Oh goody, there's a new Adam Sandler movie on the horizon.

Donny’s Boy is a new film coming to a multiplex near you (since an art house won’t touch anything with Sandler’s name on it, just on general principals) next June, smack in the middle of summer block-buster season.  

Generally, I like to highlight films that could probably use the exposure, the films you probably have never heard of and so will skip right over them when and if they ever get a release…unless someone (read: Me) tells you about them.  Then of course there the films that fascinate me either because I want to see them or they just seem like they’re going to be a trainwreck I won’t be able to believe anyone threw money at.  Anything with Adam Sandler falls into the latter category until proven otherwise. And I will admit that Judd Apatow’s Funny People did prove otherwise, even if it was so badly marketed that most of the Adam Sandler fans out there actually hated it. Spanglish wasn’t bad either.  I digress, as usual, but I have a point.

The simple storyline: A father moves in with his son right before his wedding and soon begins sparring with his daughter-in-law.

The twist? Sandler plays the father. Andy Samberg (who incidentally, is only 12 years younger than Sandler) plays the son. Leighton Meester plays the bride-to-be.

While still in his teens, Donny (Adam Sandler) fathered a son, Todd (Andy Samberg), and raised him as a single parent up until Todd's 18th birthday. Now, after not seeing each other for years, Todd’s world comes crashing down on the eve of his wedding when an uninvited Donny suddenly shows up. Trying desperately to reconnect with his son, Donny is now forced to deal with the repercussions of his bad parenting skills. 

Donny’s Boy was originally titled I Hate You Dad, but never mind that. Todd’s mother is played by Susan Sarandon who was one of Donny’s teachers, with whom he had an affair. Do you see why I’m maybe thinking this falls into that trainwreck category I mentioned earlier?

The rest of the cast includes Sarandon’s daughter Eva Amurri, Will Forte, James Caan, Milo Ventimiglia, Blake Clark, Ian Ziering, Todd Bridges, Colin Quinn (as well as Ciara, Vanilla Ice and Tony Orlando- I swear I’m not making this up). It was directed by Sean Anders and John Morris, the writers of Hot Tub Time Machine and She’s Out of My League. It was written by David Caspe (Happy Endings) and then rewritten by Ken Marino and David Wain (who both wrote Wanderlust).   Yeah…

Donny’s Boy opens June 15 in the US and 7^th September in the UK.

The Divide is a happy little film from Anchor Bay that I just know you’ll all want to hear about right before Christmas (or Hanukkah or Kwanza)!  Then again, the makers of The Darkest Hour are betting you’ll want to go see a movie with a similar theme on Christmas! Survivors of a nuclear attack are grouped together for days in the basement of their apartment building, where fear and dwindling supplies wear away at their dynamic.

The two tag lines – •  To survive the end of the world you must first survive each other. •  The lucky ones died in the blast – probably tell us more than that brief synopsis.

The Divide opens wide in theaters beginning January 13. It stars Milo Ventimiglia, Lauren German, Michael Biehn, Michael Eklund, Rosanna Arquette, Courtney B. Vance, Ivan Gonzalez and Ashton Holmes and is directed by Xavier Gens.  Hopefully we’ll get a trailer soon so you can make an informed choice. It’s been to a lot of festivals, so I could be wrong, but right now I’m thinking that this is one of those films for which the phrase “Beware the movies of January!” was first coined. Zachary Quinto and Milo Ventimiglia are on location in Los Angeles yesterday filming Heroes.   Rumour has it that Heroes is being cancelled after this season although the studio has not confirmed it.

Do you watch?  Will you be sad?  I didn’t even know Zachary Quinto was on it. There are only so many shows a girl can watch, you know?

Lance Armstrong and Nike Sportswear launch ‘Stages’ at the Montalban Theatre in Los Angeles.  Also there was Milo Ventimiglia.    According to SLAMXHYPE:

This new project will see participation from more than 20 of today’s most exciting and prominent artists who have put their great talent to use to create art work for an exhibition that will eventually be put up for sale to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF).

As part of the festivities on Saturday, a 2.2 mile bike ride will take place with 700 cycling enthusiasts and it will be led by none other than Armstrong himself. The bike ride will begin at the Children’s Hospital in Hollywood and it will end at the Montalbán Theater where guests will be treated to an unveiling of a new collection of Nike Sportswear apparel and footwear designed to celebrate human potential and overcoming adversity

All I can say is, um, wow.  The 18 year old who is way too young to be with a 31 year-old Hayden Panettiere gave co-star and boyfriend, Milo Ventimiglia a surprise striptease in front of cast and crew for his 31st birthday. 

She had the wardrobe people help her with a raunchy cheerleader outfit that she had held together with velcro only to whip it off to reveal sexy red lingerie.  All the while singing Happy Birthday to him (like anyone noticed that part).

She completed her dance by hugging and kissing the very red faced Milo, only to be met with cheers and an ovation from the onlookers.

I’m just going to leave this story at that.

In connection with her new campaign for Candies (clothing and footwear), Hayden Panettiere does a sexy photo shoot. 

The TV campaign will feature her new single Wake Up Call.  Talk about killing two birds with one stone.  The album of that single has taken 4 years to complete and reflects the changes she herself has gone through in those 4 years.

The sexy girlfriend of 31 year-old Milo Ventimiglia will appear in Hoodwinked 2: Hood vs. Evil which is scheduled for release January 15, 2010.  Heroes is currently filming their third season.

Pretty impressive resume for an 18 year-old don’t you think?
