Vera Farmiga, who is due very soon, rocked her baby bump at last night’s opening of the Metropolitan Opera Season, with the new production of ‘Das Rheingold’ in the Lincoln Center New York City. Last week she told People that she didn’t know what the baby’s gender was:

“We don’t know what we’re having yet. I just want to have a healthy baby”

Her son realizes he’s going to have a sibling:

“I get the feeling he’s starting to [realize he’s going to have a sibling] because when I [show him my stomach] and say, ‘Baby. Baby. This is going to be your baby sibling,’ he repeats the word baby. He presses his mouth [to my belly], takes my shirt and goes, ‘Close. Close,’ to kind of distinguish the idea of there being someone else in my life.

And any sibling rivalry or jealousy probably isn’t going to be an issue:

“He has such an amount of patience when he is around other children. He has as much energy [as other kids], but I just see, for example, how he deals with toys being taken from him,” she notes. “He’s super cool about it. He’s suave and relaxed and if someone grabs a toy, he’ll take what’s fallen by the wayside. It’s a remarkable quality to have. He’s got a spirit that’s just so relaxed.”

Also attending last night’s event were Meg Ryan (I really wish she would grow her hair long again), Holly Hunter (do you see that woman’s arms? The arms are Madonna-like, yet not as scary), Kerry Washington, Rachel Roy and others.

Cheryl Cole was the Belle of the Ball at the de Grisogono Dinner Gala in Cannes.  They certainly know how to party and entertain in Cannes don’t they? I can’t imagine the money at these things, both in terms of what people are worth and what is spent on these parties.  It’s kind of decadent.  Like chocolate.

Cheryl Cole has recently stated that she now refuses to criticize her looks:

“I’m not critical, other people criticise me a lot, so I let them do that.

“I am what I am now. I’m at that point where I hate when other women pull themselves apart. I just want other women to feel good about themselves. That 100 per cent comes with age.

“It’s hard to look at yourself as a teenager. I just don’t think negatively now.”

Who in their right mind would criticize her looks?

Eight years after their marriage break-up, Meg Ryan has recently spoken about the state of her marriage to Dennis Quaid:

“Dennis was not faithful to me for a very long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that after I was divorced.”

Dennis is seething that she has, after all this time, spoken up:

It was eight years ago, and I find it unbelievable that Meg continues publicly to rehash and rewrite the story of our relationship.
“Also, I find it regrettable that our son, Jack, has to be reminded in a public way of the turmoil and pain that every child feels in a divorce.”  “I, myself, moved on years ago and am fortunate to have a happy, beautiful family.”

I think he has a point about her bringing this up 8 years after the fact (at this point everyone should have moved on).  Although, by the same token, she has a right to defend herself and tell her truth about the situation.

However if he truly was concerned for his son, why didn’t he defend his son’s mother (Meg) eight years ago?  He had no problem sitting back and letting her be slammed for her infidelity when, in fact, he was unfaithful before her and more frequently.

 Lots of purging of heart and soul going on this week:  Liv Tyler, Anne Hathaway and now Meg Ryan.  For many years after their split she blamed herself, and did not learn of Quaid’s infidelity until long after they split up.  She tells InStyle magazine:

“When the woman cheats, it’s the woman’s fault. When the man cheats, it’s the woman’s fault.”

She insists she felt like “a scarlet woman having a reckless affair that destroyed my marriage” after being attacked by the media for straying from actor Quaid.

Not divulging the entire story, she shared with Good Morning America:

“The truth is I had a very complicated marriage… the last few years I’ve confused a lot of people really.
“I’m not interested in opening up my marriage, I just feel like every now and then you have to fill in the gaps for people… We’re not friends really, but we’re friendly.”

Do you thnk we (society in general) blame women too much for everything?
