The Stars of Battleship Get Shore Leave to Walk the Red Carpet in LA

The Stars of Battleship Get Shore Leave to Walk the Red Carpet in LA

The big Battleship movie doesn’t open here in the US for another week but it got the red carpet treatment last night at LA’s Nokia Theater. Director Peter Berg as well as stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Rihanna, Hamish Linklater, Stephen Bishop and Liam Neeson all showed up to support the film. Decker has been on promotional hyperdrive lately, touring the world with Battleship as well as opening What to Expect When You’re Expecting (due  in theaters on the same day as Battleship).  RiRi alternated flirting with the cameras and looking pissed that they were taking her picture in her barely there backless dress.  Neeson, Kitsch and Skarsgard just brought the sexy.

Connie Britton showed up for a mini-“Friday Night Lights” reunion with Kitsch, Jesse Plemmons and show-creator (and director of the film of the same name that also starred Britton) Berg.

Battleship, based on the Milton Bradley board game that’s been manufactured since 1931 (some of the artillery in the movie is shaped like the game’s pegs), has a script by Jon and Erich Hoeber (Red, Whiteout). It has already opened everywhere but North and South America to the tune of $200 million. The onslaught continues on this continent on May 18. Enjoy the pics!

Johnny Depp Live on Stage with Alice Cooper! One Night Only!

Johnny Depp Live on Stage with Alice Cooper! One Night Only!

Apparently it’s Johnny Depp Day around here. Warner Brothers has released some pics of the Dark Shadows LA Premiere after-party held Monday May 7 in LA. The pics feature Alice Cooper, who appears as himself in the movie, rocking out with the aforementioned Mr. Depp.  There’s also a brief (very brief – as in 15 seconds brief) clip of them performing “No More Mr. Nice Guy”.

Dark Shadows, the 70’s Gothic horror serial filtered through the mind of Tim Burton opens this Friday May 11. It stars Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins (and I still say he’s a mix of Edward Scissorhands and Max Schreck), Michelle Pfeiffer as Colins family matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Julia Hoffman, Eva Green as Angelique Bouchard, Jackie Earle Haley as Willie Loomis, Jonny Lee Miller as Roger Collins, Bella Heathcote as Victoria Winters/Josette Du Pres, Chloe Moretz  as Carolyn Stoddard and Gulliver McGrath as her cousin David Collins.  Oh, and Christopher Lee is in it too!

Pics of the Pretty People at the NY Premiere of What to Expect When You’re Expecting

Pics of the Pretty People at the NY Premiere of What to Expect When You're Expecting

What to Expect When You’re Expecting had a premiere, although it’s being referred to as a “special screening” (which means there is probably going to be a big gala premiere in LA. They don’t pack these omnibus movies full of big names without getting the most from them, including being trotted out for pictures on the red carpet) in New York last night, May 8.  The event, held at the AMC Lincoln Square, brought out the film’s director, Kirk Jones as well as stars Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks, Brooklyn Decker, Chace Crawford (all in town anyway for the Met Gala the night before) as well as Chris Rock and Rodrigo Santoro.

Personally, I’m for any excuse to post pics of Rodrigo Santoro. You’re welcome. Happy Hump Day.

Elizaeth Banks looks gorgeous and glam. Brooklyn Decker appears as if she wandered In from the beach looking like that. (we hate her), Chris Rock looks like he’s *this close* to winking at the camera. Cam’s praying for a better script. (Word is she’s being eyed for the female lead in Sir Ridley Scott’s next film, The Counselor, which already stars Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt. Not sure how I feel about that.) Has anyone ever seen Chace Crawford and Ian Somerhalder in the same place at the same time?

What to Expect When You’re Expecting, based on the best-selling non-fiction books, is due May 18 in the US and 25th May in the UK.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton Bring Dark Shadows to LA

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton Bring Dark Shadows to LA

While the stars were colliding in New York, the cast of Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows stepped out last night in Hollywood at Grauman’s Chinese Theater for a red carpet premiere. Burton was there, but his other half Helena Bonham Carter must have been home minding the kiddies. (I wonder how much time Burton spends on that hair. You will never convince me that’s an accident. It looks the same every time.) Johnny Depp looked very Johnny Depp like, maybe a little more orange. Alice Cooper looked embalmed. Michelle Pfeiffer looked effortlessly gorgeous.  A little more work was required, obviously for Eva Green and Bella Heathcote but the results were fab. By the way, Chloe Grace Moretz is only fifteen and works the red carpet not only better than starlets her own age but better than veterans Michelle Pfeiffer’s age.

