recommend them other than that they have had scripts produced. I guess that’s something.  Finally, the release date has been announced as January 13, 2013. January. Unless you’re an award contender just opening wide after the holidays, a January release date still has a lot of stigma attached. Why purposefully book a film that is still in production into January right off the bat?  We’ll see.

Also in the cast: Michael Caine, Melanie Laurent, Morgan Freeman, Common and Michael Kelly. Now You See Me is slated for release in the US on January 13 and in the UK on 1st February 2013. Enjoy!

Awesome Assemblage of Avengers Pics with a Whole Lotta Loki!

Awesome Assemblage of Avengers Pics with a Whole Lotta Loki!

…and Hawkeye and Black Widow and Captain America…well, you get the picture. But there really is a LOT of Loki, much more than we’ve had to this point.

Paramount and Marvel held advance Press Screenings today in the US and the UK of Joss Whedon's The Avengers. The early word, at least out in the Twitterverse, seems to be that it is all kinds of awesome and lives up to the hype.  For us schmoes who still haven’t seen the thing, Paramount took pity and generously gifted us with a great big patch of new stills.

“Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”–the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, CaptainAmerica, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble in summer 2012. In “Marvel’s The Avengers,” superheroes team up to pull the world back from the brink of disaster when an unexpected enemy threatens global security.”

We also have, for your viewing pleasure, a new short little clip featuring Thor and Captain America that highlights their bond. Teamwork!  The Avengers opens in less than three more weeks, on May 4 in the US and the UK!

The Avengers Get Their Motors Runnin’ with a Premiere!

The Avengers Get Their Motors Runnin' with a Premiere!

Joss Whedon’s eagerly awaited adaptation of Marvel’s The Avengers had a star-studded world premiere last night in LA at the historic El Capitan Theater. Marvel legend Stan Lee set the tone on a brand new tricked out Harley (Harley Davidson was one of the night’s sponsors) and of course, it was mandatory that every star and starlet then pose with the boss machine.

For those that couldn’t watch the live stream we offered, we also have some video of Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) giving their thoughts on the film.

In addition to cast members Hemsworth, Evans and Renner, ScarJo turned up with a smile, Colbie Smulders smoldered at her first big screen premiere, Stellan Skarsgard brought arm candy in the form of his son Alexander, dapper Tom Hiddleston followed the grey suit trend (did you notice? The only leading man in not in some shade of grey was Robert Downey Jr and Mark Ruffalo…and Sam Jackson…okay so 4 out of 7), Clark Gregg brought still unrecognizable wife Jennifer Grey, Ruffalo brought his gorgeous wife Sunrise, Whedon pal  (and Iron Man 1 & 2 director) Jon Favreau can be seen in one of the vids talking to a guy in an Iron Man mask, Titus Welliver (who really needs a big screen role pronto) brought his mini-me sons and Seth Green inexplicably brought a blow-up doll (actually that’s his wife. Boys and their toys).  Finally, may I just say I absolutely love that Robert Downey Jr managed to be the “elder statesman” of this bunch all while retaining his rock-star edge (and it is beyond sexy how much he adores his wife). Speaking of rock stars, Soundgarden showed up to support the soundtrack album, as well.

Enjoy the pics! The Avengers opens in the UK (as Avengers Assemble) on 26th April and May 4 in the US.

Hulk Smash! Another New TV Spot for The Avengers!

Watch These New TV Spots for The Avengers or Black Widow Will Kick Your Ass!

Today’s nugget of Marvel goodness from The Avengers is a brand new tv spot (a companion to "Team" that was released yesterday) . Everyone’s present and accounted for and there’s even a little bit of new footage in this just over thirty second clip, including a bit that looks lifted from Battleship, but it’s not. The best part of course is the end when Chris Evans’ Captain America gives the command we’ve all been waiting for…”Hulk, smash!”  and is rewarded with a big green grin.

More will surely follow (probably something new every day) now that we’re down to just four weeks away until the May 4th release date. (Of course the UK gets it in just under three weeks as Avengers Assemble…hmmpf) The world premiere is set for this coming Wednesday April 11 in LA. Watch this space for the pics!

Watch These New TV Spots for The Avengers or Black Widow Will Kick Your Ass!

Watch These New TV Spots for The Avengers or Black Widow Will Kick Your Ass!

More new goodies for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers for your Hump Day enjoyment, including this new character poster for Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), and two new tv spots plus the first official clip from the film featuring Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) as well as the aforementioned agent of S.H.I.E.L.D..

The first tv spot is the Domestic version of the spot we saw last week called “Head Count”. It’s just different enough to warrant another look. (Why not, it’s only 33 seconds long. It comes courtesy of Fandango.)

The second has just been released by Marvel and it’s called “Team”:

Last but not least, here’s the clip featuring Black Widow that starts with her hand-cuffed to a chair and ends with broken bones and splintered wood:

As if that weren’t enough, Wyndham Hotels has just launched a tie-in promotion and website, which has yielded these terrific new wallpapers. (The large versions can be found at the site.)

That’s a lot of marvelous Marvel goodness for one day! In the UK, there are only 22 days until Loki and his pals threaten global security and Nick Fury (director of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency) must call upon the pantheon of Marvel Super Heroes including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow to use their powers to save the world from disaster.  Avengers Assemble over there on 26th April. Here in the US we have to sit idly by until May 4

Here’s Your First Look at Isla Fisher and Company in Now You See Me!

Here's Your First Look at Isla Fisher and Company in Now You See Me!

We’ve got your first look at the always adorable Isla Fisher in heist thriller Now You See Me with Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Dave Franco.  We showed you the first poster way back in November, but today we have lots of great pics. The plot revolves around a group of illusionists  who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money all the while the FBI is tracking them.

Since they’re playing this straight and not for laughs, this will be a more serious side of Fisher than we’ve seen in quite some time. (You can’t count The Lookout or London, since no one saw them.)  She’ll also take a more dramatic turn later this year in Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby, as Tom Buchanan’s (Joel Edgerton) mistress, Myrtle Wilson.

Also in the cast: Mark Ruffalo as the FBI agent heading the investigation, Melanie Laurent, Morgan Freeman, Common, Michael Kelly and Michael Caine. Now You See Me is currently filming in New York, but it’s already been to New Orleans. Production moves to Las Vegas and Paris in the coming weeks. It’s slated for release in the US on January 13 and in the UK on 1st February 2013. Enjoy the pics!

Loki Has an Army But The Avengers Have a Hulk

Loki Has an Army But The Avengers Have a Hulk

A fun little international tv spot for The Avengers has hit the web. The spot is short, but it does the job. The best things about it, Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark delivering the patented “Stark Snark” and probably twice the Tom Hiddleston as Loki  than we’ve gotten thus far.

It’s less than four weeks until the UK release and just five until we get it here in the US so as many goodies as we’ve received in the past month, expect the flow to only increase from here on out! Can you tell that I’m excited about this one?

“Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”–the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, CaptainAmerica, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. The Avengers open in 2D, 3D and super stupendous IMAX 3D on 26th April in the UK (as Avengers Assemble) and May 4 in the US. (Oh and just to say thanks for reading, there are two new pics of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow at the bottom of the post)

More to Marvel at From the Marvel Universe!

More to Marvel at From the Marvel Universe!

There’s a  terrific new behind-the-scenes featurette  for writer/director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers that outlines the history of Marvel and this current run of movies and includes interviews with Whedon, Kevin Feige (Marvel Studios’ President of Production), Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Hemsworth. This new featurette, sponsored by Norton, does a great job of introducing newcomers to the films that precede The Avengers, as well as giving fans new insight.

To go along with it, there are some fantastic new behind the scenes stills that feature Whedon, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson RDJ, and Hemsworth.

The Avengers will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 26th April in the UK (As Avengers Assemble), before heading to the US a week later to be released on May 4. There’s still more than a month to go, we haven’t heard the last from Marvel on this subject.