There’s a pic below of Danny Elfman, if you’ve ever wondered about the man behind the scores for all of Tim Burton’s films (and former member of Oingo Boingo if you’re old enough to remember). There’s also a pic of three of the cast members of the original late 60’s-early 70’s tv show.  David Selby (who played Quentin Collins, the werewolf), Kathryn Lee Scott (Maggie Evans) and Lara Parker (Angelique – played by Eva Green in the movie).

Dark Shadows opens this Friday May 11. Enjoy the pics!

Jason Statham Looks Anything But Safe at London Premiere

Jason Statham Looks Anything But Safe at London Premiere

Thank you sir, may I have another…

Jason Statham (with nary a stick-bug in sight) was in London tonight, probably on a break from filming Hummingbird just up the road, at the BFI IMAX for the European premiere of Boaz Yakin’s Safe.

Looking resplendent in a grey suit, eschewing a tie and leaving his Hollywood hipster shades in place, The Stath and his manly-muscled head greeted fans and signed autographs on the red carpet and didn’t look miserable doing it.

Safe is already open here in the US. The movie, by the way, actually lives up to the hype. It’s a cut above your usual mayhem filled, martial-arts and bullets Statham actioner. The Stath gets to be both all-Stathy and vulnerable too, and he’s great with Catherine Chan who plays Mei. “It’s good business.”  The film opens in the UK on Friday May 4. (They have all seen The Avengers already. Europe has to have something to watch this weekend!)

The Avengers Honor the Real Heroes at New York Premiere

The Avengers Honor the Real Heroes at New York Premiere

Did someone say The Avengers? Of course you did, that's all anyone's talking about! Well, last night, as the closing film of the Tribeca Film Festival, the cast of The Avengers, including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders, premiered their film in New York City. As you’ll hear several of them say in the videos below, it’s only fitting that they end their world tour in New York since so much of the film is set and was filmed there.

Making the occasion even more special was the fact that they had, as their honored guests, members of the various branches of our Armed Forces as well as New York City Fire Fighters and Police – as cast members were quick to point out – the real super heroes.

Enjoy the pics and clips! The Avengers opens in the US and Canada this coming Friday!

Pssst I’ve Got Pics of Hot Guys! Wanna See?

Pssst I've Got Pics of Hot Guys! Wanna See?

I knew that would get you.  Three of the male members of the cast of The Avengers assembled (that never gets old does it?) at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin this afternoon for a photocall, ahead of their premiere tonight. (It’s probably going on right now.)

No Robert Downey Jr (who probably wanted to get home to baby Exton), Jeremy Renner or ScarJo (not to mention where has Chris Evans been on this world tour?)but we do have the very attractive visages of Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Tom Hiddleston to share with you.

Chris has been filming Rush in and around Berlin for the past couple of weeks, in between jaunts to London (and waiting on the arrival of his first child with wife Elsa Pataky), so he’s forgiven for looking a little bored.  Mark Ruffalo, who’s generally not a big publicity guy looks happy to be there (and still adorably rumple-y) but Tom Hiddleston just always looks like he’s having a fantastic time.  What an infectious smile. Just what this Monday needed.

The Avengers opens in the UK (as Avengers Assemble) this Thursday April 26 and in the US on May 4 (less than two weeks!). The tour rolls on. We’ll keep you updated.

Zac Efron is The Lucky One at NY Premiere!

Zac Efron is The Lucky One at NY Premiere!

Zac  Efron is working that matinee idol thing HARD in these pics! (Either that or he’s stoned. ) Zac and his costar Taylor Schilling (Mercy) premiered their new movie, The Lucky One in New York last night, April 19 at the Crosby Hotel.

The Lucky One is adapted from a Nicholas Sparks novel and is the story of U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault {who} returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive, a photograph he found of a woman he doesn't even know. Discovering her name is Beth and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.

Directed by Scott Hicks (Shine) and with a script by Will Fetters (Remember Me), The Lucky One has a cast that also includes Blythe Danner, Jay R. Ferguson, Adam LeFevre and Riley Thomas Stewart. It opens in theaters in the US today April 20 and in the UK on 2nd May.

Here’s a short featurette comparing The Lucky One to other Sparks romances:
